I certainly think Studio One is good good for beat making. I know a few producers who produce in Studio One.

In other words can I do mid-side AND stereo LR
or just one or the other?

It's either or. If you wanted to do both you'd need to use two separate plugin instances

It's a great eq but quite demanding on the cpu (just one stereo instance @ 44.1 is taking 7-8% of my cpu in ProTools 12 HD)

+Steve Galante amd is coming out with with a 8 core processor with 16 threads , I am going to get that to optimize my daw .
