Thank you for this! Chessington when it was a really fantastic park loved by many, so many surprises and a lot of fun. No other video I've found before shows the whole park at its peak as well as this.
Chessington in the 90s was awesome. Really unfiltered fun for kids and full of surprises, a unique place. Now it's extremely toned down and commercial, with any of the classic rides left just feeling shoddy and derelict. This video is the park I enjoyed to bits!
I miss all that theming soooo much! people keep saying that I've got rose tinted glasses when I talk about how amazing Chessington used to be, this video proves otherwise!
I worked in rides at CWoA from 99-03 through college and uni and loved every second of it! Runaway train was my first ride that I operated, and even though I operated others (Rodeo, Rattlesnake, Rameses, Old Crocks rally) and our team covered Mexicana, toytown and Forbidden Kingdom over the seasons, Runaway was always my favourite! Wonderful memories relived seeing these videos.
This is amazing, as a child growing up in south England in the 90s Chessington was one of our yearly summer family trips! You've captured so much of the magic of this park at its peak, thank you, absolutely timeless footage.
I can’t believe this was chessington back In the day and it’s rare you get to see something like this everyday it’s awesome. So much has changed. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I haven't been to Chessington in years and, as far as I can tell from their current website, I'm not missing much. This is the Chessington I knew and loved and it's a terrible shame my two young nieces will never get to see it.
This is magical, thanks for uploading! I was still in a pushchair when Chessington first opened, but I have so many fond memories from the very late 80s - early 90s and this is how I remember the park!
I was 8 in 1997, and Chessington was a regular trip for my family and I, at least twice a year! So glad I grew up in the 90s and 00s! The last time it was great to be a child
Bubbleworks is gone?!?! Nooooooooo, it's my fondest memory of chessington😡😫...was it just me, or did the bubbleworks actually smell like bubbles?! I used to think they put something in the water🤔😊
The chessington Years back in the 90s were better than today these new stuff have taken the old and it’s all gone down hill since getting rid of log flume and bubble works which I understand were quite old but the tomb terror was not that old and they change it to tomb blast where you shoot things. Terror tomb had a story behind the ride those days have just gone I been there and seen it as a young child and school child growing up I did many trips to this park.
Miss old chessington so much the professor burps bubbleworks and terror tombs are a part of my best childhood years, i know there was many Ab Dabs for different scenes but are they still using one of him in the Vampire queue? He was wearing a brown hooded cloak but could still see his face
when Chessington was at its best! hopefully one day it will return to this quality of ride line ups, atmosphere .... Not to sound negative but if you take away rides that don't need to be taken away, you ruin the park. Just sayin'
This park had really gone down hill when I last visited. Poor theming and upgraded rides that had been there for two decades. CWA has really lost its way. The late 90s was when this park was at its peak.
On April 10 the 2 rides tomb raider and cobra broke but cobra was back up and running in muinets . On tomb raider we was stuck for at least half an houre

Agree. I went in early 2000s as a kid and worked from 2014-2019 and was so tacky when I worked there
That’s merlin for you
I miss all that theming soooo much! people keep saying that I've got rose tinted glasses when I talk about how amazing Chessington used to be, this video proves otherwise!
I agree with you 100% I was soo lucky this park was an hour from me growing up. The 90's were it's prime years
So nostalgic! The 80's and 90's really were the best times to be a kid.

This park used to be so special. So much of this magic has been ripped from it now.

I remember so much of this!! The scary guy playing the piano and Bubbleworks! And the Vampire coaster!! This tickled my nostalgia
Thank you for sharing! Amazing to remember how the park looked when I was working there for season 1997.
Thanks for putting this up. It’s where I worked from 1997-2001. Amazing place to work.
Better maintained and themed than it is today!
Fantastic video!!! So many wonderful memories, thanks for sharing
Great video
Bubbleworks, Ramesis Revenge, Terror Tomb, Rodeo now gone 😭
Even Vampire isn't anywhere near the amazing experience it once was!
It's so sad 😞
Bubbleworks is gone?!?! Nooooooooo, it's my fondest memory of chessington😡😫...was it just me, or did the bubbleworks actually smell like bubbles?! I used to think they put something in the water🤔😊
@@ICanSeeYou247 the ride is still there but it'd been re themed and name changed. And yes bubbleworks had smell pods in it.

Terror Tomb was perfect as it was. I'm still heartbroken that they took Abdab away!
Miss old chessington so much the professor burps bubbleworks and terror tombs are a part of my best childhood years, i know there was many Ab Dabs for different scenes but are they still using one of him in the Vampire queue? He was wearing a brown hooded cloak but could still see his face
I was so little when I went to Chessington the first time
I don't even remember its opening year - I was still in a pushchair!
I LOVE Terrortomb!!!!!
This was Chessingtons prime years
Laughing hysterically at Jane falling down the stairs at Chessington
This *must* have been around the time we went there originally. We brought an fridge magnet with the old CWOA logo on it (must have between 95-98).
I really miss those lovely bat cars on Vampire.
Me too. The ride was soo much better
Could I please use a little of this footage for a video I am making. Will be sure to give you a credit.
The childhood days. I still remember the Buddha was light green
when Chessington was at its best! hopefully one day it will return to this quality of ride line ups, atmosphere .... Not to sound negative but if you take away rides that don't need to be taken away, you ruin the park. Just sayin'
It's changed
this whole time i lived 2 buses away from chessington
Anyone here that worked at CWoA during the 98 season?
Would love to hear from you
I remember the magic carpet. Maybe 97 was after its time though
Thank you so much. I hope to see rameses revenge in this video
The park is just not anywhere near as good as it used to be. They spent so much more on theming back in the 90s
This park had really gone down hill when I last visited. Poor theming and upgraded rides that had been there for two decades. CWA has really lost its way. The late 90s was when this park was at its peak.
since when did the 90’s become historical
On April 10 the 2 rides tomb raider and cobra broke but cobra was back up and running in muinets .
On tomb raider we was stuck for at least half an houre
*Tomb Blaster
Miss these days so much, its horrible to see how bad the park has become :( Merlin suck
