Payment Calculation I used to predict the price:
(Minimum wage * Number of hours) / (Estimated number of buyers)
At the time:
Minimum wage = $7.25 USD (Where I live)
Number of hours = 200 (roughly the number of development hours)
Average view count = 15000 (per gwater2 video)
Percentage = 0.01 = 1% (estimated number of watchers who would buy gwater2)
Estimated number of buyers = (15000 * 0.01) = 150
(7.25 * 200) / 150 = 9.666
(^This was rounded to 10)
Calculation with current information:
Minimum wage = $7.25 per hour
Number of hours = 240 (roughly)
Number of current monthly Patreons = 165
(7.25 * 240) / 165 = 10.55
(I will not be increasing the price, I just wanted to see how my calculations held up :)

The easiest solution for the box in front of the gun is just to make it toggleable.

Honestly, I think most people are paying you not just to mess around with the addon for like a week or so, they're doing so because they are genuinely grateful for your raw skills, knowledge, and savviness around the engine, and how a lot of your work for this game at first sounds straight up impossible without having access to the full source code of the engine. Yet here it is, with barely any lag whatsoever.

From my experience the best rule of thumb when it comes to "Should I have it be X or Y?" is options, options, options! The more control and customization you give to the user, the better

I really don't think you need to justify charging money for early access to the addon, your work on it is very impressive and the fact you are releasing the finished version for free at all is commendable and generous.

I've followed this mod (only on UA-cam) since the beginning, and I still am surprised that this can even function. I also am surprised at the blue portal gel looking water just sticking to the wall.

I swear, you've made some of the most impressive addons I've seen in Gmod, it really makes it seem like almost anything would be possible with this old engine, hell even the idea I had, to bad I don't know how to program.
I doubt I'd be able to try every addon you make (inf Map gave me problems on my end) but still, it's awesome seeing your work.

Would it be possible to make the water color be an option, where users could select whether or not it’s global, and possibly even change it on the fly? I feel like this would be the most universal approach, as it appeases both sides
I agree, I think something like a "global color?" checkbox would be ideal. That way we don't lose the functionality of multiple colors if we want 'em (which can be really useful for scene building or just messin' around) buuuut if people don't care or wanna change the color of the existing liquid later, they have that option.
(Though if I had to _choose_ between the two, I'd definitely go for multiple colors)
well. the problem is you can only have one or the other as I don't fully know how that would work in a multiplayer setting.
I'll think about it, but rn its not a super high priority. (lots of other stuff to fix)

For the box make it have collision with the ground, so you don’t need the indicator to see if it’s in the wall/floor. Hope this helps :)

if you want the cube to indicate when you're spawning water inside of the ground you could split it in two, one half renders on a Less or Equal than depth with a more neutral color (half-transparent or a mid-gray) and one that renders on a Greater than depth (so it renders only when its inside another object) with a more pronounced color
that way it's not as bothersome but still indicates what it needs to

you could add a option for world collsions for the box thats drawn showing where the water will spawn, I mean as in the white lines would adhere to the world collision rather than going straight through, you could also make it so theres a preset for what shape it will make as well maybe idk lol.

Yes im about one month late to the party and someone might have already said this but i think it's safe to say with water 2 on the horizon we might be getting closer to identical blender liquid levels of gmod fluids, real impressive and curious to see what could be next!

What might help in addition to the cube could be optional X/Y/Z rays such that if the cube is midair, you can tell directly what you're spawning above

The main thing that sticks in the eye is that water is reflecting not what it is surrounded (is it using source light probes and cubemaps?) and you shown the non existing sun reflection, so I guess and hope this is what you will improve next.
Also the one thing that is harder to implement is that the water makes surfaces it touches wet, so it changes the material properties and look, the simple way is to make everything darker underneath (but only what is touched), now it looks more like glass layer over.
The other thing is caustics, this is something that was done by many devs before, I think you can too!
1. It uses cubemaps which are pretty low res (Although I think my fresnel calculations are a bit off so it doesn't reflect as much as it should)
2. Not sure how i would do that tbh. Maybe decals? although that sounds laggy
3. I Honestly have no clue how to do this one

Texture projection sounds possible, although that would require a second pass (and rebuild of the meshes) which would probably halve performance

about the fun parameters tab, you could add a checkbox whether to update the current water, you dont need to remove it fully
water color would work best as an option imo, no reason to hard force all water to be the same color
maybe a toggle underneath where it says “Color” and make it read “Constant”
Could you just add an "apply color to all" checkbox beside the color selector? That'd keep things consistent but still allow for funny clown vomit shenanigans for people who want that.

Some notes:
- I would keep the spawn box crosshair (just add a button to enable/disable)
- Having different colors would be interesting imo (Ive managed to use it to make some very basic shitty art, you can almost use it like a spray paint) Potentially just having another button that updates all water or newly spawned water.
What I would Love to see:
- Ability to turn off player collision (i hate when I make a scene and then accidentally push around the liquid)
- Buffer loading when spawning the big cube (I did mention this to you before, not sure if you added it)
- Drain and Spawners (You mentioned this in the D-cord)
- Ability to change where particles spawn (the spawning box) Ie how far or close.
- How much velocity they start with (The particles always come out with a bit of force, hard to make drips etc.)

I'm probably pretty late getting here, but it would be great if the scale of the cube (xyz) could be changed (it would make it a lot easier to create rivers)
and it would be nice to be able to choose other shapes instead of a cube + toggleable visibility of spawn cube/invisible when using camera
Is there a limitation reason as to why you can't have an option to set and unset already spawned water color to the new color in the parameters? That way if you want, changing the color changes the water you've already spawned, or have it only effect the newly spawned water.

Why is the spawn cube a cube and not a sphere? Spherical outflow would look way more natural, and considering the cube doesn't rotate with aim rotation, that wouldn't need to happen for the sphere anyway. Also multicolor is important, please add setting.

Imo that cube should be gone. I like to see how blood/lava splatters on the wall without any visual disturbance, and we should be able to mix colours, beacause its cool to make shake or blender :)

Random question, but what are you using to bhop like that? I've been trying to figure out how to bhop in garry's mod without being slowed down (my momentum keeps being reset when I hit the ground even though I am not holding W).

Maybe add an option to toggle between consistent and non-consistent color changes. And a toggle for the white box. A toggle is usually my solution when I can't decide between options lol.
