I’m not sure Morgan was anywhere near Wiggins on the ravens board. Wiggins is a top half of the first kinda talent, Morgan is a fringe first who is only fringe because he plays OT. This is based on consensus of course but Wiggins was the best player on the board for quite a few picks

I agree with a lot that was said. I'm not mad at the Isaac pick, but I feel that should've been offensive help. Wide receiver more specifically. We missed out on some quality guys like Franklin and Baker, and had to settle for a rawer receiver who may not be able to have an immediate impact outside of occasional deep balls. We're a win now team, but didn't make any win now moves for offense.

100%. Agree. I like the player, but not the pick. Meaning Isaac. Great pick at 130 (possibly not there), also a really good pick at 113. But I think WR or OLine was the move at 93. It's caused me to wonder if we have something else in the works. Which would be a good thing.

I agree with you on Isaac, its hard because Oweh and Ojabo were supposed to breakout by now and its been nothing but injuries and when they are healthy they don't give any production. I was almost certain that he was picked by Harbaugh, I doubt EDC wanted to take him there.

I really wish they would stop drafting as if they're willing to accept multiple holes on offense THIS SEASON in order to to prevent us having holes on defense 2-3 years from now, they always do this and expect different results.

Yes but not every pick will be day 1 starters. We have snaps for Isaac with the loss of clowney. I don’t think they should bank on ojabo eating all of them until he proves he can stay healthy and be consistent. I get that wide receiver is a need but there isn’t a starting role necessarily there either. Either way they are getting a rotational guy. Taking a guard might’ve been the better move but they do have guys they like in both guard spots already. They must not have thought the guards available would be better than Cleveland/vorhees immediately. I personally like Isaac and the national draft guys ranked him pretty high too.

Great point, that would be an awesome development over time. Love to see it. Yes, about the Offense, that was my point with being critical of the pick, not the player. Simplistically, I wanted to see the Ravens go Offense with 2-of-3 picks or 3-of-4 to begin the Draft to really improve the OLine and WR positions. I did not think they needed to address OLB after re-signing Van Noy and hopefully getting Ojabo back healthy.

I was really looking forward to your review. Always refreshing to get the honest look.
Personally, I always feel that the depth we have on the team needs a hard assessment. Years prior, WR wasn’t touched, thus leading to us draft that position the year after.
I liked the Isaac pick for a reason to put Odafe and Oweh on notice to perform this year. To me, the same goes for JAD and Pepe when we double dipped at CB. I am glad to have edge for this year to weather the storm for what may come next year if one, or both, our young edge rushers aren’t retained next season.

On another note, I’ve always been impressed with the depth the ravens pick at OL. It would be really interesting to see if they could fill LG and RG with the guys on the team right now. I don’t think that happens, but it’s exciting to see them try. For me, there was depth at WR and then Guard from 93/113/130 such that two of those picks should not have been at positions of good depth already. And I really like the TJ Tampa pick! I like the player that Isaac can become. But for THIS Ravens team in 2024, I think the BPA strategy at 93/113/130 was not the right move. It almost comes across as intellectually lazy to me. I for one am also old enough to get the Denis Leary reference. I'm wondering if this Leary is an a-hole-o-lee-o-lee-o like Denis lol. On another, Lions-centric note, this Giovanni Manu kid is so damn intriguing, just an absolute beast physically. Dude is 6'8, 350+ lbs, and ran a 4.96 40. The craziest thing about him is that there doesn't seem to be much fat contributing to that 350+ lb weight. He's very raw, and the level of competition he was going up against was probably equivalent to a high school JV squad, so it's gonna be a huge jump up in the NFL. It'll probably take him at least a year, maybe two, before he develops proper technique. But I think Hank Fraley is one of the best O-line coaches in the NFL, so he's in very capable hands. In the meantime, I'm thinking Manu could be a backup swing lineman, at guard and tackle. Hell, he might even work his way into the starting lineup at guard, kinda like Bergeron, who played LT at Syracuse, did for the Falcons in his rookie season last year. Well anyways, he's been compared to Jonathan Ogden physically, so that's encouraging, even if he's nowhere near there yet, as far as technique.

I think the draft was a good one, and it was a function of how the board went.
The run on tackles early forced us to get Wiggins, which was a blessing in disguise.
Coleman going higher than expected forced us to get Rosengarten, which was another blessing.
I didn't like Isaac at all.
He probably would've been there in the 4th.
There were really good guards and WRs at that spot; I would've liked us to double up on wideouts at this spot and with 113.
    Tampa was another blessing.
I'm shocked that he dropped that far, seeing how physical and interchangeable he is in multiple defensive sets.
I like the player Ali is, but think we could've got him in the 6th or later.
I did not like the Leary pick at all.
He was probably going to be undrafted.
The last two picks were good, especially the center.
    Overall, I give us a B.
Doubling up on two potential starters for years to come at corner (assuming Stephens balls out and prices himself out of our price range next year and Marlo switches to nickel corner or safety) is big.

It's interesting to hear some1 say a team got a pick wrong because where they got a player instead of the fact they got said player. I have no issue with Isaac pick. Edge was a position to address we got a good 1 who can contribute. There wasn't many must have WRs in the board in the 3rd. Javon Baker cool but he isn't even the type of field stretching deep threat we needed on the roster. Walker fits better and we got him a round later. As far as OLine y is taking a guy jus for the sake of having him a good thing? We clearly didn't have many guards highly rated or seen as better than the guys we already had from last yr. No reason to take a guy just to say we drafted a guy. I can't say the front office got it wrong because we haven't seen any of these guys play yet to judge. But considering we filled many holes i can say they got that part right. We added to the great depth we have and insulated ourselves in case of injury. Midway thru the season u should re grade the draft class after seeing what they contribute to that point and u can really have a basis to judge whether EDC got it wrong or right.

As a consolation Mahogany went to your "other" team, the Lions. Are you planning on doing this with the Lions draft? I like what the Ravens did, they helped themeselves. The Lions draft was a lot like the Ravens. Good players maybe just a bit too highly selected at time. What do you think of Giovanni Manu? A huge human being, obviously a huge potential. Dominated lesser talent. He didn't have to play against NFL ready college players. But if he can make some adjustments, he has the physical skills. A player that is 6'-7" 350lb that runs a 4.96 40 and has a 33" leap is rare indeed.

Wiggins and Rosengarten were no-brainer selections with the board as it was. It felt a little empty because I had us going elsewhere.
Adisa Isaac has the unfortunate position of being picked at a stage where many draft crushes were still on the board. I was personally still bummed missing out on Corley and others. But having Baker and Franklin on the board made it hard to swallow despite thinking he has the potential to help this year. Could be a Zack Orr guy.
I'll reserve definitive feelings on Walker until I see him with better QB play. Tampa was a great pick that also felt hollow because it happened around the time I saw all my favourite RBs go.
QB felt early until I saw the Bucs hired Leary's old coach.
The UDFA class has improved my feelings on the draft class somewhat. Dayton Wade is exactly the type of WR I wanted for Lamar. I have a feeling he could get Keaton type buzz this offseason. And getting Brade undrafted seems like a gift.

I can see the reason for the doubts. I hadn't watched the NFL for about 8 years. What brought me back in '22 was finding channels like this. Some of course feature bias, unintentional as well as the other kind. I found an honest one shredding Roman's play-calling *from '20* being an important detail.
However you see it, keeping him employed is inexcusable. A comment on one of your videos was made by someone who said their child (6 or 7 years old) always knew what side the run was going to because Roman _always_ sent the man in motion opposite it. So he both tipped off the opposing defenses as to where they were going _and_ sent an extra blocker _away?_ For three years straight? *And* children could see this, but not John Harbaugh or anyone else on the team?
Unlikely. In light of this, the playoff failure feels a lot like Harbaugh trying to compensate Lamar for those years by allowing him to only throw long passes. But the larger end result is that they have to keep focusing on the defense to not expose those years of saying this as a fraudulent excuse for never focusing on offense. So the team's identity is built on guilt & remorse.
Not the best base for anything.

Walker is a bad pick. The only one receiver of the top 30 consensus WRs which I wouldn't waste a pick on at any point of the draft.
If they needed deep threat Troy Franklin was available at 93. And Franklin is not one dimensional in his skill set like Walker.
Javon Baker was top-4/top-7 receiver in this class and he was also available in 3rd.
And they could find value at Edge later. And oline was a bigger need also.
3rd/4th rounds picks were a breakpoint for the Ravens.
But I was super happy with Rosengarten pick. He was ranked 6th on my personal OT board (bottom of the 2nd tier along with Fuaga, Fashanu and Fautanu). Call me crazy or whatever :)

@@all_22_films Coach, I love Lamar to death but we have to recognize one thing. He is willing deep thrower but not the most accurate one. And Walker won't fix this issue. Disconnections between Lamar and Rashod last year were on QB's side usually. And he didn't hit all other receivers on deep balls that much more often.
Speaking of speed we had Duvernay last 4 seasons and still have Wallace now. They both are not slouches and both were deep threats in their collegiate career. Tylan was actually super fast in the range of Walker's speed before he had torn his ACL in Oklahoma State. That was long ago and may be he has that speed back. Also Wallace always was and is a great contested ball catcher unlike Walker. The Ravens just never gave him a chance!
Priority on offense for Lamar should be better processing in quick/short/timing passing game and more effective pre-snap adjustments. Deep targets will open up naturally without wasting valuable draft picks on one dimentional athletes (I even can't call Walker a wide receiver yet).

Isaac is not a Pass Rush guy right now. He is a slower and smaller version of Robinson, just going by Combine testing and his getoff on film. Nonetheless, I like the player. Just not the pick. I think he has talent to play in the NFL and shows tremendous effort and tenacity during plays. I like that he was in on every Personnel package that Manny Diaz used. It means he is versatile.
But I am not under any obligation to watch the film and suddenly describe him as a Pass Rush guy about to blow up, when the film does not show that. He had 7.5 Sacks in 2023, and 2.5 of them were against Massachusetts, and another 2 Sacks were when he was unblocked off the Edge. I would be happy to be proven wrong and watch him get 10 Sacks as a Rookie.

We added in an edge with talent in case Ojabo gets hurt again and or we lose Oweh after this season. Walker, Zay, and Bateman will be a great 3 over the next 3-4 years growing with Lamar. Ali is a safe quality add as we may lose Hill next year and we have Henry for only 2 years. The rest developmental and possibly special teams players.

Along with Kamara. I think we may have overestimated drafting an OLB at 93, to me at least, as opposed to improving the Offense more. Hey coach. Good job as always. I think they scored a B overall.
I get the feeling EDC/Ravens intentionally under appreciated present value of certain players and positions and placed a premium around, could the potential pick be a "blue chip" player. I think they are trying to collect blue chip talent. My speculation is that drove their decision to pick Wiggins 1st and that domino influenced the next 2 picks.
They also seemed to rationalise being a perennial contender means some future proofing and layering bigger pay-offs from some picks and rounds.
My last bit of speculation is they're also shifting their philosophy to the O-line and balancing between competition and cohesion. There's an intentional mandate to let the core group build cohesion as a pack. This is a rugby mentality where the forwards learn on set piece work together.
Though I agree it's an overall B grade. I like their out the box approach in places.

I’m not as concerned about wide receiver. Why? Because harbaugh is our coach and we’ve only ever had a handful of super successful WR seasons since he’s been here. We were the decision to recommit from the run game away from winning the afc, not a 3rd round receiver away, imho. Once we don’t get a top 3 WR in this class, everybody in my head is some variant of duvernay, proche, Boykins, mallette, doss, Wallace, campanaro, Jaleel Scott, lasley…we have a waaaaaay stronger track record of getting better careers out of OL and defenders in the 3rd and 4th and beyond. I’d also be more upset about not getting a receiver earlier if we didn’t get Derrick Henry.
Also howwwwww the fuck did Joe evans not get drafted??? He instantly looks like TJ Watt on tape. The thing I love about his and Isaac’s tape I’ve seen so far is that most of their sacks come after or while being held-which is the thing holding Odafe back from his final form.
