What size of warp coil should be used to correspond with the size of beads being used? I'm using 8/0 sized beads and am going to try to use 12 dents per inch warp coil. Please advise if there is a good way to know what warp coil to use with specific seed bead sizes. Thank you!

To figure out which warp coil to use with different bead sizes place the beads you plan on weaving on a needle and measure an inch. Then, count how many beads are in that inch. The number of beads minus one is the warp coil that will be used. There is some leeway in this, and depending on the beads you are using, it might not work out perfectly (numerically), just close. Using a smaller (lower number) coil is better than using a larger (higher number) coil. We also have a cheat sheet here: www.mirrixlooms.com/pages/bead-weaving-basics For 8/0 seed beads you'll want to use the 12 or 10 dent coil depending on how thick your warp is. For regular beading thread, the 12 dent coil will work!

Do we do these same directions if we are using both fiber (silk thread etc) and rows of beads or is doubling up in each dent just when you are using beads?

There are different ways that you could do this, but check out our Tapestry/Bead Cuff Bracelet project for the method we prefer where you warp for tapestry, not bead weaving, to combine beads and fiber. www.mirrixlooms.com/pages/the-tapestry-bead-cuff-bracelet-project-ebook

I can't be the only one who is ready to send this thing back. It's warped but weaving with that shedding bar? Nope. Not happening.

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble! We’re always available at customerservice@mirrixlooms.com to help and guide you to resources! If the loom is warped correctly with the shedding device, the process of weaving should actually be pretty easy once you get the hang of it! This project is a great one to start with to learn the process: mirrixlooms.com/pages/the-sunny-bracelet-project-ebook

That is more of a waste of thread then using a regular loom. What the heck is the heddle for?

The warp thread can actually be rotated around the loom using this warping method, so you can use almost all of it (besides what you need for finishing) and can weave a piece longer than the length of your loom. You can also weave multiple pieces on the same warp vertically. One way that you can warp a Mirrix Loom is with a shedding device (connected to the warp with heddles as shown here). This is an alternative method of weaving beads that is so much fun and makes the actual weaving process faster and easier. It's also a great way to combine beads and fiber.
