Both are great in their own right. 2 was better gameplay wise and I did like their more light hearted tone at parts, but I do hope the 3rd game takes its story back to this dark and gritty tone.
I agree with Supreme Edgelord Kylo Ren. Watch Dogs was a dark and vengeance driven story line. Aiden's character may not be the best, and depending on how you play the game, his morals make zero sense. You get to hunt down vicious human trafficking chains, intimidate gang leaders by sparing them as they wake up to their dead soldiers, tear through a gang fortress, and the whole time, you work closer and closer towards your ultimate goal: Watching an old man die. Watch Dogs 2 on the other hand, was more light-hearted, even though it did have dark moments (Horatio). Instead of vengeance and brutally eviscerating every enemy you come across (well, you can still do that), Your team is similar to the TV series "Leverage"; Everyone has their specialty and they all work together to undo lies and conspiracy with investigation, setups, and exposure.
In too many fictional works, revenge has been something that leaves you empty in the end... However I believe that too be untrue, revenge is sweet and awesome Good thing watch dogs went with that ideology
IceQ51 I don't agree fully, Aiden was able to accept Lena's death where as most people wouldn't be able to. He also still had his sister and nephew, i'd say Aiden more or less carried out a sense of justice instead of pure vengeance. Revenge leave's you empty in the end because it's the only thing you'd have left.
@@Gary.009 revenge is just a more personal form of justice.Even though it leaves you empty,it becomes possible to move on.In the end, emptiness is better than anguish and regret.

Loved this game, especially this part of it. The mixture of actually pressing the button you know is going to kill him while he sits there eventually trying to plead with you was very powerful in my opinion. You have no sympathy for him by this point in the story and it's just extremely somber. The fact that it's just you and him alone and you take your time was a good choice because making it a huge shootout would've ruined the moment
Gary B that is what I liked about this game, every "villain",got the death that suits them best,Iraq dies in a shootout,Defalt gets hacked and chokes to death(DLC)and in this scene you mercilesly watch an old man die knowing that he deserves it
I think what makes Lucky Quinn such a compelling antagonist to me is that he looks, and acts like somebody's friendly grandfather. But, in reality, he's the most evil person in the game.
No bro, it takes a while for it to become dark 3-5 seconds at best. Also, it took 8 seconds to permanently fuck over Quinn. It takes 3-5 seconds to temporarily stop your enemy from seeing you, unless they're a sniper or you run & they hear you.
Pacemakers probably have software that's supposed to stop a hack, if not a teen with a smartphone could just walk by a grandpa with a heart surgery in the street to kill him.
The CTos power saving infrastructure was supposed to be easy to manipulate by city workers, and doesn't really have many defenses since he has literally the entire backdoor into the system to begin with... but spot on the pacemaker having software defenses
"This is the part where I'm supposed to say I feel empty, right? I'd be lying to myself. I finally feel awake...like I can breathe again." This is fxxking gold now.
For those who haven't, wait for a bit before killing Quinn to listen to the music. Has a heartbeat rhythm that does to that flstline sound when you finally kill him. Really nice touch
The game is ruined by shitty driving mechanics and the reputation system. It often literally forces you into police chases and since you're "the vigilante" you can't kill cops because you risk lowering your reputation. Couple that with absolute shit driving mechanics where you can't even shoot out of a window and you got yourself a recipe for a disaster. It's really hard to focus on the story when you're frustrated by the missions
@@olzhas1one755 then only shoot cop's leg they will fall over and you will lose less reputation and driving is awesome once you get used to it and just because your used to shooting out of window in gta v doesn't mean this game also has to have it then use your brain go over steam pipes or garage doors then use blackout to prevent cops from entering they are trying to decrease the gun usage it's pretty clear. Also missions were easy. I like it when games force you to change playstyle just to not get punished it adds a challenge if you want a sandbox experience with 0 frustrating mechanics then play the second game they made it easier for people like you ( I don't mean any hate by easier for people like you some people don't like frustrating game features and challenging missions so I understand your frustration don't get me wrong but second game is a better fit for you)
As somebody who's completed the game thirteen times, I've seen how good and well thought out the story is. Why do people diss this game? I have no problem with it. WD2 is a game made to fix the mistakes of the first game, lighten the scene a little, right? I believe hacking games are supposed to be dark, anonymous and mysterious. I preferred DedSec in the first game. They were more serious, but didn't have their parts beefed up too much, just the right amount. In WD2, however, we discover a DedSec group in San Francisco play with a lot of stuff and stop Blume by means within their comfort zone. I'm on my second completion of the sequel and fourteenth of the first game. What I can say about that, is, I am not capable of completing the sequel again. The story is too light hearted, the mission is always the same thing(hacking into a box or taking out a gang/FBI), but in Watch Dogs, there is a wider diversity of doable stuff in main missions. Also, the gameplay in Watch Dogs 2 just doesn't seem as relevant as that of the original. There doesn't seem to be as strong a grip as the first game. As for all the newly added modifications, they are cool. I like them. That makes the two games even in my opinion. I actually thought the original Watch Dogs was cool, though. Anyone agree?
Lord Keaveney The first game was amazing... the story was very serious and dark... Watch dogs two has more comedy and bright souled characters in it.... Aiden is very badass and makes a difference mostly by himself.... Marcus in watch dogs 2 is in a group and has help.... I agree watch dogs is much better than watch dogs 2
I never understood why people thought it was stupid for Aiden to want to avenge his niece. I mean that’s literally his family and he feels responsible for her death so it’d make sense he’d want vengeance.
The desire for vengeance and justice is understandable and relatable. Stupid isn't the right word, selfish is. The game had put an emphasis on Nicky trying to convince Aiden to stop and realise no matter how many people responsible he will find and kill it won't bring Lena back. It was Aiden's personal trauma that kept him obsessed with belief he had to make it right by punishing everyone involved. And in the end he did but I don't know if the cost didn't matter. His sister accidently shot a guy and Jacks witnessed Aiden's murder spree, which won't help his already damaged mental state. P.S. Maybe the story would have happened either way due to his former partner dragging him into this chain of events. I can't say for sure.
I do not understand the hate this game gets. It’s a masterpiece! The story and writing is so good! “Haven’t you heard? I’m the Vigilante. I clean up mess like you” and his breaking the cliche of feeling empty after revenge by saying he feels good is just great. I love this game, who else is with me?
I liked a Aden peirce thought the personal story was really good tied in really well with the whole vigilante stuff better story than watch dogs 2 in my opinion
Fitting that Quinn realises just what a fool he's been by the end. Through his own arrogance he created the vigilante...and the very thing that would step on his neck. This was a great game for its time and I hope 3 is more like this. The plot was far better than 2.
Well.. I think it kinda worked? But in the end I considered the entirety of the characters in WD2 to be gud.. Bagley was the ONLY saving grace character for 3 in a story that made half-sense because NOTHING STUCK IN THE STORY SINCE YOU CAN PICK ANY SCHMUCK OFF THE STREET AND HAVE THEM IN ANY CUTSCENE.
Yeah, i really like the fact that he is killed by someone who he considered "small fry". He has many enemy and has face againts much stronger organization and goverment, yet he was killed by one guy who he never even consider a threat until the very end of his life. Not to mention that he accidentally digging his own grave not by messing up with mafia or govermend but because he attacking stranger he never even heard of
People that were complaining about Aidens personality..."He is so emotionless, he is so boring, why isnt he more happy like all the good old heroes, he makes the game boring" Did you forget his niece died...Did you forget that it was his biggest trauma...He is like Bruce Wayne in a manner of speaking...Only without the money...So he head to take a way more brutal path. Shaping him into becoming who he was...He isnt going to be a jolly good old happy with life "Hero". He is a vigilante...And instead of becoming Batman like Bruce Wayne did...He became more of a Jason Todd...Just a tad more "i dont give a shit about anything anymore" This game did indeed get a big downgrade in graphics compared to what was first shown. But gameplay. The story. Aidens journey of revenge. It was not bad at all...Not like the doomsayers tried to make it out to be.
Aiden has so many emotions but he represses them and such portrayal is pretty rare since most protagonist are open about their emotions or no emotions are depicted at all. As a psychology student I was so fascinated his subtle way of communication, his face expressions, etc. it was extremely realistic. When I played this game I felt that I was morphing into someone having her revenge, taking so much madness alongside with him and I lost my innocence while being part of this story. I was in shock mentally and phisically after this amazing game it gave me an intense chatarsis.
Agreed and personally when I played this I felt so attached to Aidens story where as in Watchdogs 2 I didn't feel any of that I really didn't feel a connection between the characters it's almost as if you could actually feel what Aiden was going through.
Exactly. Critics of the game are quick to point out that he never under goes major emotional or psychological development. Um... that's kind of the point of his character. Its to show he is an extremely flawed man, and is just like the people he takes down to a degree
Quinn: when i die... They will make a statue of me, But you, are not important Reputation: Menace Aiden: yeah its true Reputation: Vigilante Quinn: i take that back then.
I actually pity Quinn at this part. Sure he's a Mafia Boss and all, but you can seriously tell what little mistakes can do in an underworld he lives in, Aiden is the embodiment of that little mistake Quinn made.
+MrSilnev How is it ridiculous to expect the game to deliver what it presented in the trailers? Ubisoft blatantly false advertised and lied on multiple occasions, its THEIR fault the game was overhyped.
yeah i agree part of the reason why everyone thought it was the worst game ever for awhile was becuase of how it got over hyped it wasn't the best game ever but it wasn't bad by any means it was pretty average
This line doesn't get enough credit: "...you expect me to beg...? Lucky Quinn..." "...on his knees..." ... "...beg all you want, that doesn't interest me."
I hated how talked about Pearce "he boring", "overused story cliches", why isn't he more lively. 1. When he was younger his dad was a alcoholic and a abusive dad who hurt his mom and him 2. Due, not to being able to protect his mom he signed up to boxing lessons and got in involved with crime and after he beat his dad and fled with his mom to rural Ireland to escape him 3. During his time in crime he studied, intimidation classes and interrogation tactics, and after meeting badboy17 for the first time aiden says "i know what you we're doing very text book". He knows what to do and when use the right force at the right time and he knows how wear down confidence and insight fear like batman 4. His niece died and most likely how PTSD like jackson but doesn't know how to process it so beats up people to keep his mind off of that and doesn't really come to terms with it until bloodlines which is more than 15+ years after his niece dying he still grasped the idea that if did something different he could saved her until jackson had to tell his subconscious "hey no matter how many times you replay that moment it bring her move on like i did and start living again okay".

I think it's very clever how after Lucky dies the music turns into one solid note, representing a flatline, showing that Lucky really is dead, he's not slinking away from this like every other villain
I like that after this he does get the peace he wants, no matter how much the game pushes him as a hero aiden isnt that simple, and i think its moments like these that cement that
Quinn deserved a more painful death. But it’s also crazy how one man. Took down a mob boss with a big army by himself, shows you how much of a badass aiden really is
That's the difference between Aiden Pearce and Lucky Quinn. Lucky Quinn wanted to be remembered and honored. He was obsessed with leaving his mark on the world... and it killed him. And after he died, his connections to multiple crimes came out and he was dishonored. He was forgotten. Aiden, however? All Aiden cares about is making the world a better place. He doesn't care if he'll be forgotten. He wants what he does to last long after his passing. Even in Watch_Dogs 2, Aiden Pearce is still the vigilante and is leaving a better mark than Lucky Quinn ever did... and it will last. That's why Watch_Dogs is by far one of my favorites.
Yeah. What makes him such a good villain is because of how realistic he is. He's only super rich because he's smart and he's been blackmailing the mayor. Honestly, I wonder how many people in real life are rich because of situations like this.
Good old times when Ubisoft was actually about sad, gritty little life lessons like Quinn literally representing the everliving capitalism grinding machine or Connor shooting Charles Lee because no one else will. Nowadays its all about "Sir I have an Axe in my head!" valhalla jokes or grandma Dedsecwith assault rifles. Sad reality, we asked for this by bashing brilliant underdog gems like Watchdogs and AC3.
I never understood till now, correct me if I’m wrong but Quinn put a hit on Pearce cause he thought he was after the rose Washington blackmail on the mayor that the second hacker iraq had. Because of that Lena died and Maurice was captured but refused to give up Quinn
This game is so amazing. Easily one of the best games I've ever played. Aiden is such a beast and complex character. But not just him, Iraq, Damien, Lucky Quinn, T Bone, they were all great characters. I felt terrible when Clara died, she was another great character as well. Great characters with a great story make an amazing game.
I think the story of watch dogs 1 gets way, way better when you examine it from the lens of Aiden being a high functioning 'on the spectrum' individual. It makes his seemingly detached mannerisms, his kind of bizarre motivations, his obsessive tendencies, etc all make a ton of sense and give him a bit of depth to boot (as well as linking him to his nephew Jacks, who also appears to be on the spectrum in some capacity). When I first looked at the story with the perspective of aiden as a 'normal guy' or self insert material, it falls apart, but through this new, second lens it really comes together.
"When I die, they'll build a statue."
And then after Quinn dies, they find evidence of him being linked to criminal organizations, and he isn't honored. In the end, Aiden Pearce _did_ win.

Still, I hope, that Aiden will return for a main role. I'd rather play Batman, than Robin.
15liran my fave is the merlaut job
15liran OH BOY HOW WRONG WE ARE! LE MEMES XDDDDDDD!!1!!!21! Fucking Watch_Dogs 2 was a cringe fest trying to be hip with memes and the cringy end-of-mission dedsec speeches, plus to add that they didn't have much to tie in with other than that one mission with Aiden and T-bone returning.
Watch Dogs 1 is First Blood Rambo, meanwhile Watch Dogs 2 is the fun and over the top action sequel Rambo 2.
I thought it wanted me to start his pacemaker back up, took me a minute to realize that wasn't the case Lol
Same.
Same lol
I honestly wanted to save him but nooooooo.
Richard dillen fuck lucky quinn Lol
But it should have given you the choice
Am I alone to say the first Watch_Dogs was better than the second?
This was a great game because the story is so serious and makes you feel for the characters
Wow most people I've seen that actually liked the shit show of a game the second was
Wow, maybe because people have diffirent opinions?
In too many fictional works, revenge has been something that leaves you empty in the end... However I believe that too be untrue, revenge is sweet and awesome
Good thing watch dogs went with that ideology
IceQ51 I don't agree fully, Aiden was able to accept Lena's death where as most people wouldn't be able to. He also still had his sister and nephew, i'd say Aiden more or less carried out a sense of justice instead of pure vengeance. Revenge leave's you empty in the end because it's the only thing you'd have left.
@@Gary.009 revenge is just a more personal form of justice.Even though it leaves you empty,it becomes possible to move on.In the end, emptiness is better than anguish and regret.
@@ds22342 Yea, too bad the makers of Last of Us 2 didn't understand that.
@@dovahking6514 yeah that game reminded me of Aiden's dialog here.
@@ds22342 I finished this game yesterday and it was fulfilling unlike LOU2. Started playing WD2 but it didn't feel as meaningful or dark so I stopped, hopefully Legion's gonna be good
You know the saying, "Respect your elders?" Yeah, this game says "Fuck that."
ajrm6200 Welcome to the world of Watch Dogs
ajrm6200 lmfao that elder was a criminal, who would respect a criminal? And he killed his daughter and laughed at it, dude... Just the stuff you're saying it absurd...

ajrm6200 but i still respect elders
I love how the background music has heart beat like bass and it slows down as he dies and ends with a lifeline
Finally! Someone else who heard that! Quinn's theme is counting down the seconds he has left to live.
this scene is perfect. you see the imbalance of power shift from both characters, I don't know. I just love how they set the mood and the music for this. watchdogs Is really an underrated game. sure it was hyped too much, but I enjoyed the story. :)

How to sum up Watch Dogs 1 in one sentence: A six year old girl had to die because an old man wanted to keep his puppet.
To be fair, you could sum up a lot of games, regardless of how well they were received, in one sentence.
@@stormichow5325 rdr2 : Dutch has a plan

Aiden literally says this after Clara's death.
I think what makes Lucky Quinn such a compelling antagonist to me is that he looks, and acts like somebody's friendly grandfather. But, in reality, he's the most evil person in the game.
Ikr
He even drives around in an old Mercedes
You can make an entiry city have a blackout, in 1 second. Yet it takes 8 seconds to hack a pacemaker... It all makes sense now.
No bro, it takes a while for it to become dark 3-5 seconds at best. Also, it took 8 seconds to permanently fuck over Quinn. It takes 3-5 seconds to temporarily stop your enemy from seeing you, unless they're a sniper or you run & they hear you.
HomeboyPlays Thank you for your diagnostics.
its for the satisfaction of killing quin
Pacemakers probably have software that's supposed to stop a hack, if not a teen with a smartphone could just walk by a grandpa with a heart surgery in the street to kill him.
The CTos power saving infrastructure was supposed to be easy to manipulate by city workers, and doesn't really have many defenses since he has literally the entire backdoor into the system to begin with... but spot on the pacemaker having software defenses
"This is the part where I'm supposed to say I feel empty, right? I'd be lying to myself. I finally feel awake...like I can breathe again."
This is fxxking gold now.
For those who haven't, wait for a bit before killing Quinn to listen to the music. Has a heartbeat rhythm that does to that flstline sound when you finally kill him. Really nice touch
This game was dark.
In a good way though
Are we sure it’s not from the dc universe?
TheCandyMan lol 😂
devilz gaming I knew someone would get it 👌
TheCandyMan haha 😆
Maybe watch dogs isnt so bad after all. It's got a great story, and sound.
Except for when they killed off Clara.
After all?
The game is ruined by shitty driving mechanics and the reputation system. It often literally forces you into police chases and since you're "the vigilante" you can't kill cops because you risk lowering your reputation. Couple that with absolute shit driving mechanics where you can't even shoot out of a window and you got yourself a recipe for a disaster. It's really hard to focus on the story when you're frustrated by the missions
olzhas1one I loved the missions. And the driving is better than the second game. The cops were really easy to take out
@@olzhas1one755 then only shoot cop's leg they will fall over and you will lose less reputation and driving is awesome once you get used to it and just because your used to shooting out of window in gta v doesn't mean this game also has to have it then use your brain go over steam pipes or garage doors then use blackout to prevent cops from entering they are trying to decrease the gun usage it's pretty clear. Also missions were easy. I like it when games force you to change playstyle just to not get punished it adds a challenge if you want a sandbox experience with 0 frustrating mechanics then play the second game they made it easier for people like you ( I don't mean any hate by easier for people like you some people don't like frustrating game features and challenging missions so I understand your frustration don't get me wrong but second game is a better fit for you)
5:19 “Haven’t you heard? I’m the vigilante. I clean up mess like you.”
I have too say that this is one of the most badass moments in gaming
Creepitex Yep. WD2 is good, but WD has a far better story.
@sbcontt YT
no it didnt survive the hype because cdpr marketed it as a skyrim killer when it was just another witcher sandbox with an empty world
@sbcontt YT
ok, but gameplay-wise it was just another corridor game made open so it didnt really benefit from this
Get some sun man.
I never understood why people thought it was stupid for Aiden to want to avenge his niece. I mean that’s literally his family and he feels responsible for her death so it’d make sense he’d want vengeance.
It was the closest thing he had to a daughter
I’m with you all the way, no video game protagonist comes even close to Aiden❤️🔥🙏
"Haven't you heard? I'm the vigilante. I clean up mess like you."
I really like this part. He the reason I interested with vigilante...
I liked a Aden peirce thought the personal story was really good tied in really well with the whole vigilante stuff better story than watch dogs 2 in my opinion
I agree, WD2 was cool but the story wasn't as immersive or as good overall.
That whole scene from 1:54 to 6:23 is my favorite part of the whole storyline.
agreed
+Souja FTW The end end choices of this game were stupid though.
Mitchcario Trimm same
Fitting that Quinn realises just what a fool he's been by the end.
Not to mention that he accidentally digging his own grave not by messing up with mafia or govermend but because he attacking stranger he never even heard of
People that were complaining about Aidens personality..."He is so emotionless, he is so boring, why isnt he more happy like all the good old heroes, he makes the game boring"
Did you forget his niece died...Did you forget that it was his biggest trauma...He is like Bruce Wayne in a manner of speaking...Only without the money...So he head to take a way more brutal path. Shaping him into becoming who he was...He isnt going to be a jolly good old happy with life "Hero". He is a vigilante...And instead of becoming Batman like Bruce Wayne did...He became more of a Jason Todd...Just a tad more "i dont give a shit about anything anymore"
This game did indeed get a big downgrade in graphics compared to what was first shown.
@@kytiladdy Well put m8. Well put
Agreed and personally when I played this I felt so attached to Aidens story where as in Watchdogs 2 I didn't feel any of that I really didn't feel a connection between the characters it's almost as if you could actually feel what Aiden was going through.
Mfs who say that probably speedrunned the game and didnt even pay attention to the story
Exactly. Critics of the game are quick to point out that he never under goes major emotional or psychological development. Um... that's kind of the point of his character. Its to show he is an extremely flawed man, and is just like the people he takes down to a degree
This game had a great story. And this scene in particular is very well done.
"I came here for you. You think bullet proof glass is going to stop me?"
i love that line
Quinn: when i die... They will make a statue of me,
But you, are not important
Reputation: Menace
Aiden: yeah its true
Reputation: Vigilante
Quinn: i take that back then.
I wasn't even emotionally affected by Quinn. I just wanted to see him go because he was like a disturbing mix of freddy kreuger and herbet the pervert
if ubisoft had only made all the scenes in watch dogs similar to this scene the game would have been fantastic!
They can't. This scene was the conclusion/climax of all the build up from the beginning.
I actually pity Quinn at this part. Sure he's a Mafia Boss and all, but you can seriously tell what little mistakes can do in an underworld he lives in, Aiden is the embodiment of that little mistake Quinn made.
I guess Quinn was right. There isn't much room for fuck-ups.
He IS the mistake. The Fox is Quinns creation
I really don't know why so many people hated this game, it wasn't great but it wasn't bad either, the story was okay, character were not too bad too
It's because most people got swept up in the hype and were disappointed that the game didn't live up to their ridiculous expectations.
+MrSilnev How is it ridiculous to expect the game to deliver what it presented in the trailers? Ubisoft blatantly false advertised and lied on multiple occasions, its THEIR fault the game was overhyped.
T VB **cough** no man's sky **cough**
yeah i agree part of the reason why everyone thought it was the worst game ever for awhile was becuase of how it got over hyped it wasn't the best game ever but it wasn't bad by any means it was pretty average
diablogamer1 I don't think it was average at all. If you really saw all the features, you'd think it's amazing too.
Love how he says that he won’t beg for mercy and then just before the end he breaks and starts begging for any deal in exchange for his life.
He was confident that his men would arrive and save him. Once he realized it was over for 'im, he wasn't so _Lucky_
This line doesn't get enough credit:
"...you expect me to beg...? Lucky Quinn..."
"...on his knees..."
...
"...beg all you want, that doesn't interest me."
Aiden is such a savage gigachad.
I hated how talked about Pearce "he boring", "overused story cliches", why isn't he more lively.
1. When he was younger his dad was a alcoholic and a abusive dad who hurt his mom and him
2. Due, not to being able to protect his mom he signed up to boxing lessons and got in involved with crime and after he beat his dad and fled with his mom to rural Ireland to escape him
3. During his time in crime he studied, intimidation classes and interrogation tactics, and after meeting badboy17 for the first time aiden says "i know what you we're doing very text book". He knows what to do and when use the right force at the right time and he knows how wear down confidence and insight fear like batman

How can people hate it for the graphics downgrade when you have storytelling this great?
the music in this scene is so incredible
This is why Aiden Pearce is the best
Yes it is he’s my favorite character and like him☺️☺️

Dermot Quinn is by far The most underrated antagonist in any video game ever.
Yeah. What makes him such a good villain is because of how realistic he is. He's only super rich because he's smart and he's been blackmailing the mayor. Honestly, I wonder how many people in real life are rich because of situations like this.
@@mac_attack_zachIn fact, with all that blackmail data he and Iraq had, they were in control. Quinn pulls the strings, Iraq was a henchman.

This game’s story and characters were so underated
when he knocks on the glass and delievers the line is epic my favorite part.
Correct
My favorite part was when Aiden Pearce looked down at lucky Quinn and said “do you know who I am? I am the watchdogs.” Truly the moment of the game
I love when Aiden said "It's Watching_Dogs© time"
i love how dark the city is
This game is so amazing. Easily one of the best games I've ever played. Aiden is such a beast and complex character. But not just him, Iraq, Damien, Lucky Quinn, T Bone, they were all great characters. I felt terrible when Clara died, she was another great character as well. Great characters with a great story make an amazing game.

I felt bad when i played this
I think the story of watch dogs 1 gets way, way better when you examine it from the lens of Aiden being a high functioning 'on the spectrum' individual.
Best part was in Bad Blood dlc. He have a audionrecording of cooking...something.
