    Actually I disagree with using debit card to pay instead of credit card to prevent overspeed. What you need to do is to pay directly after u use a credit card so is just like u r using a debit card, but u get the perks of loyalty point and good credit rating when you are planning to get a house

      totally agree!!! it's just a super convenient advice for them to give, but undoubtedly a very poor one. if one tends to overspend, FIX THAT ATTITUDE, not credit card. Credit card helps tremendously in getting perks and $$, if you know how to play the game.. even a primary school kid can figure this out. jeez!

      Credit cards also come with some fraud insurance that debit cards do not provide.

      i think this vary from person to person. for me i know i cant be discipline enough to own credit card, probably will overspend. so using debit card have larger benefit for me. at least i wont go into bigger debt.

      credit cards are good for most people who know how to use it and for the reasons you mentioned. But look at this girl, she probably doesnt even know how much she spend till the bill comes, or if she has the money to pay for it. Shes better off using debit cards so there is zero risk of defaulting

    As a spender who cant "save", i choose to put up to 70% of my income into investments and no turning back since . And yeah, I choose investment that giving me more % than inflation rate. Thats the fundamental of why investors invest.

      I was really shocked when I hear people like him spending over $500 per month on insurance plans as well. It is great that he and his wife are prudent. One point to note that they should consider to leverage on the existing CPF schemes such as voluntary top up scheme if they are risk adverse individuals and to set aside for retirement planning. That being said, not everyone would be comfortable with topping up into their CPF accounts and yes simple index fund investing is a great way for personal financial planning as well.

      They kena fk big time by their endowment plan and ILP. The reason why insurance agent pushing these two are because they got the most money out of it.

    If most people do an automated savings account by putting $ 100 to $ 200 separately once they received their salary monthly, they could make it👍 That would add up in a year savings forward without thinking about it💪

    I actually agree using the debit card,i do the same thing coz I believe that credit card is still a somewhat like borrowed money that is like digging a hole for your early death if you can't control it

    • @MoneywithEumi
      @MoneywithEumi 2 роки тому +7

      If you can't control your spending, use a debit card. However, if you have self control, there are plenty of credit card hacks. Sign up bonuses for example. I swipe it everywhere even if I'm buying a $1 tea. I accumulate the points to redeem flights for free.

    Wished CNA interviewed me instead. Honestly, if you know how to invest, you only need term insurance + critical illness and hospitalization plan. Insurance products have poor returns. My roboinvesting has an average of 13% for the past 3 years without me doing anything except to set up auto deposit. Will continue to monitor and compare with S&P500 and my own stock picking performance. And for emergency fund, after covid, it's safer to have at least 6 months worth of emergency funds. I have a year's worth just to be safe. And as you're trying to build your wealth after uni, live like a freaking beggar. Think that you're super poor like you're making $1k even if you're making $5k as a fresh grad in Singapore. Then invest the rest. That's how you get ahead of the game.

    • @eddy-currents
      @eddy-currents 2 роки тому

      Frankly speaking, Singaporeans in general take way too long to get into investing. I started dabbling in paper trading at 16 and then actually started at 18. Already at the stage where I am financially independent even though I have yet to graduate from university. Even so, I wish I started even earlier and captured a lot more of those market returns.

    Asking these 2 dinosuars who called themself experts is way out of times. Saving cant do much. Its expanding your income revenue that is the key. Suggesting using a debit card is a poor recomendation. Credit card is no way worse off than a debit card.

    By the way I'm also from Swab Ops, the government has already started to close the position since Mid October, so.... GG Jasmin. Time to work in another line, or work as a swabber in the private companies which pay lesser than $3k a month :/ Jiayou!

      Really? Then why is there job ad for swabber recruitment for I think the sg cancer centre hospital in jobstreet and for the Changi airport VTL ticket price include the covid-19 test?
      Are you just talking about hpb or public hospital then and are you talking about them not hiring newbies for swab ops or not extending or rehire those swabbers?

    Just saving in a saving account, to me it’s not an ideal advice, invest in a mutual fund ,index funds or ETF n contribute every pay day n with dividends reinvested is a better choice.
