I saw the perfect comeback to somebody on a train having a very loud conversation on their phone. When they say "I am on a train, you shout over "No he's not, he's in a brothel".

The Two Ronnies were rare geniuses with brilliant writers beside them and we will never see such comedy like this again.

Love the Two Ronnies. They were a staple in my younger years & everyone I know considers their comedy routines some of the best in British history. Very clever wordplay & so well executed. The ‘Boring Accountant’ sketch is another great one to view.

I think there are too many British references in that one, would get lost in translation….despite it possibly being their best sketch

i'm not sure why people always suggest the 4 Candles sketch as a starting point for The Two Ronnies. i think this is one of their best along with the Crossword sketch, the Mastermind sketch and the Round Of Drinks sketch - not only are they all very clever and well written but you can tell they're having fun with them. 4 Candles has a different feel which works for the context of the sketch but does little favour for those watching them for the first time. i'm glad you've persisted, there are some real comedy gems to come.

    • @zmalevo2126

Yes i agree it is annoying when there is an "officially best" example of an artists work like the 4 candles sketch in this case

I only watched 2 of your Videos so far (both about "The Two Ronnies"), but these were absolutely splendid (as they would probably say in England).
Also i think you two have a very good chemistry between you, which is always good for reaction videos.
Kepp the great content up! 🙂

i have to agree with Nick on the number of people who discuss private things on the phone in public, its crazy the things i have heard people talk about especially when bluetooth/handsfree headsets first came out and people had long hair so you didn't know if they were on the phone or just hearing the "voices".
i can kind of see why you might play music or watch a video with the sound on while in a public bathroom as some people are shy about being overheard using the toilet and use it to drown out any bodily sounds they might be making i wouldn't do it as i feel it would attract more attention but i can see the line of thinking.

A few short years before this sketch I was in the cub scouts and I was given a two pence piece to call my akela to demonstrate that I could use a public phone in an emergency. The nearest payphone was a twenty minute walk away from our house😂 We did have a phone in the house, in the 1970s there was a three month wait to get one, and even then it was what was called a party line in that the circuit was shared with a neighbour ..... we had a party line with Kenny Baker, R2D2, and his wife was always listening in to our calls🤣

Ronnie Barker suddenly exited show business in 1988 at the age of 59. He had an antique shop in The Cotswolds and he suffered heart problems for quite a while before his death in 2005 aged 76. Ronnie Corbett was a showman until the end. He played golf with Rob Brydon, of WILTY fame, who tells a very funny story about when his wife was in labour and he had to decide whether to play golf with Ronnie or support his wife! Ronnie C died aged 86 in 2016.

Clever wordplay features a lot in Two Ronnies skits. The larger one was Ronnie Barker, the smaller one was Ronnie Corbett, both are sadly no longer with us. An impressive example of their memory of script and verbal dexterity can be found in: ‘Ponting Punting’.
They also did humorous musical number in their show, if you like American Country Music, you may appreciate their performance as:
    ‘Slim Pickman and Polly Parton’

I'm the same, so annoying people watching things with their volume loud. It's even more annoying when they have a conversation on loud speaker! Why?!!! Just hold it to your ear, people dont want to listen to your conversation?! 😂 I lives the two Ronnie's. Very cleverly written.

Even though i tend to prefer our British stand ups (like Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr, Peter Kay, Sarah Millican, Michael McIntyre etc), and our sitcoms (like Coupling, Friday Night Dinner, The Inbetweeners, Fawlty Towers, Two Doors Down etc) this is my favourite Two Ronnies sketch.

Random one for you... Peter Boghossian 'An Inside Look At The UK's Strictest School w/Katharine Birbalsingh'. Not your usual reaction fodder as it's serious, but with being teachers you might find it interesting. Katharine's schools gets outstanding results from a, non-selected, mixed intake... yet is ignored and shunned by the rest of UK education.

What Nick said about the chap listening to music on his Mob. It's the way of the world. The kids today are told that as an individual they are the most important thing on the planet.
This is why most marriages these days don't last long. They have absolutely no idea about taking into account anyone else's wants and feelings other than thier own.
