Ive owned a 2009 Fit since new and snow tires are a must for me. I live in NJ and the first winter I had the car I was surprised at how bad it was in light snow. That being said , I have snow tires on it now and have driven in heavy snow where the only other cars on the road were big trucks. Snow tires make a huge difference.
I put snow tires on my 2008 Honda Fit and that car goes through 4"-5" of snow with no problem. It is because it has skinny 14" tires on it like the old volkswagon beetles that were amazing in the snow!
You really need snow tires on your Fit. Snow tires would really enhance traction. When you were somewhat stuck the snow did not even touch the bottom of the car yet. Simply flooring the gas will not get you unstuck. With a manual you could rock the car back and forth.
jggpj thanks, am interested in buying one and my brother suggested me checking it out to see how it would do. Just moved back to NY and this will be my first winter in the snow and wanted to check it out..
Thank you so much for posting this. I'm a current 2007 CRV owner and was considering either the New CRV, HRV, or the FIT. This video confirmed for me better than anything else that with my snowy climate, I definitely need to stick with something with greater ground clearance than the FIT. I wish it weren't so, because all the reviews of the FIT are stellar, and I would love to get back into a smaller car. Will check the HR-V next.
That's what use to believe living in New Jersey, but because of climate change it hasn't snowed in 3 years, so I don't have to worry about ground clearance anymore
lol you don't need snow tires for winter driving but you do need to know to put your transmission in 1st gives your vehicle more control in the snow (you can go up to 35mph in 1st gear )and max engine braking when needed.
I have a 2017 lx fit and for me the biggest annoyance in the winter is that snow packs in the shield under the engine and pulls out the push pins so it drags on the ground. I have gotten high centered a few times.
Mine's passable with stock tires and MT. It's a Sport so the added body kit does not help with clearance. I did fine up to 5". After that it's too iffy. The HR-V (4wd Honda Fit coming end 2015) should be a decent snow car.
Do you use the paddles in snow whay o want to know is how when to use them inn snow i just got a fit couple days ago i don't know anything about paddles i always had 4 wheel drive
anyone go has fast has the fast forward was going when he hit that first exit off the freeway would of been right in the ditch.. lol i consider my self a pro driver in snow im from minnesota ever minnesotan knows how to take the wheel in a snow storm

yeah. i'm in rural PA and my Honda Fit can handle any snow with tire chains. no need for AWD
HMM, no snow here, should i get it anyway. How much is it. Maybe it would work well in heavy rain too. I have the same model I think... mine is sports
Yea the stock Dunlops are straight trash in any weather. First thing any Fit owner needs to do is tire upgrade!
Romel Fernandez thank you for letting me know that!
Yep. Snow tires are like having 4x4. I would have never believed it when I was younger, but snow tires are amazing and I am never going back!
I have a Honda fit sport with Michelin X ice snow tires on it works awesome in the snow
Thank you! Being based in Wisconsin (oshkosh) and needing to drive long distances every week this was my one concern for this car.
Flooring it is how you "Lose" traction in the snow.
Gotta feather it and it'll at least get some traction
I had honda fit and it works well in winter driving.... i'm from Toronto
what kind of tires do you recommend?
Me same English okay winter car drive

Just bought the 2018 Honda Fit EX model. I live in NY and winter can be a blister. Just put on some good snow/winter tires, and no problem.
jggpj I am worried that fit cant handle strong wind and 1.5 engine seems to be not enough for winter ? Do you think so ?

@@cainephung781 I have a 2008 Honda Fit and the 1.5L has tons of power in the snow. It is nothing like the brand new Toyota Yaris that is GUTLESS,
Awesome Shots!
It's such a well-balanced car, really helps out in snow. The back end doesn't whip around on you like a lot of fwd cars.

If you are stuck in snow or not getting good grip from starting out, put in 2nd gear instead of 1st. Less slippage.

Is it worth the hassle? Or should I go for a sudan?
Deciding between an Impreza and a Fit.Great vid. What music was that?
I just bought the 2016 Honda Fit EX, would you suggest i get snow tires?
All season tires with snow chains

All weather tires… Bridgestone Weatherpeak are recommended
