Hello Nigel, I’ve just managed to purchase this kit at a bargain price. I will be following along with your series. I’m really looking forward to it. I love your channel very much.
Great tip on black CA and an accelerator, thanks for that. Great to see you back on top of your game, every chap should have at least one Lancaster in their collection !
Nigel you have smashed it! Great words of modelling wisdom combined with historic research - I will forever remember the de-icer box step now 🙏. You bring gray sprues to life weaving research and assembly methods in a captivating narrative. More please kind sir !
Been waiting so long for this! I'm absolutely delighted you've filmed this beautiful model as you work your magic. I have my kit ready to flip the lid, think I'll watch all the vids you have on this before starting. Many thanks Nige.
Nigel so glad you're doing this I've at last got the excuse to pull this out of my stash. Seen so far part 1 and that's where I'm at ,looking forward to part 2 of the build. Keep doing what you're doing. Looking forward to part 2.
Looking forward to this build. I just finished a Revell Lancaster and have a second Revell kit to build. Cheap and the decals were for aircraft based at airfields near me, so to honour those who flew them. Now tempted to buy that Airfix kit!
Thanks Nigel. This looks like just what I need. Have built three tanks and one plane and been thinking of progressing onto a heavy bomber and a more intermediate build. Have just started airbrushing too. Will follow this with keen interest and a likely purchase, Chris.
I know this is a banked video but glad to see you starting to post stuff again Nigel..... Hope you are slowly getting there ....... Enjoyed this video so much I have just bought this model this morning.... Keep up the good work and hope to see you soon 👍👍
Great to see this build series, I love the Lancaster will look forward to this in the coming weeks as I recover from open heart surgery 2 weeks ago. Hope you are doing ok Nigel.
Hi Nigel, this looks to be a great little build, I know by what I have seen of you work in the past, at the end this will be a stunning build when finished, I hope you ard 'bearing up' after your recent loss, very bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Hi Nigel, That looks like a nice kit👍🏻. I always wonder how they get misalignment in molds as the got alignment pins, mystery. (plus this kit is new). Nice to have you back👋🏻
My own note on T - Tommy, it wasn't meant to be used on the raid at all - the original bird developed a glycol leak as it was being readied for action on the day. everything was switched at the last minute - even then the crew was thirty minutes late taking off. From what I gather she kept her belly gun for the raid but it was never used.
First and foremost I hope you are starting to feel a bit better following your loss. Great rerelease for me also Nigel. Just picked up an Airfix BOBMF set at Scottish national model show recently for £25. Primarily wanted it for the Lanc BIII which is the 2012 tool I believe and the version this dambusters kit is based on. Please correct me if I am wrong. I value your builds when I have the same kit as your expertise helps avoid errors and corrects mistakes which have been made in the kits. Looking forward to the series TY
Ive got the old 1980 tooling (the one that came in the 617 squadron box set along with a 1/48 Tornado), if nothing else this'll help with colours and techniques.
And we're off! Been looking forward to this one, Nige. So we start off with a mystery; what does the correct tail wheel look like? Wingleader books here i come. I hope you are feeling better, Nige, and getting back in the groove. Nil Carborundum!
Nice video I’m sure many people will love this. I’m assuming this is the build you referred to that’s all done, especially as you said this was filmed 1/1/24. Looking forward to the next one.👍 I hope you’re doing ok?
Hi Nigel, hope that you are on the "mend". Just a question on the drillbits, is the discriminant between the knock-off Microbox and real MICROBOX drills the capitalisation of brand? Plenty of the former on sale down here, and Vallejo have the latter on sale - do you know whether the Vallejo ones are actually the real deal?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on glues I gotta a draw full...I've got Tamiya white, lime, green top (my go to)...PVA glues of varying brands....CA glues from Bob Smith and VMS, now seems I need something for ABS as Tamiya works but takes a while.. I've been told Plastic Magic is best for ABS plastic.. but honestly glue is a mine field sometimes
So glad to see that you're still posting. (Though was this really from January 1st??) Anyways I really trust your judgment so I wanted to ask your opinion in the new Very Fire 1/350 IJN Yamato with the detail up set (deluxe kit)? I really want to pull the trigger on the preorder price. But I have never seen the quality of that brand. So if you have any opinions on it I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance. Cheers.
I'd like to do a Grand Slam Lancaster with the front turret deleted. Can you recommend a conversion kit Nige, or is it just easier to get the older Tamiya B.I Special?
Looking to buy same model but search mainly finds A09007A with a different box picture but similar price, still a dambuster special but for some reason different, any ideas Nigel before I purchase please?
I think the kit is even early than that as my mate and I made Aifix Dambuster in 1964....or thereabouts as it was just before the introduction of decimal currency in Australian on Feb 14 1966.... and i guess it might be even earlier than that but I would think there would be newer tooling by now.

Nigel, another fantastic guide to building a fantastic kit. Kind regards, and I look forward to the next part
Great video Nigel. Glad to see you back at the bench, and hope you are getting along OK. Our thoughts are with you , mate.

Nice, even though I'm not a newbie this is still interesting to watch, always something to learn. So thanks for this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have the Hasegawa kit but I wish I waited for the Airfix kit. Thanks for tips.👍 Happy D-Day 80th anniversary.
Great to see this build series, I love the Lancaster will look forward to this in the coming weeks as I recover from open heart surgery 2 weeks ago. Hope you are doing ok Nigel.
Very good video, I have seen some details that I overlooked, but now I will be aware of them when I am putting together a kit.

Yay! Another newbie build, love it
Nice one Nigel. I'm looking to do a Grandslam conversion so looking forward to your insights on colours etc

Hope you enjoy it!
Glad to see you back, if you do need more time just do so.
Even Nige, it looks good, I may get the lancaster 😊
You should, it's a lovely build.
Glad to see you back
Not really "back" but getting there thanks bud.

Not really Dave, this is old content.. I am getting there though....
Holy Hot-Pants!!!
Heck yeah!! ❤️
Just finished the 1/48 Tamiya

In my experience the capitalisation is the difference. I wouldn't like to say if Vallejo are genuine?
@@NigelsModellingBench Many thanks.
Nice
Thanks
I just ordered the new 1/48 HKM Lancaster Dambuster! Amazingly inexpensive…. $84 CDN.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on glues I gotta a draw full...I've got Tamiya white, lime, green top (my go to)...PVA glues of varying brands....CA glues from Bob Smith and VMS, now seems I need something for ABS as Tamiya works but takes a while.. Those drills are cnc pcb production drills and are also very brittle.
Good idea for a vid.
Glad you think so!
Hey Nigel! What Tamiya LP paint or competitor would you suggest for my Thunderbolt natural metal finish??
There are a million methods for NMF Paul.. best look around and see which one you like.
Ok thanks.
Just thinking of you buddy, hope your ok
Getting there, thank you Martin.
I'd like to do a Grand Slam Lancaster with the front turret deleted. Can you recommend a conversion kit Nige, or is it just easier to get the older Tamiya B.I Special?
I’m sure there is there a set out there.
It’s to bad you can’t get tenax cement anymore.
Looking to buy same model but search mainly finds A09007A with a different box picture but similar price, still a dambuster special but for some reason different, any ideas Nigel before I purchase please?
This kit has come in various box arts and versions. Scalemates is your friend here.
FE version is Tiger Force Nige
Thanks James, you know how it is.. camera on... brain dead!! lol.
@@NigelsModellingBench Yep I know polycaps get everytime lol
When was the original issue of this kit? I built one back in 1975 or so... one of my first kits as a youth.
This is a newer tooling..
