I got into them since the beginning. In Germany, the albums after Jeans for Onassis weren't widely available, and if, highly overpriced. The homepage got closed like 10 years ago. You just didn't get any news. I didn't even got the news about their reunion back then. And even today, after all these years, you barely find anything i.e. something from their performances on UA-cam, or even anything like a bio about the members (aside Lise). A band can't be successful if there's so little action. The reason for this all? Hell, I'd like to know.
@@Sloppylicious I was massively into them right from the first single, and i early on started seeing them as the next big thing since A-Ha. Well,Span also had a decent attempt on making it in the US,before they went separate ways. But yeah,Briskeby had that potential too. Amazing liveshows as well as really good music videos, the way they represented themselfs in interviews. My hope was there....but i also started thinking about the bad omen that has been affecting Norwegian bands and Artists wanting to make it internationally. They got the talent and all that, but everyone has suffered from just horrible/tragic management/promotion. Briskeby seemed like someone that did the things they did best, and hoped for labels/managements etc to take care of the rest. I know that 1 of them is a teacher, and if im not sadly mistacen one was a farmer before Briskeby. So not very rock n roll lifes at all. Lise is another subject then the guys, she was allways on a red carpet, doing television show appearances, seemed to be comfortable in the spotlight. But the other guys never did any public stuff,if it wasnt a Briskeby promotion thing with Lise. I think the lack of updates on the guys, has that logical explanation. I have been following them closely since the early start, and i barely know anything of the others. I know some of course, but that mostly came from Briskeby interviews in Norwegian. Why they didnt make it big? I still think it was because of terrible promotion/management,because Briskeby departed due to: "Didnt sell enough records",a public statement one of the Hosts for VG Lista Top 20 announced when they had just departed. So Lise Karlsnes tried to get a solo career going, while the other guys went back to theyr old professions. Lise never really got the solo career she hoped for,sadly...... It pains me to know about the lack of albums, and the serious overprizing......but i can almost guarantee you it wasnt a decision from the band themselfs. They just wanted as many as possible to be able to listen to theyr music. Again, this is another reason why i think they got struck by over the top money hungry/grabing,incompetent management and promotion...... Briskeby isnt the first band to suffer from this. This is why you see bands from Sweden come in line, one after the other and have success. Finland has really come strong over recent years since the mid-late 90s as well. But somehow, all this talent in Norway seems to be choked by incompetent management/promotion. It has even raised debate here why this is happening. Noone really knows for sure, but more and more thinks that this comes down to a management/promotion problem. Some of the bands that has managed to break this bad Omen early on,is Dimmu Borgir. But they also had more of a "FU" attitude going forward. It was either theyr way,or no way at all. Today they are a more or less independent stronghold as a band. And they have made it easier to reach international success as a Black/Death Metal band in Norway. Thats why you got hundreds upon hundreds of bands from Norway, just from theese Metal categories. As soon as it comes to hard rock, rock, pop etc.....the obstacles seems to get higher and more then the band/artist can handle. Its sad really......
My theory is that they came at just the wrong time. The world was looking for a new sound. This polished super-pop is very very good indeed, but is very "late 90s" at a time when the Strokes, the Hives and of course the White Stripes were just around the corner and impacted the music scene the same way that grunge killed goth rock. I was a new dad when the first LP came out and had very little time for gigs etc. when this band was starting to achieve some success here in Scandinavia. Only reason I became aware of them was when they appeared one morning on Danish breakfast TV doing "Propaganda" and I remembered to write their name down. I bought the first album not long after. That said, I always found their image to be a little contrived - trying too hard to be shiny and of the moment - but contrived is one of my guilty pleasures and there is no getting round the strength of the actual songs. I dug out my CD of this their third album the other day while I was cooking dinner - hadn't heard it for about 10 years - and it's just class from start to end.
A common thing i have noticed on every solo artist or band from Norway on YT is,unless they have a international following,Norwegians are horrible at supporting theyr own on YT. Even if the song has lets say 500 views over several years time, the like button can show like 3 likes. I allways found this really embarrasing,on behalf of my own people! I mean,we are only 5 million, but come on......we can do better then that.

Its sad that such a great song and a good band like Briskeby are known for so few people.
That's so true. Years on this is such a magnificent tune. Love it to bits! ❤ Greetings from Norway
I've been looking for this song like 16 years. Only heard once on like MTV
Min favoritt sang av Briskeby. Hvad godt gjort, dere!
Få kram fra Uralbergene i Russland
I would like to understand as a band like that could make so little success! They were very good.

Thank you friend. It sort of sums it all off. Greets from our silent land of the north. 🇧🇻❤🖤

Simply amazing song, best by this band! And when I look at the views I think it must be one of the most underrated songs ever made too...
Ken Stringfellow should be mentioned here as the featured male singer :)
Best_song_ever_made.
