I think he functions better as a side character. I get that cameos are overdone, but it would sort of make sense in the Mandalorian? Din is sort of an intelligence agent now too

Both thought they were fighting for the right side, both were proven wrong when they inevitably got tossed to the side. Rex and Kallus have a lot in common. Both were seen as easily replaceable and both were tossed by the empire because of it.
