    Imagine if a nuclear apocalypse occurred, and all life was extincted, then, when a random house in the middle of nowhere falls down, a tiny vial of something green breaks falling off a shelf. Boom! Life again.

    I have an idea that pooped out in my mind: I go around from place to place, get some from that said place, make a terrarium, label it from where it came from, & then put it on display to show where on earth you've been.

    A cheap coffee grinder would come in handy for these projects, SerpaDesign. I also suggest using a fork when harvesting plants for inexperienced people. It will allow for the tines to pass through the roots while gently extracting them from the dirt unbroken. You can purchase plastic pipettes for about 5 cents a piece, and adding controlled amounts of water and bugs would be a very simple task using those. Other than those few suggestions I absolutely love this tutorial! It combines two of my favorite things, small swell containers and plants. It's almost February here in Minnesota so I am very sad to not be able to run out and create a few of these myself!

    When collecting plants and soil from outside, how do you make sure there are no pests in the plants/soil? I love making terrariums but I'm not fond of having bugs in my house (if I can avoid it).

    I have a few building technique ideas from other channels, but no one builds environments like you do! I’ll be saving this video c:

    Funnily enough I just ordered and received a miniature double apothecary bottle with a fork for a witches house miniature I am doing. This is a fantastic way to bring something real and interesting looking into the project. I will be out moss and mini plant hunting this weekend! I will tag you if it ends up being uploaded!
    I don't know if it's because I am British but I have no clue what a springtail is? Can you do it without these? There must be lifeforms in the mosses anyway?

    • @SerpaDesign
      @SerpaDesign  7 років тому +10

      The springtails help control and mold outbreaks and aid in creating a natural decomposition cycle. They will last as long as the terrarium does, which is indefinitely.
