    - The stream flows continuously, a pied shag roosting on a fallen tree
    - pied shag is a large black and white shag, and they are one of New Zealand's pretected birds

    - often seen indivdual in small group roosting on rock and trees
    - another pied shag was found not far away
    - it shows that there are still plenty of fish here
    - pied shags body size are large than black shags
    - worldwide are 36 species of shag also known as cormorants
    - 12 of these are found in New Zealand and they are fully protected by law
    - after a few days, i finally photographed a pied shag catching a fish

    - this pied shag is drying its wings in the sun
    - also can see a black shag resting on wooden stake
    - 2 hours later
    - one of the pied shag caught a big fish in the lake
    - its beak exceeds the body of the fish
    - the fish still struggling and looks like a catfish
    -carp are more common here
    - and this is my first time seeing the catfish
    - it seem that the chance of survival is relatively small
    - pie shag hasn't tried to swallow it yet
    - it shows that catfish has very strong vitality
    - catfish is king in the lake
    - but this time finally met its opponent
    - pird shag try to swallow it
    - this catfish not small either
    - i move forward a little
    - pied shag and catfish still entangled
    - catfish has no ability to resist
    - the pied shag has not yet tried to swallow it a second time
    - it continues to push the catfish into the water
    - and try to swallow the catfish again
    - pied shag keep pushing the catfish into water
    - on the third time try, it finally ate the catfish .
