Thanks for the great review, I booked my first cruise on the Britannia yesterday to go to the Fjords for next year. Hoping it will be good as I’ve only been on Iona before and I’ve treated myself to a solo balcony cabin which looks really good on your video.
Great to see Britannia freshly polished and ready to go again - she was one of my first experiences with P&O, and I was really impressed - she’s looking in great shape now! Also, interesting that you felt she scored higher than Iona on your league table - I love the size of Britannia as a ship, and reckon I’d potentially prefer her too. Great video, Tom! ❤
Evening Fraser! As always thank-you for watching. I must admit on the whole I really like her and as you say almost the perfect size, although maybe bigger ships with the offering especially in food have spoilt us. As always thanks for your kind words.
Great review, it does seem as if she needed a few more days to be ready for paying passengers again. I wish someone at P&O would take a look at other cruise lines to see how buffets should be and yes, to develop a fully functioning app too.
Great video Tom! We've never covered solo cabins before, but they look very practicle for someone looking to cruise solo. Shame to see P&O couldn't finish everything on time for the refit, they should defiantly leave the ships in dry dock for longer when it comes to refits.
Love Britannia. ❤ Nice to see the refresh ahead of her anniversary cruise next year. They’ve done a good job. Thanks for showing us the updated areas. Shame they were still finishing up some of the bits, but that’s the downside of the first cruises after a refit - you never know if they will get it all done in time. 😂
Hey Stef. Thanks for watching. Yes it did look all sparkly and new especially for the 10 year next year. Yes it’s always a risk, although not a problem for future cruises. I did like her and actually really could imagine me sailing around the Caribbean drink in hand on her decks…
Looking forward to this one! That’s interesting about the embarkment, wow, we were so lucky when we went on Iona, we walked straight through, took no more than 15 mins or so. We don’t know what it was like before the refurb but this is looking good. The atrium is interesting, it’s very square but looks lovely. Interesting to see the solo room, shame about the TV service, did the price you pay take into account that you were a solo traveller? That food looks great. Love Sindhu. We really need to try more of the speciality restaurants. Shame about the buffet too, ah, we loved the Quays. Ice cream filled doughnuts? Interesting haha! 3 out of 5 for food is ok though. Lovely shout out to the two chaps who work there. An hour and a half for food, ooh, that’s not great. That show looked great, not seen Gareth Oliver live but have seen him a few times on various things. Northern Europe cruise, oh yes, this is what we did. We’d love to do the SS Rotterdam, in fact, we’d like to do Rotterdam again, we loved it. We’d have loved longer in Bruges, £600 not too bad to be honest, the value for money is really good. Really enjoyed that, top stuff!!
Hey both!! I love your replies you follow the whole video. Yes the price was less but still cost effective to go as a couple or friends. I know I was disappointed we didn’t have the ingredients for ice cream filled doughnuts sounded well interesting. Think you two would like Britannia you need to get it booked 🤣 Cheers 🍻
Yes we agree Britannia is looking freshened-up. Nice springy carpets. However, obviously faulty air-conditioning although upon complaints they never acknowledged this. Temperature varied dramatically in different zones. Horizon buffet was unacceptably freezing! Passengers were wearing jackets, hats, scarves etc indoors!! Furthermore not had any feedback upon writing in to complain.... shame on your customer service P&O!!!
We were also on this cruise, cruised lots but first time on Britannia and we were disappointed. Lovely ship, good food but lacked entertainment compared to other p&o ships and found ourselves a little bored. Expected a deep clean to of been done through the re-fit, but our room was filthy 😕
Hi Kerrie thanks for watching. That’s a real shame on the cabin! Yes as saw in video I did think in food and entertainment it could have gone up a notch or two. Thanks again for watching
Hi thanks for watching. We love the glass house. My main point with few niggles that with slightly longer refit these things would all be sorted, the next cruise that’s underway now has pretty much everything up and running. Only small niggles generally loved the ship.
I think you've answered my question but can i just check? Everyone joins that big queue you show at 1 min 10 seconds? Then P&O staff come along and bring you forward if you're at your boarding time?
Being fairly new to cruising and hating flying I do like it. I have done Iona and Arvia which I thought were amazing, clean spacious and great food especially the Quays and the Diner. I am going on Britannia soon in July and have to say I am a little worried as there is no Quays or Diner... the Quays especially does great food and no messing with apps or times, just turn up eat and out. I am worried about the lack of entertainment as well as there is no 710 club as in the Iona and Arvia which is brilliant. One thing I never understand though.... when people say they prefer a smaller ship? Why? It's all the same in the end. If one ship holds 6k then there are more food areas and more entertainment than the ships that hold 3.5k
Hi Michael. Thanks for watching and commenting. I hear your concerns about lack of Quays etc, I guess you don’t miss it until it’s not there. It’s all a matter of opinion though you might love the buffet onboard. I do agree the bigger ships do give you far more choice.
Would it be a problem if you hav'nt got a smart phone. We were regular cruises before covid but everything seems to be done in an app now which we hav'nt got access to.
Hi Raymond thanks for watching. In my eyes on Britannia you don’t have to access the app at all. Reception can do all that the app does. Entertainment doesn’t need booking like Arvia and Iona, you get a paper copy of horizon and specialty restaurants can be booked before or at reception. I actually think not accessing it would lead to a less stressful cruise!
Hi thanks for watching. 💯 agree the app would enhance a lot of things, frustrating that P&O have same parent company but not given the same tools. The ship was full
Watched this review with interest. Still didn't impress me enough to try another cruise on Brittania. Cruised to Norwegian Ffords pre refit. Dreadful. Embarkation delayed by 3 hours due to fire onboard. Filthy cabin (spilt sticky coffee down units). Couldn't get in to dinner even though I had been allocated a restaurant - solo traveller and they said there was no room for one person only. Had to go for buffet for whole cruise. Sculpture in atrium badly scratched, looked plastic and cheap. 1st day at sea, toilets throughout the ship were blocked and not available - very difficult. Decks etc looked more MDF cheap and dirty. Spa was extremely expensive and had to book for the week, not hourly or daily. I did as I was looking for a holiday treat. The steam room was luke warm and the sauna didn't heat up at all. The pool was the only working item in there. I tried to complain at customer services but the girl just stood and stared blankly at me. No action taken. I completed the survey and awaited a response - nothing. I cringed when they repeatedly said the ship was their "beautiful flag ship..." They should have been totally ashamed. I totally regretted booking the cruise and felt I should have received at least an apology for the disaster of the long awaited holiday. Never again on P&O.

We’ve only been on one cruise and that was Alaska on NCL Norwegian Pearl, we’ve now booked a P&O Cruise for May 2025 to Norwegian Fjords on Brittania. I have to say I’m a bit worried, we had such a wonderful experience with NCL, so much was included and the food really was wonderful, not just the speciality restaurants, the main dining rooms, various cafe’s, even the buffet were very impressive. The images/videos I’ve seen of the included food on Britannia her on YT and on FBK groups, looks very disappointing, some even looked more like school or hospital cafeteria food, which is not what you expect when you’re paying a decent price for the cruise. We’ll see how we get on, but if we’re looking to book again before we go on this one I think I’ll stick with what we know. Or do you think we should try Princess, or celebrity, Ambassador looked nice but very expensive. Thanks for your in-depth review videos.
@@joohobbs464 hey, thanks for watching and your kind words. NCL is on the list and we are actually looking at one next year. I would say you will notice a little difference, but I guess you do have difference in price. I didn’t rate the buffet but others find it ok, the MDR can be hit and miss hopefully it’s mainly a hit for you. If have a few extra pennies I would advise to try the specialty restaurants all worth it in my view. Lastly even if some food offerings lack a little, hopefully your like Britannia and your also in stunning Norway which is an amazing cruise.
We did the translantic back to Southampton just before the refit, alot of problems . toilets out of order taps not working aircon leaking and smelt Appalling ' also noticed that the waiters never had tablets which only made there jobs more difficult
