'Me Nah Leave Yet' Ft Gilly G is one of the versions featured on the 'You Haven't Called' EP the second release from UB40’s forthcoming new album ‘For The Many’ and now here is the second video for the single.
‘You Haven’t Called’ was written by UB40 founding member, co-vocalist and guitarist Robin Campbell, and features his younger brother Duncan Campbell on lead vocals. This version 'Me Nah Leave Yet' is a collaboration with Gilly G, who you may remember from the first single 'Moonlight Lover'. He gives the track his own flavour, with his cool rap continuing the original topic of the track.
Robin said, “I wrote ‘You Haven’t Called’ over 20 years ago, specifically for a solo album Duncan was recording in Jamaica. It was meant to be a nod to the cool ruler Gregory Isaacs (Official Gregory Isaacs) in the style of ‘Night Nurse’ and ‘The Border’. Duncan loved the track, but his producer at the time had other ideas, so the song never made it beyond the demo stage.
“I’ve always harboured a desire to record the song and when I played the demo to the rest of the band everybody loved it, so we decided to rerecord it for our new album. I also loved Gilly G's contribution to the collaboration track 'Me Nah Leave Yet' gives it a whole different flavour”
