Taurus PT-92 age related malfunctions

  • My Taurus is unreliable and I don't know why. There are so many moving parts which need to work harmoniously, and I don't know which one, or ones, are out of tolerance. What if every one is just slightly off? Tolerances and specs are cumulative. So the sum of all issues makes my pistol unreliable. At this point it's just a sentimental piece for range days.

    Replace extractor/extractor spring. Replace hammer spring, and also the recoil spring. Gun should be fine.

    Stove top is a stuffing you eat. Stove pipe is a stuck empty cartridge.

    Watching this video was painful. I have seldom seen somebody use a pistol with so little knowledge about it. There is NOTHING wrong with your pistol that some basic maintenance and a few new parts would not fix. Instead of saying "not reliable" you should have said "not properly taken care of".

      I'm curious how many guns you have and how much shooting you do in a typical month and how long you've had your guns.... You don't seem to think gun parts wear out together...

      @@planefun2962 Obviously, I don't think parts ever, ever, ever, wear out. That is why, in my previous comment, I said "There is NOTHING wrong with your pistol that some basic maintenance and a few new parts would not fix".
      Oh well....

    I recommend to clean the gun second change the guide rod spring for 10 pound one and if tht don't fix the problem get a new bullet extractor. But where fire pin is at soaked on cleaning solution for little bit and give it nice cleaning saw ur barrel dirty

    Another issue, I wouldn't trust the safety de-cock feature without assistance. Mine, after awhile has failed to lower the hammer, without hitting the firing pin. Luckily I found this out while pointing the gun downrange t the targets. Used the lever to "safely de-cock" it and it fired the round in the chamber.

    First try different ammo..at least two or three different manufacturers... Then I would try replacing springs.... If no luck... Replace the extractor... The elongated pin hole is troublesome... May be a parts gun....sorry.

    Beretta design is not reliable in general. That's why they were replaced by Glock. Id rather get Taurus over Beretta. I like safety on the frame.

    • @planefun2962
      @planefun2962  8 місяців тому +1

      Yup... I like the Taurus design better. I can work the safety with one hand. I can safe it cocked, and and can drop the hammer better.

      What are you talking about? The 92 is a very proven design. I used it for many years on duty. Further, when was it replaced by Glock? It wasn't. In the military the M9 was replaced by a Sig modular design. It had nothing to do with reliability. Police took to the Glock for various reasons. In doing so they went away from all metal framed pistols, including S&W and Sig. Once again, it had nothing to do with reliability. If you like the Glock design better that's fine, but to make a broad statement that is factually incorrect shows a general lack of knowledge.

      @@truedawg1339 what are you on about? Just UA-cam search Beretta m9 sand reliability. I am surprised you had no clue about it

    • @truedawg1339
      @truedawg1339 8 місяців тому +3

      @@mrdato116 Yeah and then research why it was not reliable in sand. On the rare occasions you may have had problems it was almost always because of the Check-Mate aftermarket magazines that were issued. Further, you can youtube search anything and find whiners. From Ford trucks to Apple computers. You can also find just as many praising those same products.
      However, unlike most, I speak from experience. I carried the M9 for years, including numerous tours in "the sand" and it served me well. The military armorers also spoke well of the weapon. Once again, the only complaint had to do with the aftermarket mags that would bind up if sand got in them and that had nothing to do with the Beretta design. I stand by my original comment that you have a lack of knowledge and you proved it again.
