Dear Mary Thanks a bunch. I am from Sri Lanka and there is no Dollar tree but your ideas give me ideas where I can adopt. Love your videos and I must say I bumped into your videos by accident and I am happy that I did. Stay safe
I use ‘Button Folders’ with names of each of the months on it. Then, when I make a special card for my family/friends’ bday I put it in the folder of their birthday month!
Yeahhh that's freaking genius! Monthly organizers for cards, savings, bills, budgeting, recipes to try, seasonal stickers...I could go ok. Such inspiration!
Hi 🙋♀️ Mary, you double up on the cork to make a place your pictures. Thanks for sharing. Happy crafting on a budget 💲. Happy everything on a budget💲. See👁 you in the next 🎥 and on the flipside. 👼🌹
thanks for sharing. love dollar store items that can be used outside the box. I have used the clear nail polish to add shine or dimension on my cards. use straight from the bottle and use the brush. thanks again.
Thank you for sharing this video. I am always looking for ideas to save money. Stamps are expensive enough! Any idea to organize and save money is totally a thumbs up in my book. Love your slim cards. Also, I was trying to see how you organize your dies. Maybe I missed your video.
Mary, that was fantastic, I love those gold silver and white markers. Use a lot of their bins for my stamps and even some dies. Been hoping to find the dies they are now selling. No luck yet. But, I did buy 10 of the larger wooden bins to glue together, then paint for ink pad storage. Not sure how to video but your more than welcome to preview it on your channel. I bought one ink pad storage shelf and it cost $95 shipped. Way to pricy for all of my different ink collections. Tfs. Blessings!
Thank you for the lovely class and information today..What a Beautiful lil lady! I love the clip board craft ..Thank you again and Have a Beautiful Blessed Day!!
Omgosh I love cheap, if it works. Oh how I love your channel. These vids u share, are so appreciated. Please pkease share more. You think outside the box, which is so great, n then u share with us. Thank u.
I've found if things get stuck in my hole punch or arc punch, if I take the bottom off I can push the puncher parts (not sure what to call them) and sometimes it saves my projects. Thanks for the video!
I hope you saved the sequins from that folder. Would make a cute shaker card. You probably shook some of them up under the punches, which made what you were cutting even thicker. Sequin material does not punch ( tried it once). I would use some fancy duck tape on the button pouch to seal the ends if I were you. We happen to have an industrial sealer, bought really cheap at an auction, it would seal them. I have used it for shaker pouches. Love your videos! Thanks for sharing!
Along the lines of the button envelopes/folders, I found zipper envelopes/pouches. They are also plastic, but have a Ziploc-style slider closure. (Not like a clothing zipper.) They easily hold several sheets of up to letter-size (8-1/2x11") paper. They are also gusseted, and so can expand to maybe 1/2" thick or so. I recently had a large card order, and had to keep several colors of cardstock sheets & scraps organized & corralled. The pouches worked beautifully! As for the photo paper, I would NOT recommend it for printing photos. Obviously not alcohol inks, either. :) BUT, there is a cool technique you can do on it with Distress Oxide inks. Do ink smooshing, drying the paper between layers to keep the colors from muddying. (If you use a heat tool, keep in mind that you will warp the paper. If you keep the tool moving, though, it shouldn't warp too too badly.) When you're done, you can even stamp images on top with dark Oxide ink. (I have used Black Soot for that step, though I think any dark color would work.) Make sure the ink is thoroughly dry, then wipe over it (lightly) with a baby wipe. Don't scrub, though! You'll have to wipe it a few times, using different (clean) parts of the baby wipe to keep the colors from smearing much. The colors just magically turn from chalky & dull to bold & shiny. It's basically the same technique Tim Holtz demonstrated with glossy cardstock & Distress Micro Glaze. Just a LOT cheaper! Best part? You can get a total of 32 A2-size (quarter-sheet) panels from one $1 pack of photo paper from Dollar Tree! Full disclosure--this is not my original idea. I learned this from another gal at Splitcoaststampers. Anyway, thanks for sharing your fun & CHEAP finds, Mary. Take care, & I hope you have a fantabulous day! :)
I love this so much; thank you for all the share in here. YAY! Such great ideas for how you use them. Thanks for taking the time to write this up for us.
Mary, you are awesome!!! I know different dollar tree stores carry different things so I hope my store carries those things!! I will have to check it out next week!! Thanks for sharing!!! So glad to see you posted another video!!! :) BIG HUGS!!!
Omgoodness, I was so excited to see this video come up....you always put a smile on my face, not to mention your great ideas! I have one for you tho'.....well you may know it already, but, I use an empty pill bottle to hold my bottle of glue upside down on my desk....now tell me this one is new to you and you love it! LOL Please keep sharing these DT videos, I love your cheerful personality and inspirations!
You can close it by putting foil on the ends and use your iron hot but do it lightly and swiftly. And remove the foil directly. You can save the folder also by cutting of the broken part and closing it with iron..
The Crop-a-Dile punches will probably go through that plastic folder. Also a round hole leather punch, a hammer, and a self-healing mat works. Nothing else will.
It would have been hilarious to have a PG13 or higher video, but I'm sorry your folder got chewed up. Fantastic ideas, totally stealing a few. Especially the button folders and omg the glitter nail polish idea!
Absolutely, you are correct. I think that's why it's so irritating when I have to get up but never could articulate it. I thought I was just being lazy
Hi Ann, was just talking to my niece from Tennessee and I told her to watch you!! Oh that Donna B. She sure is spoiling you, lol! How thoughtful of her!! What nice prezzies, you sure are blessed with some nice and thoughtful friends!! So happy the weather is getting better for you!! You have a fabulous day, Ann!! Love and Hugs! 💚💖🤗🤗
I'm late in watching this but you could have extended the edge of the sequin folders with duct tape or clear contact paper. You would cut a strip that was the length of the folder. The width would need enough to grab the edges of the folder plus whatever you needed to include the punches. I hope this makes sense: You would cut the tape or the contact paper to the length of the paper. If you had 1 inch wide tape of piece of contact paper, you would place the right edge of the tape, 1/4 inch into the folder front. Then you would fold the tape or contact paper lengthwise so that there is a 1/4 inch extension beyond the edge of the folder. The remaining tape or contact paper would be fixed to the back of the sequin folder on the right. You would now have a 1/4 inch extension that would be much easier to punch and secure enough to keep the folder in a binder. I don't use a punch so I'm not sure if 1/4 inch would be enough, but you could always adjust the width of the tape or contact paper so that you do have enough room to create the punches without having to punch through the sequin folder, itself. BTW, I appreciate these suggestions. I've started making a list for my next run to Dollar Tree!
Speaking of envelopes...I use the insides for backgrounds! :D I just use the billing envelopes ha ha Some have really nice "security" designs and some don't. That's right..I'm a trash hoarder. ha ha I think they are a great match for 'guy' cards. **I was looking at the innards of the business envelope you showed. ;)
If you type in "beginner alcohol ink" in UA-cam you will find so many good ones. I'm still an experimenter so I'm not sure if I could offer you much. But I will say, pick up some poster board to practice on because Yupo is quite expensive just to practice on. Also Poster board can be easily heat embossed. Here's the short video I did on it. ua-cam.com/video/-GtpKvwuxqU/v-deo.html
this was such a fun video. I hope you didn't toss out the sequin folder. I'm sure you could cut it down and turn it into a card front or something equally creative! Love your work.
Need a snap-off-blade razor? Go to tool section of Dollar Tree and get the one with the yellow and black stripe handle. It works great and comes with at least 5 extra blades!!!
Some great ideas Mary! Hands down love the glitter nail polish👍. Also really liked your segueing storage, the little round jars, it is hard find clear. Can I ask where you got them?
I saw someone get cutting dies from dollar tree a few weeks ago! Flowers/leaves/borders etc. I ran to my local DT but they didn’t have them unfortunately but may be someone else has better luck. DT has those crafters corner (their brand) cutting does online but you ha e to buy in bulk....
I love your ideas, thank you so much! May I offer a suggestion, however? Please consider adjusting your camera height so that everything you're doing/showing at the top of the video can be seen. It's just about 25% off, I think. your tips are so helpful, I really hate missing what's going on out of camera range!
Hi Linda, thanks so much for the feedback. I have since fixed that problem (I think) but check out a newer video and please offer any suggestions you have. I'm always looking to improve. :)
My goal last year (2020) was to ensure that I got every family member and friend his/her birthday and anniversary card on time! So I developed a system to do that: set up the "Button Folders" as mentioned; put a list of birthdays and anniversary dates and recipients' names on a large index card; put the card inside the folder; and checked off their name when a card was made and then again when it was sent. Starting in December 2019, I created cards for every person on my "January and February Lists", so that I would stay ahead of the game. The week prior to the beginning of the month, I pulled out all of the month's cards and wrote my message in them, sealed them, stamped them, and addressed them. I put the date that was 7 days prior to their birthday on the back of the envelope (this year I do 10 days due to mail delays!!!), and then each day I check my sealed envelopes to see which one(s) I need to take to the mailbox. To say that the handmade cards and handwritten messages made a difference in people's lives would be an understatement! And, working proactively, it was an easy process to do!
Hi I’m new to your channel have you any ideas what I can do for my craft stash as we aren’t allowed to put anything on the walls and we have no storage cupboards either I’m desperate please help lol x
3y ears later comment: (I may have commented here already 😮.) Tears 😢for that ruined folder. No really…I hope you didn’t trash it as you could cut out the design on the front and reuse it, as well as maybe use the plastic for die cutting or will a Cricut machine cut that plastic? At any rate, I’ve done battle with 3 hole punches too. I think for some plastic, it’s heavier than it appears and you need one of the heavy-duty punches that has a raised push-handle on it for extra leverage. The typical hole punches just can’t handle heavier materials….some won’t even take many sheets of copy paper, especially if they’re dull. 😮
Perhaps you could add some packing tape to the glitter folders and then use the punch on 1/2 inch overhang. Also to seal the edges of the button envelopes instead to staples. Great ideas. TFS
I just found you and I am thoroughly impressed with your ideas and demos!!! There are so many Dollar Tree sites- but the way you present the tips, your tone of voice ( excited but not over the top or saccharine), and you show simple, practical uses for Dollar Tree products that everyone can use!
I really like these Dollar Tree videos. I’ve used a silicone mat for the flue gun, but the silicone mitt one was really good, I think it would even protect your fingers fro, getting inky when cleaning. Bonus!
1) Seal the cut edges of the button file with some clear packing tape. 2) Save the sequins from that sacrificial folder - use them as embellishments on cards. Ahhhhh, love me a thrifty video ☺️ Thanks for the tips!
And use your paper trimmer to cut away haggled edges from what’s left of the folder, that dotted sheet could be used for die cuts(probably not thin ones) or other embellishments, or labels for the clear three section boxes, it was really cute and could still be useful!
Is the opening of your paper punch adjustable to accommodate different thicknesses? If not, would it work to cut the folder in half on the fold and punch each side separately?
The envelopes could be colored with ink. They'd be so pretty. That magnet sheet looks like it's from the Artbin Die Storage System. They have an indent for the Artbin case handles.
OMG you are so awesome! I use the 3 compartment boxes for everything in my craft room, stickles, glue bottles, pop dots, etc. I love the pocket idea and silicone mat also. I have a couple of lipstick holders for glue, stylus etc handy on my craft counter. I also glued a large metal washer to a film canister to hold my glue bottle upside down, doesn't topple over. Thanks for the hacks!
I use magnet sheet in a large picture frame (minus the glass obviously) next to my die cut station for most used dies and during a project to keep the dies from the trash.
Lol lol Mary, you crack me up; your so stinkin funny with your comments. Oh I actually hit 4 yes 4 dollar tree stores yesterday. I’m looking for the dies but I guess here in FL we don’t have them. I did pick up that glitter glue and was pretty happy with them. I will probably pick up more colors. Only got the clear n silver. I been hitting the dollar tree very very often for my other papercrafting too. Loved all your suggestions. Happy Crafting my friend.
I think you’re supposed to call it “hook & loop closure” and not the V word. That company is known for going after UA-camrs. I actually just watched a video from Clutterbug where she talks ab how they contacted her for falsely using their trademarked name. 😬
You can say I will be using Velcro style closures adding the word style acknowledges the company but does not infringe on copy right as far as I know. I would respond to them they are getting free advertising by my mentioning them
OH Mary!! What can I say , You have had me in stitches , You are so funny!!! Thank you so much , I really needed that tonight! By the way you have found some really great buys from the dollar tree, You remind me of a much younger version of myself, I don't know anyone else who can be so pleased & excited over a plastic container to put your anti static bag in or another very handy water bottle!! but ME!! what a shame we don't have a dollar tree in the UK, I'm sure I'd love it! X Thanks again & I'll look forward to your next video.
Thank you so much for such a sweet and encouraging comment. I'm so glad you are liking my videos! I'm so easily pleased over all this organization stuff!
Thank you for all of these fantastic inexpensive product ideas for my craft space! I really like the plastic storage too! I’ve been using the button folders to hold my odd size paper scraps and paper packs! I think the coupon holder is a fabulous idea for slim line card storage! Never thought of that.one. Love your video’s, Mary! I would love to have your crafty set up!

SO true, I'm sure I did shake them under there. I didn't even think of that. I'm going to try again!
Mini flat iron to seal the bag perhaps on a low setting or do a test run on a separate folder until you get the desired results?

I love your ideas, thank you so much! May I offer a suggestion, however? Please consider adjusting your camera height so that everything you're doing/showing at the top of the video can be seen. It's just about 25% off, I think. your tips are so helpful, I really hate missing what's going on out of camera range!
Hi Linda, thanks so much for the feedback. I have since fixed that problem (I think) but check out a newer video and please offer any suggestions you have. I'm always looking to improve. :)
My goal last year (2020) was to ensure that I got every family member and friend his/her birthday and anniversary card
on time!
This.Is.Brilliant! Thank you so much for the share. I love this idea and will def help me get some of these cards out.
Where do you get one of those blowers?
I got mine from Amazon and Scrapbook.com

Hi I’m new to your channel have you any ideas what I can do for my craft stash as we aren’t allowed to put anything on the walls and we have no storage cupboards either I’m desperate please help lol x
Without anything on the wall, I would recommend cupboards. I have 2 IKEA storage units that cost about $80 each and hold most of my things.
@@marypolancodesigns ok thank you x
with that torn folder I would have taken the sequins out of it so it would not be a total loss.
Such a great idea! Yeah that was rough
You’re not being lazy or cheap. Lets face it, craft supplies outside of dollar stores is very expensive.
Yess...all yes! Thanks, Shirley
That coupon holder might be good for storage of slimline dies!
I wondered about this.
I use one for my peel-offs (yes, I am still using them up lol)
YES it would be great for that! Thank you so much
Perhaps you could add some packing tape to the glitter folders and then use the punch on 1/2 inch overhang. Also to seal the edges of the button envelopes instead to staples. Great ideas. TFS
Great idea! I will definitely give that a try. Thank you so much!
I use clear packing tape all the time to seal edges like that. Works wonders.
I just found you and I am thoroughly impressed with your ideas and demos!!! There are so many Dollar Tree sites- but the way you present the tips, your tone of voice ( excited but not over the top or saccharine), and you show simple, practical uses for Dollar Tree products that everyone can use!
Thank you so much! This is such helpful feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time to share this with me. :)
Love that magnetic cork clip board! Thanks for ALL the creative inspiration.
You are so welcome! Thank you so much!
I really like these Dollar Tree videos. I’ve used a silicone mat for the flue gun, but the silicone mitt one was really good, I think it would even protect your fingers fro, getting inky when cleaning. Bonus!
YES great share thank you so much!
Thanks for the tips! So awesome! YAY
Amazing shares...thank you so much!!!
I love this video! Just good straightforward info - wish everyone did videos like this.
That's really encouraging, thank you for that feedback.
Is the opening of your paper punch adjustable to accommodate different thicknesses? If not, would it work to cut the folder in half on the fold and punch each side separately?
Oooh I will have to check this. Thank you so much!
I saw somewhere that someone used poster board for alcohol ink paper
Yes! That might have been me. lol I have a whole video on it but also mentioned it in this one too right after I got done demoing the photo paper.
The envelopes could be colored with ink. They'd be so pretty. That magnet sheet looks like it's from the Artbin Die Storage System. They have an indent for the Artbin case handles.
Oooh great idea! I'll have to try that. I believe that magnet sheet was. My case broke but I kept the magnets. lol
For your glitter shaker folders you can use a Cropadile or something similar. Great video. TFS
Great idea!! Thank you so much!
Did you try the backside of the photo paper for the alcohol inks? Just wondering how they would/wouldn’t work.
I did not and knew that I should have.I don't know what i was thinking. I'll give it a go
Were you able to save the shaker bits for another projec?
Booo for me...didn't even think of that! Ugggg
you can use clear packing tape to close up that envelope too.
Great tip! Of course it is..you always have great tips!
@@marypolancodesigns i made a video in reply to yours, showing Dollar Tree in action
Great idea!! Thank you so much for the shares... Awesome!
Where is your blower thing from?
Tonic or Ranger. It's a Tim Holtz branded product.
Yes, Tonic, it's linked below. But I've seen a similar product on Amazon for half price. I'll show it in an upcoming video.
I use magnet sheet in a large picture frame (minus the glass obviously) next to my die cut station for most used dies and during a project to keep the dies from the trash.
Amazing idea! Keep from the trash..hahha been there
Lol lol Mary, you crack me up; your so stinkin funny with your comments.
We don't have the dies where I am either. Hoping they will eventually get them.
Thanks so much Gayle! i am so happy my goofiness isn't too much. haha I have to try and find dies; heard about those and was like, WHAT??
Same but maybe soon!
I checked 2 DTs this week - still no dies
Awesome video! You crack me up! I’m loving your channel and your crafty ideas! Love those glitter folders!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate this so much!
I think you’re supposed to call it “hook & loop closure” and not the V word. That company is known for going after UA-camrs. I actually just watched a video from Clutterbug where she talks ab how they contacted her for falsely using their trademarked name. 😬
I had NO Idea, thank you so much! I really appreciate you looking out!
Me Too Mary! X@@marypolancodesigns
Those little cups are perfect for paint pouring
Absoluuuutely! Great share!
I reuse the plastic cups from the individual servings of apple sauce or fruit cups that go in the Grandkids lunch boxes.
So many clever hacks!
YAY! Thank you so much for letting me know it was helpful!
Where do you but the magnet sheet and the double sided tape
Thank you for all of these fantastic inexpensive product ideas for my craft space! I really like the plastic storage too! I’ve been using the button folders to hold my odd size paper scraps and paper packs! I think the coupon holder is a fabulous idea for slim line card storage! Never thought of that.one. Love your video’s, Mary! I would love to have your crafty set up!
Thank you so much Katz, I really appreciate that. I had so much fun picking this stuff out! YAY! Love that store
