    A little 550 cord and tape goes a long way too ;) those reinforced baseplates are nice for posted up shooting and such though.

      True that but sometimes it's hard to grab that tiny paracord. Especially when the paracord somehow is super flat on the mag, is wet or if using gloves...
      It's 2024, we can finally have nice things 😎

    New DSA para FAL owner here. So far I only have the DSA polymer magazines, but as soon I find any steel mags I'm going to try out these new floor plates. They remind me of the ones on my SCAR 17 magazines.

      Let me know how you like the Para FAL and the polymer mags. DSA will be releasing their steel mags soon, otherwise Gunbroker is another venue to find used steel mags

      @@thefalguy9848 Thanks for the tip on GunBroker. I'll check there. Already signed up for an email alert when DSA gets the steel mags in.
      Only 100 rounds through the new DSA 16" para FAL so far, but I'm loving it! I'm impressed by the fit and finish of the rifle. More break in to do and some more tuning of the gas, but so far it's great.
      Polymer mags are ok. No problems with them yet, but they're more difficult to get seated properly in the rifle than the steel mags I've worked with in the past. At this point I'm just happy to have magazines. :)

    Nice! May pick up a few.
    Now we just need DSA (or somebody, ANYBODY!) to make new production metal mags based on the metric (and maybe inch) pattern.
    Seriously, given the market for this, I don't understand why nobody has done this, yet.

    • @thefalguy9848
      @thefalguy9848  5 місяців тому

      Making mags is an extremely hard and difficult process. DSA is releasing some soon. Metric obviously. The market for inch pattern mags are too small.

      @@thefalguy9848 Good. Hopefully DSA doesn't pull dumb shit like other manufacturers on the retro gun market and make and sell small batches of like 15 that sell out in two seconds and then make everyone wait like jackals for another batch.
      Just make a fucking fuck load of them and then introduce them to the market.

    Ive heard Garand Thumb and Brandonherrerra suggest that the SA 58's effective range is 300m. Is that true? Google says that its about 600m but idk...

    • @thefalguy9848
      @thefalguy9848  5 місяців тому

      What is an effective range? Sub MOA? 1-2 MOA? Remember, the FAL is a battle rifle and not a precision AR10/ bolt action.
      I was able to comfortably hit targets at 600m with an LPVO on my 18" Recce FAL, no issues.

  • @joeclaridy
    @joeclaridy 5 місяців тому +1

    Is that a metal or polymer mag? Also, what are the effective uses for a base plate extension?

    • @thefalguy9848

      metal mag. Makes it easier to draw from kit.

    @ THE FAL GUY. Is the FN Scar 17 Heavy the new improvement on the classic FN FAL?

    • @thefalguy9848
      @thefalguy9848  5 місяців тому +1

      Not at all. I'd say the FN SCAR is the wrong improvement. Gas system is different, proprietary mags, and overall a bad design.

    OMG. dont drop your mags. That is so 2005, when mags were $10 for the FAL.. DUMP POUCH! You are on your own, there will be no re supply. Get a dump pouch to drop your mags in, so you can reload them. YOU know I'm right. Would you sell any FAL mags you currently own? NOPE, they are gold.
    If I was hungry, I might trade 1 for a case of MREs. The good kind, not the humanitarian vegan ones.

    • @thefalguy9848
      @thefalguy9848  5 місяців тому +5

      Hahahaha, not to mention the mag I dropped was a genuine Rhodesian mag. Anyhow, DSA is releasing soon their own steel mags. And every once a while I find some cheap steel ones in South Africa.
      I do have a dump pouch on my belt, just forgot to use it when doing the video - guess nobody is perfect.
