    I just got my XHDATA D-219 delivered yesterday Saturday August 10th from Amazon and I love it. I am a radio collector and I have many. I think this D-219 is a must have for any collector or even a person looking for a great radio at an unbelievable price. I only paid $9.34 total with tax included. Thank you for posting this excellent video review.

    The lower FM band on the D-219 has the Assisted Listening Device (ALD) frequencies (17 channels) between 72.1 and 75.8 Mhz. Do a search on where ALD systems are used, and try it out.

    i like the compact D-220. a peace of wire for the FM/Shortwave takes care of reception and the tight tuning I believe was done on purpose as to keep it on frequency while in your pocket. As for medium AM wave, a loop antenna or wrap copper around a pipe and have the radio close by it or sit by a ground pole outside pulls AM stations at night like a pro

    Hello, JIMS RADIO CHECK, as I enjoyed your FM reception comparisons on the XHDATA D-219 & D-220 models! I have the XHDATA D-219, but I have considered possibly purchasing the XHDATA D-220 however! I think the overall sound quality might be just a little better on the D-219 vs. the D-220 XHDATA model! I do like the fact that the XHDATA D-220 comes in 3 different colors: black, green, & yellow. Thanks, Jim, for for your video in regards to the FM sensitivity comparisons between the D-219 & D-220 XHDATA models! Thank you, Jim...

    When I first saw pictures of the D-220, I figured out that XHDATA was introducing a general purpose AM/FM pocket radio, with a shortwave band thrown in as a freebie.
    I've had a few old kitchen radios from the late 90s and CD boomboxes with a single band for shortwave. They weren't designed as SW DX'ing machines and the shortwave band was included as a selling point. Most people feel they're getting a better deal if the tuner had FM/AM/SW rather than just FM/AM.
    To be fair, I would rather be gifted a D-220 than some other cheap radio that has only AM/FM bands. ☺️

      And if you're in the U.S., the new 221 now has NOAA.

    • @StratmanII
      @StratmanII 8 годин тому +2

      @@k5wxp22 That's right. The D-221 also dropped the FM OIRT band (64-76 MHz) as it would be useless in North America. Only Mongolia, Russia and some former Soviet Union countries still use the outdated OIRT band.
      XHDATA also dropped the black color for the D-221, so it's either green or yellow color options.

      @StratmanII I got the yellow one to use as a kind of emergency radio. It works pretty well and definitely works on NOAA. I find it hard to see the indicator, but usually tune by ear anyway...especially at night. Should be perfect!

    Thanks for the comparison. The D-220 is a lot of fun, and I'm not finding the lack of a swivel to be that big a deal. Amazing what it picks up on a 10 inch whip. (I was listening to NHK from Issoudun tonight, on the whip, indoors.) And the D-219, well, as we all know it is a fantastic performer and a "must own" radio for any enthusiast.

    I got a D-219 from Amazon the other day for less than $10. It’s going to be my work radio, replacing an older Radio Shack pocket AM/FM radio. The little Radio Shack unit is really not too bad, but the XHData radio is much more sensitive, and it’s an amazing deal.

    In Europe we have 87.5 -108 MHz on FM. Russia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine use 65.8 MHz-74.0 MHz. The FM band in Japan is 76-90 MHz.
    I prefer the D219, the SW-band is divided in 9 bands, so I guess it will be much easier to tune. Can you make a video comparing them on SW? Thanks.

    I was looking for a cheap SW radio to throw in my bag, as I am going to Asia, I decided(after much hemming and hawing) on the 219 over the 220, it seems better and is only fractionally bigger.

    Do either of these two radios have a rechargeable battery as opposed to AA or AAA? If not, recommendations for a small, inexpensive radio to be used primarily for FM/AM and only some SW. it will be a first radio gift for a 9 year old boy. Thx.
