I had no idea that SSDs could fail. I have a Optiplex 7040 (broken latch not withstanding), from 2016, and he's still going just fine. He started making some weird noises and acting a little odd, so I started looking at the hard drive, (thinking that it might have been a spinning rust) since I didn't know what the device came with when I bought it from Ebay. Turned out that the noise I might have heard was the fan; that's another issue, but my little guy's been running for an age, now, and he's still got the drive he had when I got him. I find that HD Sentinel is a nice SSD/HDD monitoring tool to catch potential drive failure issues prior to completely potentially losing your data. Speaking of NVME M2, my device is supposed to have a port for that, but I can't find it. That's another story, but I very nearly ended up with a OptiPlex 5050.

Yeah, I have seen a lot of those strange names SSD:s die early. Recently I replaced a KingFast brand for a user.
I've never used the Silicon Power brand, have you had good luck with them? They are less cost than say Samsung, SanDisk, WD, etc. and they sell them on Amazon.

I've had zero issues with their M.2 drives. For the most part, I've had no issues with their 2.5" drives. I have a SP 128GB 2.5" drive in one of my TV computers that likes to hang once in a while, requiring power cycling the system to get it back. But that's the only one I've ever had an issue with/

Currently there are other systems that are more stable, better in practical usage than win 10 or 11 and do all everyday tasks perfectly fine.

im having similar issues with a 1tb hdd out of a customers laptop, they said it had heaps od data but keeps coming up as "Not Intialized" and also shows the space as unallocated, one day the laptop stopped booting to windows.

Could be a similar type of issue. Seagate 7200.11 drives back in the day were known for a bug in the firmware that would cause the drive to work fine one day, and then brick the next. I was able to get one back up and working to recover the data from.

The comment about the case...that sounds like what I did with mine...forgetting how the latch moves, and dang me, but I broke it. LOL Will probably have to see what one of my sighted friends can do to fix it.

Yeah I tried to download Windows 11 on to a 6th generation Intel i5 in an HP ProBook I couldn't do it the guy at the computer shop had a hell of a time getting it on there worked fine now I know somebody modified Windows 11 the tiny 11 you can put that on older computers and it works pretty well but still Windows 12 around the corner so what would be the point of install Windows 11 when they might not support it for long maybe a year or two the funny part is what I paid the guy at the computer shop to put Windows 11 on that old HP ProBook I bought a new HP 15 for the same price that supports Windows 11 hopefully Windows 12 bit supports probably

You can use Rufus to mod the installer to bypass the EliteClass system requirements, and turn off the dumb telemetry questions and internet requirement. Or, if you are in in pinch and only have Win11 already on USB, there's another trick you can do to bypass the requirements. I have several videos on ways to force install 11 on the channel.

This one had the same diagnostic error. The owner ran diagnostics on it before he brought it to me. He's an ex-tech, and prefered to have someone else swap the drive.

Microsoft can now get away with anti-competitive, monopolistic behavior...In what fucked up universe is that considered OK? M$ has been fined heavily for this before. Where the hell is the justice department this time

Oh, I got a video coming up soon about Microsoft. Not only over the EliteClass system requirements for Windows 11, but also force installing BIOS updates on motherboards - it happened to this machine while I had it here!
