Very dissapointed in the show overall admission price was very expensive at 12 a head not much in way of trade layouts were good but not a lot of the up to date scene will certainly give this exhibition a wide berth in future

    LACK OF SIGNALLING COMPREHENSION !!!!
Why is it so many exhibition layouts today, reveal a virtual total ignorance about signalling. Indeed they don't even seem to understand the differences between Absolute Bock (most semaphore signalling) and Track Circuit block (most 3 & 4 aspect signalled lines) ??? If you're going to exhibit a layout, without the necessary research such as Rule Books & quality Reference Books, expect to get shot down in flames !!!

Thank you for your constructive feedback. With a lot of modelling they don’t research the subject in detail. At the end of the day each to their own it’s just a hobby and a representation of people’s imagination. Let’s not get so serious about realism as every layout I have built and seen the people don’t move, talk or interact with the real world.

@@MarchWestJunctionTMD A good job I'm not the exhibition manager, because I would refuse to accept layouts with such glaring mistakes. And yes I'm not just a real railway engineer, but also a professional modeller. A number of my layouts have appeared in Modelling magazines all over the World, including Peco's "Continental Modeller".
Having been the Editor for both the German & Japanese Railway Societies. A lot of research was necessary for my German & Japanese exhibition layouts. Which included obviously fully functioning signalling, in N scale as long ago as 1985. Indeed I've just sold a large British OO exhibition layout 60ft x 25ft with correctly functioning 3 aspect signalling. Which required track circuits & full interlocking to make those signals work exactly as per the prototype. What your comment implies is that "Kiddy Toy Train Sets" are now suitable for exhibition !!!
