my poppin style at the time was, +/- like André Rucker's Android robot moves, but half of my moves were a succession of unbalanced moves, like a drunked dizzy robot, with leg dysfunctions, thus created and added a huge pallets of funny and amazing lay down ground movements,
imagine a robot having drunk a little too much, able to make exaggerated abdominal waves in nearly any unbalanced body positions, looking like sick, falling and standing up several times fighting to keep balance, it was soo funny !
my signature move is well known today, it was losing all functions, a "shutdown", I smashed flat on the ground and completely disarticulated, I standed up in matrix style "slow motion" with strobot overloaded waves by keeping my back all the way down in flat position, like Neo in matrix movie when he dodges the bullets.
I would like to see a person dance with a +/- identical unbalanced base movements, i didn't find one until today, André Rucker would currently be the one to be able to do so, because his base movements is robot, if he would focus a little more on his legs and with unbalanced body positions,
my disfunctional moves was in order at making the sphere circulate only in the left or right active part of the body, unbalancing it made more than one laugh, I did not master bone breaking, so I had to adapt my flexibility to the art of balance, at that time many considered those moves never seen,
i'm too old and rusted, but guys if i was able to continue today, i woul'd try mixing my poppin dancing with some unbalanced Jackie Chan's drunk master funny kungfu moves.
but for me, poppin was long ago, i started dancing at very young age between 8-9 years , poppin dancing about +/- 5 maybe 6 years long, only later i followed a group of friends about 2 years more, but the group seperated, soo i stoped and focused way more in my favorite sport basketball.
for each poppin dancer we started with the base moves, most poppin moves are identical for any one, some are very easy, some are very difficult, moonwalks, waves, strobot, bone-b. etc, only then we develop our own style and creativity to make unique "signature" moves.
my base at the beginning was like so many others did of my generation, the poppin moves of Michael Jackson Billie Jean,
i'm not a MJ fan at all i hate this guy, but i'm a poppin dancing fan, i just like his dancing moves, even if the poppin exists since the beginning of the 70's, it is almost thanks to MJ that the poppin has invaded more and more the Pop and Hip Hop culture from the 80s to the end 90s, the most beautiful era !!!
poppin was harder at that time because, we didn't have internet i-phone, being able to watch poppin videos, allowing us easy inspiration from others dancers performing their moves, we were forced to be creativ to reach best levels possible.
