My Grandma owns 18 acres on the coast. In 2020 the watershed council proposed a similar project on her land. It has turned a 1/3 of her land into a unusable flood plain. We have all been devastated by the impact it’s had as it has destroyed her property. They might as well throw money in the ocean.
consider that you adopt risk when you purchase land near bodies of water including having a third of it dedicated to necessary habitat or even everything you own getting swept away, thank floodplain habitat for keeping that from happening.
It's great they are improving habitat, but the real problem is the over harvest of our Oregon origin salmon in Alaska waters. The news needs to cover this, overharvest in Alaska is what is hurting our Oregon salmon. Everyone wants to point fingers at "ocean conditions", its Alaska, ALASKA over harvest.
For everyone, its a complicated system but you can provide input: www.fisheries.noaa.gov/west-coast/sustainable-fisheries/west-coast-salmon-and-steelhead-fisheries-management
