  • July 3 on The Story: Several Asian-owned businesses feel they were targeted by a pair of Portland lawyers who have filed dozens of Americans with Disabilities Act or ADA lawsuits over the past nine months. Of the 47 ADA lawsuits filed by attorneys Jessica Molligan and David Foster, almost half involved Asian owned businesses, according to public records and interviews. A previous KGW investigation showed how the lawyers have filed dozens of ADA lawsuits against businesses. In many cases, the owners said they were willing to make the fixes. They just didn't like the lawyers' tactics - threatening litigation and demanding attorney’s fees, typically around $10,000 per case.

Jessica Mulligan and thisTennessee firm have filed dozens of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) lawsuits against businesses in the Portland area. Almost half of the businesses targeted are Asian-owned. The lawyers have a reputation for being predatory, and many of the businesses they've sued have been willing to make the requested fixes. We need more information about these lawyers and their tactics.
