I have over 120 Christmas decor boxes and 18 trees of all heights. If you find a tree theme you want to repeat next year, don't take the tree apart after the holidays. Wrap it in the 25" wide tube of plastic wrap found at Home Depot. Make sure to wrap under the lower tree branches to catch any ornaments that might fall. I've never broken anything using this method.. Next season, cut off the wrap and fluff the tree. Wa-la!
I am like you and have many different themed trees throughout my house. Every year it gets harder and harder for me to put up all my decor and I even have to ask my doctor for 2 rounds of prednisone to get through it. I have thought about doing this but I'm not sure where I would store the trees. Do you store them upright or lay them down like big piles of carpeting?
My biggest happiness with Christmas decorating came from decreasing the amount of kotchkies using only the most high quality and meaningful items. Now I can do everything in little more than half an hour. Every year I donated stuff now I'm down to what I really love
@Dana Rzechula Hi! I came to that realization this year. I have a couple things I don't really like anymore & a few things I haven't used in years. Time to let them go. 🎄
I agree. Christmas has always tied up my life for an entire month, and I don't need that. I'm not decorating a department store or a stage set. I'm decorating my home! Now, if it doesn't fit into 3-4 clear bins, it's outa here. I'm so much happier.
I'm super organized at putting away Christmas (it's a weird fluke--not super organized in most areas of life, but I've always been that way about Christmas decorations), so I almost didn't watch this. Hah! So glad I did. I got 4-6 tips that will take my organization to the next level. And since I don't take down my tree until 6 Jan (Epiphany), I can still use these ideas this year!
Lots of good ideas. I use egg cartons for Christmas balls also. So lights on the outside of the egg carton and ornaments inside. Organized and space saving!
I look at my Christmas decorations and keep all plain white items out for "winter" vignettes. I keep solid red coffee cups out for Valentines Day and 4th of July. You get the idea - repurpose.
My husband & I made a Tote notebook with numbers for each tote & description! So easy to check the book, go find the correct tote! Totes labeled with each number! We finally got smart!
That garment bag idea for wreaths is excellent! You can hang them on brackets too but if you're like me and have a lot of them it takes up a lot of space!
I’ve been using big totes, and it is so helpful!! I put my mantle in one tote with garland, lights, and stockings. I put my staircase garland in another tote. I have been saving my bows by attaching them to a hanger with pipe cleaners. I cover them with clear painters plastic to keep dust off and they do not get smashed. I label outside bows on one hanger, and staircase bows on another, etc. It really helps! I love the idea of using a garment bag for wrapping paper! Thank you so much!!
For folks who are not able to do a lot of decorating, here's a quickie way. Buy about six silk poinsetta plants, I put in sprigs of white berries. That's it. Your home looks colorful because of all the Christmas red. Very easy to pack away, and put out next year.
I keep my scissors, tape, and some gift tags in a bag (a make up bag, but a ziplock bag would do) inside the bottom of the garment bag with my gift wrap. LOVE the tree skirt on the table idea....beautiful!
Add a clear hanging bag for shoes to hold wrapping accessories: scissors, tape, gift tags, embellishments, ribbons & ribbon rolls, gift card envelopes, etc…
Thank you so much for sharing these great tips! Last year was my “purge-seldom-used-decorations” year, and what a difference it made this year when decorating. It was much less overwhelming!
I store my Christmas stuff in two boxes (down from six). The boxes double as end tables. Another thing I like to do is pack in reverse of the order I'm putting stuff up. Then I take them from the top and start decorating. Lights go on the windows, a few wall hangings--I think three. Then Nutcracker and Garland on the bar and table cloth and flameless candles on the table, Nativity, Christmas curios and then the tree and decorations go up. Ziploc bags are great. My wrapping paper is generic. I can use it for Christmas, birthday, showers etc. Butcher paper is a little too plain for me. I am getting gift tags that would go for any season. I save and recycle gift bags. I used to pay more for the wrapping than the gift.
Leslie, I do everything you do with the exception of the lights on the egg carton, the ornaments in the zip lock bag( I used to) and the wrapping paper, years ago my husband bought a plastic container that stands is real long specially for paper. Thank you for the amazing ideas and teaching. I pray to the Lord the new year brings you peace, healing and comfort for Jason. You are one of a kind. Happy New Year.
I agree the garment bag is a game changer. I may have to lay the wreaths down on top of something. but I have a lot of greenery. Also figuring out about do I want it all to be put in one bin? Well I haven't started to take it down yet. But it won't be long. I hope you had an enjoyable Christmas. Children always make it fun. We did not have a Christmas in Iowa. The wind chill kept us in. I really missed going to church. But The gift is still alive and he will return. I am ready. Thank you and Happy New Year. Joyce
Hi Leslie! Just wanted you and Jason to know that my hubby and I pray for you guys and hope Christmas was not stressful. We cannot imagine what you both are going through. But we are hurting for you both. We love you both in Christ! Soon God will make us new! But in the meantime we rest in our Blessed Hope - Our hope as is yours is in Jesus! Hugs and love and especially our prayers go out to you both! 🙏 ❤ 🤗
Browsing older videos, I now see the answer to a previous comment I asked....which was, where do you store all these seasonal items. I love the attic makeover video from 1 year ago!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Great tips! I have for the last ten years had a spreadsheet for each room. In that room I list all the decorations and how they were arranged and update the spreadsheet each year. Then when it's time to decorate I check my spreadsheet and know exactly how it's going to look. This spreadsheet also corresponds with each rooms storage bins (I label my bins Master Bedroom, Living Room, etc.)
Like that toilet paper roll idea. I too, take photos and when I bring out my Christmas dishes , I put other, daily dishes in the bin for the few weeks. Looking forward to see what your winter decorations will be.
I did the photo tip last year for Christmas and Fall/Halloween, and my goodness it made life easier this year! Labeling and organizing carefully makes life much easier, thanks for your tips!
These are GREAT tips! I too remove batteries. You ladies that have basements and attics are so blessed. I also use the photo tip it is so helpful and I pack items together that decorate together.
Love the idea of the toilet paper tube for those little lights. Those are a booger to get untangled!! Thank you for so many great ideas! Hope your 2023 is full of unexpected blessings for you and Jason. 😊
I wanted to update you on the clothing bag hack for wrapping paper. It works! I love it; it’s out of my way and everything fits, from the paper, tissue paper, tape, ribbon, everything. Thank you so much!
Leslie thank you for taking time out of your busy holiday schedule for showing your tips/tricks. It helps having an organized method when taking everything down. I love the garment bag idea. Definitely going to use that!
I always take a video of my Christmas and fall rooms so that I can replicate it next year, I also do the same with my everyday decor so that I can remember where everything was. That doesn’t mean I will put everything back where it was just to get an idea of where it was
Great tips Leslie. I enjoy your channel and wish all the best for you and Jason in 2023. Earlier today I took photos of my mantle and display shelves for reference next Christmas. In the beginning of December, I purged several items which I haven’t used for years. I took photos of them , sent to my daughter, daughter in law and grandchildren to see if they had any interest in the items. I gave the requested items to family and donated the remaining to the local thrift store before Christmas. Another tip, as my children were growing, each Christmas, my husband and I gave them a Christmas ornament and dated it. When our children left our home and started their own homes, I packed up all their ornaments and gave them their collections to decorate their own Christmas trees. Now, my grandchildren are receiving an ornament each Christmas from me and my husband to create their own collection.
This video doesn’t mention a time line of when to take down decor. This is for when each person decides to take theirs down ( in their own time frame). So please, by all means, take yours down whenever it pleases you. Thanks for watching! 😁
Garment bags are a great idea!!! I used totes, but not clear ones, and have always gotten the biggest ones I can find. Wrong idea....changing to clear, and getting different sizes. Thanks Leslie!!
Cut a tiny slit at the end of the toilet roll and tuck one end on one side roll lights then tuck the battery pack in the roll with the wire in the slit to keep in place.
Garment bags are great, I also use one for my artificial pumpkins, I have so many and they stay stacked nicely in the garment bags. I only use Clear bins as well, such a timesaver!
I have a colorful sign on paper inside on the front of the totes b/c I like the look of that and then on the side I have the name of what’s in there. Lots of great tips!!!!!!
You are so cute. I already use all your tips. I guess being 71 I’ve already had MANY Christmas times to discover ways to store. I do everything you do. Great minds think alike, right? 😊
The tip on the wreath storage was great. I have hug (both covered and uncovere them for storage but the garment bags will make it so much easier.. thanks!!!
Leslie, I was hoping this video would be about storing, and organizing, after Christmas and, as always, you came through:) Any suggestions, or recommendations, for storing an artificial Christmas trees? I have a seven foot tree that seems to never fit back in the box and is always in the way in a spare bedroom. I could get it to my basement if I had the right packaging to do that. Suggestions from all are appreciated. Leslie, you have mentioned the clear bins in other videos, and this time I'm following your instructions:) Bless you and Jason!
Hello Ann, my artificial tree separates into 3 sections. I place a pretty gold card , with top, middle, bottom printed , on each appropriate section. Next I place a tree section on a large sheet of bubble wrap ( reused from original purchase), carefully fold the branches toward the tree center, and roll it up in the bubble wrap. Next I tie a heavy cording around the wrapped section to secure it. Repeat for other sections and place in original box or a large plastic container purchased from a department store.
Great tips, thank you! I also take pics of my decorations before I take them down. Then I save them to my Christmas board on Pinterest so they’re not taking up space on my phone all year and they’re easy to find next year.
I used the garment bag to hold 2 wreaths. Worked awesome as I could fold it in half and hang it up that way. Then I used the toilet paper roll and rolled up my fairy lights. Thank you so much!!! You made my day😍
Thank you so much for your tips! I had carpal tunnel this year and could barely put up a tree and hang a few things on my front porch. Not having all the glitz and glam barely made a difference and I plan on downsizing the decor from here on out.
I loved everything about this. I’m definitely picking location for next year for my tree . I want to decorate it the same as I’ve had so many compliments this year. Every year it’s completely different. I only usually use 1/3 of my Christmas decs. And it usually mean’s emptying every box and repacking . Duct tape is genius, all my labels fell off and I only put them on the top.
great idea with the light storage, I did the same thing only I wrapped them around a folded paper grocery bag, beats the Clark Griswald rolled up in a ball technique, lol! thx
Great video! I have been doing the document, label, and clear totes for years now. I tell people its my "lazy" decorating, meaning I don't have to style all over again each year. I use cheap curtain rods hung in my craft room to store the wrapping paper. Instant decor plus utlizing wall space.
Such great ideas, I love the garment bag! I got rid of a bunch of things last year and I plan to do it again this year. If it doesn't bring me joy, it's going away and hopefully it will bring joy to someone else.
I used your method last year with the bins and the toilet paper rolls! Made decorating this year sooo much easier and faster! I think you are just the sweetest! I love your channel and your positivity! God has blessed you with His strength…. May He continue to do so for you and your family❤
Excellent tips , thank you, I have used the garment bag to keep wrapping paper in for a few years now, mine had a smallish zipped pocket on the chest area which is where I keep my tags and cord, sellotape and scissors, and it saves the wrapping paper from getting crushed or torn x
Thanks for great tips on packing away decorations, I consider myself a organization deva, but using toilet paper rolls and egg cartons is a real winner. I use totes and ziplock bags are my go to all year round. We live in a small home but have double garage and one car so that’s where my goes. I found you late October and loved watching you decorate and used several of your ideas.Thank you so much and hope your hubs is meeting his challenges.Praying for you both in that struggle.Looking forward to how you decorate after the holidays and winter.Blessings
Fabulous ideas for organizing Christmas. I don't bother with photos because I tend to decorate the same way every year - boring I suppose but easy and I like the way it looks. The clear bin idea is great so when my current bins need replacing, I will definitely buy clear. I wish my storage location had a place to hang a garment bag because that is a super idea for wreath storage.
You're the best. I love your decorating videos but organization of holiday item removal videos are important too. Thank you for sharing! Happy New Year! ♥️
-2°F while you are recording …. And I’m in FL during which I took off Christmas lights from my outdoor trees in 83°F. Many of you couldn’t do the heat, but I would die in the cold. Happy New Year!
This is the first video of yours I have watched. You are the sweetest 💗 person and I love your decorating style and storage tips. I look forward to watching all of your other videos. And of course I have subscribed to your channel.
I feel so much better about the prospect of packing away my Christmas decorations this year after this video. Thank you for great ideas… such a cheerful pep talk! This year I put up more Christmas things than I usually do and it really blessed my family - they loved having a little bit of Christmas in each room. Will try to use your tips to stay organized so it’s easy next year. You are a blessing… many blessings to you!
Thank you for these tips. I too took photos of my vignettes from different areas of my home last year. What a hassle free way to decorate; that is if you liked it last year. lol. Love the toilet paper idea and wrapping the 'fairy lights'! I use the under the bed cloth clear storage bags since I don't have an attack. Thanks for helping us with your great ideas. Happy New Year.
I label my storage containers on all 4 sides and the top. My husband puts the containers in the attic for me, and he’s not always careful about putting them back with the bin label face out 🤣
I do love the see-through tubs but I also have color-coded tubs too for bigger, heavier things…Christmas (red), snowmen ⛄️ (blue and see-through), Halloween 🎃 (orange) fall 🍁 8:51 and Thanksgiving 🦃 in other…Valentines Day (clear), Easter/spring (clear), summer/flower (purple) I have too much stuff!
This was great for two reasons! One, we do many of the same organization techniques and two, you taught me some great stuff! The twinkle lights, garment bag and egg carton trick were terrific. Thanks for the tips. May your new year be blessed with peace.
I have over 120 Christmas decor boxes and 18 trees of all heights. If you find a tree theme you want to repeat next year, don't take the tree apart after the holidays. It’s easiest for me to do location. I have a huge vintage Christmas collection and it helps to be able to set out/pack up one area at a time.
I agree. Christmas has always tied up my life for an entire month, and I don't need that. I'm not decorating a department store or a stage set. I'm decorating my home! Now, if it doesn't fit into 3-4 clear bins, it's outa here. I'm so much happier.

Closest bags - genius. I’ve been struggling with paper rolls for years!
That garment bag idea for wreaths is excellent! You can hang them on brackets too but if you're like me and have a lot of them it takes up a lot of space!
I’m definitely going to use the garment bag for wrapping paper. What a great idea!
Yep cuz I just bought a container especially for them……but the tall ones don’t fit! 😤 Getting a garment bag tomorrow!!
Me too. That one is gold.
Love that idea
Best idea I will use is the garment bag.
Another little tip. Fold over a corner of the painter's tape. That way there is a pull tab.
I’ve been using big totes, and it is so helpful!! I put my mantle in one tote with garland, lights, and stockings. I put my staircase garland in another tote. I have been doing this for ten years, however, the one thing I didn’t know was the garment bag tip for storing wrapping paper. Great idea, thank you!
Add a clear hanging bag for shoes to hold wrapping accessories: scissors, tape, gift tags, embellishments, ribbons & ribbon rolls, gift card envelopes, etc…

very informative. Thank you I do most of this, but the garment bags are great. I will do this this year for sure.
I have done pictures for several years. Makes it much easier to decorate lol

Storage bags for paper and wreaths- best idea ever!
Thank you so much 😊
I love the porch tree. I’d leave that up year round undecorated
I know people who decorate their tree every month, according to the holiday or season. It makes them happy, which I think is lovely.
Great tips! I have for the last ten years had a spreadsheet for each room. In that room I list all the decorations and how they were arranged and update the spreadsheet each year. Love the idea of the toilet paper tube for those little lights. Those are a booger to get untangled!! Thank you for so many great ideas! Hope your 2023 is full of unexpected blessings for you and Jason. 😊

Love the egg carton idea

LOVE the garment bag idea for wrapping paper & wreaths!!! Thank you!
Best Christmas decor storage video ever. Just what I was looking for. So many original ideas. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for those tips. It hasn’t occurred to me to organize by location - I just store like things together. I think I might try that this year.
Garment bags are great, I also use one for my artificial pumpkins, I have so many and they stay stacked nicely in the garment bags. I only use Clear bins as well, such a timesaver!
Super good tips , thanks for doing the thinking for all of us who get too overwhelmed to think and solve these things for ourselves . Blessings .

Excellent tips , thank you, I have used the garment bag to keep wrapping paper in for a few years now, mine had a smallish zipped pocket on the chest area which is where I keep my tags and cord, sellotape and scissors, and it saves the wrapping paper from getting crushed or torn x
Hello Friend
How are you doing today?
Thanks for great tips on packing away decorations, I consider myself a organization deva, but using toilet paper rolls and egg cartons is a real winner. I use totes and ziplock bags are my go to all year round. We live in a small home but have double garage and one car so that’s where my goes. I found you late October and loved watching you decorate and used several of your ideas.Thank you so much and hope your hubs is meeting his challenges.Praying for you both in that struggle.Looking forward to how you decorate after the holidays and winter.Blessings
Thank you so much 😊
These are really great tips!
Awesome ideas. My decor is down but not put away. Thanks for your help!!!
-2°F while you are recording …. And I’m in FL during which I took off Christmas lights from my outdoor trees in 83°F. Many of you couldn’t do the heat, but I would die in the cold. Happy New Year!
Love all your tips. My husband will especially like the way you store your lights. Happy New Year!!
This is all nice if you have the space and storage
Even if you have a small amount of decor to put away, it can still be put away nicely with these tips!
I will get some garment bags for my wreaths. Perfect!
Soo helpful. Love the garment bag idea. I never would have come up with that one!
This is the first video of yours I have watched. You are the sweetest 💗 person and I love your decorating style and storage tips. I look forward to watching all of your other videos. And of course I have subscribed to your channel.
Thank you so much 😊 ❤️
praying your Christmas was blessed!
Great ideas!! Wish I had watched this years ago ❤
Wonderful Ideas for storage. WOW!!! what a super organized attic...amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Garment bag is such a great idea. Thank you.
First time watching your channel. Your home is beautiful and your ideas are simple and easy to do. Thank you!
Great tips, I will be “stealing” them.
I label my storage containers on all 4 sides and the top. My husband puts the containers in the attic for me, and he’s not always careful about putting them back with the bin label face out 🤣
Garment bag idea is awesome!!
I have done most of this for years. Yes on the photos!! I have folders on my computer organized by year and then by room. Saves me so much time!!! :)
Love all of the tips ❤️ I learned the hard way not having see thru containers. Such a time saver and back saver lol
I do love the see-through tubs but I also have color-coded tubs too for bigger, heavier things…Christmas (red), snowmen ⛄️ (blue and see-through), Halloween 🎃 (orange) fall 🍁 8:51 and Thanksgiving 🦃 in other…Valentines Day (clear), Easter/spring (clear), summer/flower (purple)
I have too much stuff!
This was great for two reasons! One, we do many of the same organization techniques and two, you taught me some great stuff! The twinkle lights, garment bag and egg carton trick were terrific. Thanks for the tips. May your new year be blessed with peace.
thank you for all the hints, and love to your hubby too
I'm definitely borrowing your garment bag trick for wrapping paper & wreaths. Such a great video. I hope your family had a wonderful Christmas 🎄.
