9 days ago we put the ice and water shield on our roof and spent a ton $ to do it.. happy we did though cause have you seen the weather lately? 🥶
Just in time! 🙏 God is so good.
Were doing it as fast as we can at a manageable pace we can afford and physically enjoy.
Think of what your budget would allow for you to put towards a goal after your expenses . food gas phone Internet insurance ect.. whatever's leftover - thats as fast as you can go. Factor in your physical labor.
How much would you get done in a month? How about a year?
Please be patient and enjoy our channel for what it is.. a vlog.
Us just sharing our life. 🤗

Not everyone can build overnight, there's thousands of dollars involved, family to raise, life to live, elements to work around. Building out of pocket can be time consuming. A few years to build out of pocket versus paying a mortgage for 20-30 yrs, I think I'd have the patience.

Here's a delicious idea. When you get a zucchini from the garden that has gotten rather large, (like a loaf of bread size) . Cut off one end of the zucchini, 1-2 inches, then scoop out the seeds. Now take your prepped meatloaf and stuff into the space the seeds were in. Put the cut end back on with toothpicks. Preheat oven to 375°F, place zucchini loaf on baking sheet then into oven for an hour or so. When done remove toothpicks, slice like bread. Meatloaf stuffed zucchini! Quite tasty... Enjoy!

Be careful with the heavy brick on the plastic. Cold plastic gets brittle and can collapse. You might want to build a wooden nest.

@@SimpleLifeReclaimed that’s good. I just know the cold made my son’s Lego container so brittle that when he popped the second one on top the bottom one just collapsed. They’re probably different plastic. ☺️

Living in Arizona or Nevada you wouldn't. You definitely need to make nesting boxes, the plastic won't last in the cold. @@SimpleLifeReclaimed

Melanie, I wanted to share a tip, during the summer months when peppers and onions are fresh I take & cut them up, place a layer on a cookie sheet and freeze them; then when they are frozen you can place them in a freezer bag and use them like the ones you buy. So much cheaper that way. I am glad this litter of bunnies made it.

    • @key4us2c
      @key4us2c 10 місяців тому +4

I do that with onions. Chop\minced, then put in zip lock, lay in freezer, flattened out a bit, so after frozen it can be easily separated. Quick and easy use for anything. I especially like using them frozen making tuna salad. It chills the salad in the mixing. And if you need onions in smaller pieces than they are, you can just hit them with something hard in the ziplock. I use the heavy handle of a knife.

JudithB I have the rubber bowls and couldnt pop the ice out of them. I have double waterers for the rabbits so one is thawing while the other is watering. Saves cold wet hands, plus the big trough was covered with 8"s of ice anyway. We were stuck on the mountain for 5 days, and the girls stayed in town so they could get to work. Glad to be out in the sun and getting spring cleanup started early!!

I call it keep it coming Meatloaf. But I must say, I'm going to try your recipe as I want my mouth to water like it is right now, when it comes out of the oven. Hello Melany and Gary. Taka a rubber car tyre and put isolation foam in it and a bowl with a round bottom. Use plastic kitchenfoil so when you turn the tyre around you can put the isolation foam in and the bowl will not stick. When everything is hard you can take the bowl out to refresh the water. I saw someone living in the Europian mountains do this for his chickens.

I noticed a crack for the cut out opening on the top left side. This could potentially be a weakened spot. The weight of the large brick on top combined with the cold air making the plastic brittle. This could collapse and fall onto the rabbits.

Ya'll can only do so much at once , daily chores is what life is about when u got animals to care for , growing up taking care on rabbits horses , chickens and ducks , there was never a day with out chores it's part of it ....... p.s. I seen you handled the baby bunnies , I was told you don't touch them until they come out on there own or the mother might kill them , I never tested that. So I waited till they come out of the box before I handled them , the feed store where I sold bunnies to told me the same thing , again I never tested that to see if it's a wise tail or not ....... I hope since you handled them she won't kill them ....

all you need to do is make some salt water bottles and place them in the waterer the salt water will make their water harder to freeze, I have done this for many years and it works really well .I just use plastic drink bottles glue the lids after you put them on so they don't leak, salt water will kill chickens so make sure the lids are on well.

Be careful guys, you're not supose to touch the babies and get your sent on them. The Mom could kill them. The hole for the rabbit nest Is to low. It should have been made higher In the middle of the plastic instead of the bottom so that the babies won't fall out of the nest and freeze to death.

Sometimes that can happen for sure. Definitely depends on your Doe's temperament and how much you handle her I believe. 🤗 I've found the more you handle her, the more comfortable she is that you handle her young.

I was watching another homesteading channel for a little bit. What he did was dig a round hole in the ground , round enough to put a black plastic pipe in the ground four feet down. The purpose was so the chickens water would not freeze up in the black rubber pan.make a square box to frame around the black pipe in the ground then put straw loosely around the pipe in the ground
If you watch that video you can build one like he did. He got over six k views. Well you just answered my question about those bunnies, yes they are so sweet. You are doing a fantastic job.

Not sure how true this is, but I was always told you shouldn't handle baby rabbits when first born because sometimes momma will reject them.

Yes they are so sweet and you will watch them grow up and then, kill them and eat them. I could never eat something like that. I guess I would just starve if it was my only meal. I am almost 70 and still remember when I was 11 on my grandparents farm and having a deformed looking chicken we named Tucker and watching my grandfather chase him down and cut off his head. They are him for dinner. I didn't and all my brothers could do was cry. Still traumatized by it I know it's nothing to a lot of people but I just couldn't.

If the rabbits can get near the chemicals in warm hands she chews it and no more Momma

Right, there is no way she can get the ones we are using under the cage right now. the block makes sure of that. - BUT Thanks for the reminder cause if we decide to use it on the water bottles to warm them we need to make sure there is no way for her to snag it. I don't think she would be able to, but always a good reminder to double check

Y'all know the "approximate due dates" of the kits . y not bring them into a temperature controlled environment?
Remove nail polish which is already chipping away prior to touching food.
Your UA-cam peeps who truly enjoy y'all sharing your journey... (that tree not tree house is MAGNIFICENT) STOP PLEASE making excuses..
If they suggest options ... don't say this is why (icy streets..blah blah)
Just say thank you for your suggestion & we will implement what we can when we can
Otherwise you are sounding like excuses excuses etc.
Philly we have had 6in of snow last 2 days.. Temps have been 12F feeling lower. My son has a tree co. & has been working in these cold temps.
Don't make excuses & you had a dusting of snow... you don't want to go get a rubber ball for your lil chickens water? Come on.

They don't have to make excuses. They do it the way they think best, just like you, me, and everyone else. As for the nail polish, I wish it would come off that easily. Lol. I'm not trying to be mean, but your comments sound slightly harsh. I hope you have a great day.

No matter what we say or do people will find a reason to view it and hear it from their perspective, which is not always a kind one.
Us telling our perspective of why or why not to do something isn't an excuse, it's our reason. There is a difference. At the end of the day we do what we want to do and what we are able to. Just like everyone else in the world.
