2016 Peugeot 2008 Review - Inside Lane

- This is the new facelift 2016 Peugeot 2008 and it features new design elements. The compact SUV now has a new wider grill and altered headlights to match its new 3008 sibling. Our test car is powered by a 129bhp 1.2 litre PureTech 3 cylinder turbocharged engine with 230Nm of torque. With this manual transmission Peugeot claims it will return 58.9 MPG combined.
The interior of this new Peugeot 2008 is relatively untouched, no bad thing. Interesting textured material line a spacious cabin whilst a 7 inch touchscreen comes with Apple CarPlay. Boot space is 410 litres or 1,400 litre with the rear seats folded down.

As an update to my previous comment. I have had the facelifted version GT line with the 1.2 130 bhp pure tech engine for 2 years now. This engine is brilliant, it's very quiet, at idle you barely realise it is running and for overtaking it pulls like a train.
There are niggles, like the useless cupholders and say nav maps are poor quality, but overall I love this car and would recommend it to anyone thinking of buying.

FWD makes more sense.

I don't understand Huw Williams comment regarding problems getting into the car. I have been driving a 2008 Feline for the past 3 years and at 6' 1" have never encountered the problem he describes, I assume he doesn't just try to walk straight in! The car itself is great, the 1.6 diesel unit is frugal, returning 54.6 mpg on mainly local journeys and has plenty of power for overtaking and rapid acceleration. Minor dowsides to the car are the infotainment system, very frustrating to use and the positioning of the usb ports and 12v socket. When using them it is impossible to put any cups into the holders. Black mark for the interior designer there! I will be buying the new facelifted version for sure.

Nice review and nice looking car. I am thinking about updating my 10 year old Citroen C4 with this car(2008) or 308 with automatic. I am leading to 308 mainly because it has smother automatic and more horsepower. I am wondering how is this 2008 with ESG and 83hp? Any good?

I'm sure he says it's the active model. Am I missing something mine is active 1.2 and mine doesn't come with some them features he just described like some chrome and led dials and grip control with 6 speed gear box

Dan Cooper mines the Active model, but when I spoke to my Garage they said Active does come with grip control only on models with a larger engine. They could have told me that before I signed away the money! I am so disappointed in car it handles terrible, should never have got rid of my 208 diesel.

Huge problem with this car for anyone above 5"6" is getting your head in and out of the door. The top of the door aperture is exceptionally low by any standard and for a crossover it is peculiar.
Otherwise I like it very much but chose a Nissan Qashqai to buy.
This is Nissan Juke size.
The Juke has no such entry and exit issues in the front. I owned one for three years. Both my daughter, who's the primary user, and myself, immediately noticed the entry issue with this car when we had it on demo. We were changing a Juke.
I was just pointing out that the Qashqai and 208 are two different classes of car. Great choice with the Qashqai by the way.

Yes, but France is a big market for Porsche and so the name was changed to 911.

I agree with Stuart..... I'm 6'7" and don't have any problems getting in and out.... in fact we are keeping my wife's current 2008 Allure and I'm changing my Yeti for a 2008 GT Line which has a "sunroof" and I still have enough headroom.
