It was very telling when even the announcers were remarking on the air, "Nebraska has already pulled their reserves and are about to run out of bench players. You cannot tell your players not to play hard." Shows how lousy a coach John Blake was.
Would not be politically correct, now would it. My favorite PC hire was Tyrone Willingham who said he never had a bad day. From Wiki regarding his 2008 season. At 0-11, Washington was the only winless team in the FBS, and the owner of a 13-game losing streak stretching from the last season. Washington closed out the season with a loss at 1-10 Washington State in double-overtime, making it four of the last five, and with a season ending loss at California. Willingham finished the season with an 0-12 record, the Huskies' first winless season in 119 years. His .229 winning percentage is the worst in school history. Yeppers, defiant SOB never had a bad day.
Why Blake hired that offensive coordinator was his undoing from the start….The defense had great athletes and held teams down but the offense would constantly put the defense in terrible positions with interceptions, fumbles & constant miscues giving opponents short fields….So painful to watch during that stretch of years…..

ESPN is already predicting a 10-2 regular season finish for 2019. Ut oh. Remember the AD said, when he fired Pelini, "he didn't win the games that mattered". He was 4-7 at YSU in 2018 and Tressel gave him an extension.
