      Premiere Pro Proxie Files are so easy to use in 2022. They’ve really simplified the process. I just wish Premiere did Speed Ramping as good as FCP. FCP just does speed ramping so much better. I can always tell which platform was used based on its speed ramps.

    I switched from Premiere to FCPX nearly three years ago. I shoot weddings and have very complex edits and I find the magnetic timeline in FCPX to be so much faster and easier to work with. I have to use Premiere for corporate work in my day job and it feels like editing with one arm tied behind my back. In terms of After Effects for the motion graphics side of things...I use Apple Motion instead. It's not as poweful but does 99% of the tasks that most UA-camrs would need and, like FCPX, it's incredibly fast once you've learnt the basics. I can't speak for motion tracking as it's not something I've tried out though TBH.

    • @trickyvideo98
      @trickyvideo98 2 роки тому +3

      Mate, the thing is I like the stuff he s does. He came out with a video of how great FCPX was and he was dumping Prem. He’s doing it for the money, Adobe have given him a sweetener.

      I used FCPX for a number of years (probably 5) at an agency. I've always used premiere pro personally. My biggest pet peeve of FCPX was actually because of the magnetic timeline, it's horrendous to me lol. The control I have in PP is amazing, however, it is the most inconsistent software I've ever used. I am almost convinced on switching over to DaVinci. I think it's a good medium between the two.

    • @JamesZhan
      @JamesZhan 11 місяців тому

      Yeah Matti is COMPLETELY missing Apple Motion for motion graphics stuff. He may still not like the lack of "dynamic linking" between FCPX and Motion, but Motion is way faster and more efficient for the motion graphic stuff I've seen him done on his channel.

  • @whatisjoedoing
    @whatisjoedoing 2 роки тому +34

    so FCPX creates MAAASSIVE rendering files. but i decided to turn off background rendering to see how it would effect my workflow. and honestly, with the new M1 macs, i don't really have an issue with it. my editing actually moves faster now because it's not constantly working in the background, and my library files aren't grossly oversized anymore.

    About "I don't like how big the libraries get" - for years I did not get it, but there are 2 MAJOR "hidden features" in FCP to setup - first, leave the original files in-place instead of creating duplicates INSIDE the FCP-project-file/folder, essentially how Premiere handles it, just create links to the original files. And second, move the Cache-file outside of the library, into a location that is not indexed by any cloud-backup. That dramatically reduces the size of the project file down to practically nothing.

  • @pbfilms6356
    @pbfilms6356 2 роки тому +19

    Reason #1 and biggest reason to use FCP over PP is magnetic timeline. Some people HATE it because they don't know how it works and are used to a track based editor like PP. If you really learn how it works, it's a game changer with longer edits!

    • @JoeCastellon
      @JoeCastellon 2 роки тому +4

      It’s also one of my favorite features. I can’t even grasp how people prefer to edit without it 😅 and FCP even enables you do edit without the timeline so that feature alone doesn’t seem to me like a reason to ditch FCP

    "SNIP, SNAP, SNIP, SNAP, SNIP! Do you know what kind of toll switching back and forth has on the body?!" 😅 Just cut a full 45 min documentary in FCPX and I 100% agree. But it's still so fast, I keep Premier around for AE and also collaborations with other industry editors. Good luck getting back into the flow.

    You should:
    1- Eat KABSA
    2- Include Camel 🐪 in your vlog!
    3- See a new city called Neom.
    4- See Quicksand in the Empty Quarter desert 🙈
    Anyway, if you were trying to show some sights of SA, your vlog covered not even 0.01 of 10 👍🏻

    Apple wins either way. You've already bought FCP, and you're buying their computers.They're happy. They're a computer/device company, not an NLE company. Nice video, and nice honest thought out points. Although, obviously I've biased toward Motion (having been an AE user since 1995) and the superior synergy between it an FCP. Which I never would have fully delved into if it wasn't for Adobe's subscription model turn off. In fact, they make it easy to leave the Adobe ecosystem since if I ever need it, I can toss a couple bucks their way and use AE or PS in a pinch. Which, in the last few years has been.... zero. 😆

      I thought I would miss Ae and Ps when I switched. I thought there was no way Motion could do what Ae does. Motion completely surprised me. The fact you can make your own title generators in Motion and leave them in FCP to use anytime is amazing. No reopening projects from another software or saving the template somewhere. I sometimes use Procreate for graphics. I’ll animator hand drawn text or graphics, air drop them to the computer and use in Motion. It’s too easy.

    The truth is that it probably is about just making another video. A UA-camr tries a new software and writes : I am switching to xyz. A week later another video : why I am switching to it. Two month later : is fcp still holding up? And of course they always love it. A year later: I am switching back to…. A week later : why I switched and so on and so forth. Who will switch next?
