Your permission to torque series gave me such an inspiration! I've had to sell my house because of the bitter sweet memories of a rather vemonous ex. Spent 8 years with her, bought the house together and went completely tits up but in the midst of the depression I was watching your permission to torque. It gave me the inspiration and motivation to just fuck off for a month to Europe on my old BMW. I started to get better, the mood changed, the mindset changed and I'm so glad that this ex is an ex. Taught me a lot of life lessons but the new me is so much better because of it. This trip that I've planned is a closing of one chapter and an opening of another and doing it on my bike that I'm absolutely in love with. If you ever feel upset or depressed just remember, you're inspiring people!
Keep the original GSXR! That was the original Baron bike, back in the old double bloody decker days! 🤗 I would give anything to find my old GSXR from back in the day!
Chris - good for you for being so open about your meds. Usually a taboo subject and one which so many of us are ashamed to talk so openly about. “Inspirational” is the best way to describe it.
That maybe was the case 20 years ago. It's allover now. Maybe little too much. Everybody has issues now. It has not been taboo forever now. Don't say this cause you think it's cool to say this.
A lot of those meds are addictive ('ka-jing') with nasty side effects. There was a time when 'alternative medication' was the norm, before the Rockefellers flooded the market with their big pharma treatments not cures/side-effects/vilify the natural products/vilify the scientists who complained/promote their products etc to create the twisted 'treatments' we have today. What with that and the jab side effects as well, god knows what's going on..
Mate, no matter how much you say (being sarcastic or not) that your videos are pointless or you don’t like going into the detail, they really are not. Your vlogs are the only ones that I really get engrossed in! I’m all for men’s mental health, thank you for being you and keep smashing out the content. Believe it or not, a lot of us, need you! I’ll be selfish and say, don’t go months without uploading, your weekly content is NEEDED 😂.
Excellent news Chris on all fronts from the sound quality of the mic, the planned trip to Morocco and getting off the meds - they have their place in many people’s lives but if mentally you’re up for it then go for it!! The last Permission2Torque series and trip out West was brilliant on all levels. Keep on doing what you do 😎 PS: would love one of your bikes but my overdraft doesn’t agree 🙄 PPS: keep the current GS 🇲🇦
Hey Chris. I've been swallowing Citalopram pills for a good 8 months now because the depression got so bad i had no clue what to do anymore. It's been with me for well over 20 years, but in 2023 i cracked. Can totally relate to what you're going through, even if the circumstances are different. Riding a bike was always my therapy, but i don't own one anymore. Thanks for sharing your personal adventures. I hope you get a slice of comfort out of it.
Definitely use the GSA you have Chris. You'll probably only do a very minor amount of off road and you can just put the full crash bars on it. You won't damage it if you have the right protection on it, just replace the bars after the trip. You would possibly lose more on depreciation selling it now than the cost of all that gear. You should go and do the off road skills course though, would be very handy to have the training and really shows how amazingly capable the GS/GSA is and how to use the electronics to your advantage off road.
Permission to torque was one of the best pieces of media I've seen so good to see a real life perspective on an amazing adventure it was a very distinctly real human experience vs a fiction and I commend you for the bravery of making yourself and your real life struggles part of the story.
Hi Chris. Yeah you’re right, houses can have too many memories. They can go from being a rock to being an anchor. Sometimes you need a re-boot. Good luck mate!
I would love a story time on the bikes! That would be very nice to see, probably very nostalgic too. Can't wait for the trip to Marocco either, I loved Permission to Torque a lot
I was prescribed citalopram as a last ditch treatment for severe referred pain causing a non stop migraine (like years of a migraine). Took about 4 or 5 days to "kick in", I couldn't last 2 days after that. The level of numbness and dissociation was too much. I felt like all the risk awareness built up over growing up was all gone, like it was highly likely I'd walk in front of a bus because the awareness was just not there. Anyway, point is that I took it not because I had to, I feel for those who do need it to help psychologically.
Chris you are braver than most of us as you openly talk about your problems. I cant talk for everyone else but for me its so nice that you are sharing, its important.
I did a 3 week tour from Blackpool through Spain and a loop of Morocco a couple of years ago. Best trip I've ever done, it's a roller coaster of emotions, sights, sounds and smells! I did it on a 2005 TDM900, and she never missed a beat for nearly 4000miles. Do it on your GS and you won't go wrong. Enjoy the trip, you'll want to do it again and again. And book a dinner in Rick's cafe, casablanca. Incredible!!!
Just wanted to say I’ve been watching your videos since day 1 and just love your content, so honest and always put a smile on my face, keep smashing it man! Inspirational
I hiked through the Atlas Mountains years ago, I went early June I believe and it wasn’t disgustingly hot but I was quite happy camping with just a simple tent and sleeping bag. Avoiding the cold nights will mean you need to carry less camping kit and leave more room for incredibly poorly made rugs and soft furnishings..
My confidence in riding has decreased massively so I'm gonna ride to Morocco. Man I love Chris' mind. Love the open honesty about the meds etc, refreshing to see/hear.
Morocco is on my 'must-visit' list. I have been watching 'One Man One Bike' who is currently over there and OMG it looks stunning. Can't wait to see how you get on...
Watching your touring videos inspired me to plan a trip from Ireland to Germany (lap of the ring while I’m there) and then back home via Amsterdam etc. I’ve had friends offering to join me but I feel like I need to do this on my own, I am always surrounded by people and I’ve a pretty stressful job, I love my wife and kid but I’ve never done anything for my self.
I’m 34 and feeling the same way! I want todo one of those adventure bike trips in Iceland or suchlike! I am pretty capable off-road and I have the money todo it! I guess it’s just breaking those chains of fear! Bloody book it and do it mate!!
Thank you sir for giving the rest of us some hope that things can eventually be awesome. Good luck with your move (one of the top 3 stress-inducing things I hear, and believe it based on personal experience).
Awww, mate, yes, absolutely.. !!! Loved the P2T series 1, I share a lot with you, I'm sure we all do... Really looking forward to the 2nd series, loving your work, keep swinging, man, 'it' will be ok.. ❤
Understanding my emotions has been bloody hard, especially as men who are conditioned to not express them correctly. But when you do work it out its like cheat codes, makes life so much less foggy. I desperately want to go to Morocco so I'm keen to see that. You've inspired me with your last trip, I'm going back to Cambodia to do an off-road bike tour in the wet season so much fun pushing the boundaries of my skills. So thanks for the motivation. Appreciate you.
Cannot wait for the next permission to torque vid Chris, I thoroughly enjoyed the last ones, I find them to be very motivating and helpful especially for people like me who suffer with mental health issues. Keep up the fantastic work mate 👍🏼 thank you
Love all your videos and so happy to see this new and positive mood content. Keep the GS take it to Africa this summer and enjoy it! Sell the bikes, sell the house before then and who knows.... maybe Morocco will just be the start of your journey into Africa?
Herr Baron, nice to catch up with ya...and g'luck with the meds, bike, and Morocco....sounds very exotic to this California Surfer boy. No shame on the meds! Good on ya for sharing, and if they've served the purpose and you can move along; do so. My only advice would be not to do it alone, use the help of your medico, or good friends. Most of them would love to be there for you and remember that life is really more of a team journey than many of us realize. Take care.
Great news been missing your blogs, always very entertaining and love your trips away, did a bike trip in Tenerife over Christmas and managed 850km over the island in 4 days an amazing large bike culture over there, keep strong buddy, and looking forward to your Morocco trip.
I just completed 1000km of sand , in 5 days…. KTM450EXC, guided tour. Top guys (Horizon adventures , Portugal, than you João… Utterly exhausted. I bloody love Morocco. best motorcycle trip ever best wishes Chris, have great trip.
Chris, I got diagnosed with adhd/autism last year. They wanted to put me on meds to stabilise me, but I thought bollocks to that I'm not a bad bloke. You made the right decision coming off the meds, just be you. All we need in life is motorcycles, gym and ice baths. Cant wait to see your new adventures.
I've been struggling to motivate myself to finish my website this weekend. It's been at about 90% and I've always had issues with completion. But your talk at the start, it just flicked inside of me and by the time the video (sadly) came to an end, my website is now finished. I love your content Baron, have done since your first ever video when I was a wee little whipper snapper
Chris - I love the concept of doing a feature on each bike before you part ways. I’ll be sad to see some go, mainly the 916. But part of the enjoyment of motorcycles is the buying, selling, fixing, trading and process of it. I’m looking forward to seeing these as they come in the future.
Great to see you back Chris and off the meds - good on you for being so open about it and who knows getting clean may actually help you - understand you and your life more than when on the drugs. Looking forward to your adventures and keep us all posted even if its just a rambling video. Ride safe
Done 2 weeks camping out in Morocco, it was a great experience. It has a plenty of rugged rocky roads stuff (real ouchie to crash and prepare for punctures), mountain stuff, desert stuff and crazy riding for miles and miles on the beach under the full moonlight stuff. A local guide/cook is a good thing to have at the more remote places. Don't buy a 1300GS for that trip, BMW is replacing the new engines after like 700kms. :D
Stick with what you got Chris it will see you though your adventures into the desert that's the GSA is all about. Can't wait for this year's content. Glad to hear you have come off the anti depressants great news mate! 👍
we just returned from marocco from a 10 day roundtrip. i cannot overstate how cold the atlas is, check out merzuga and if you are there i think it worths to check out zagora just for the garages. people are nice. take care with wild dogs we had a crash because of them. casablanca>marrakesh. it is hard to get alcohol even as a foreigner. have fun its a beautiful country to ride through.
Chris don't miss the port of Essaouira and I love Marrakesh. Eating tagine in a restaurant above the Medina, the sights, smells and sounds will stay with me forever. 😍
Yeah sell everything, house, bikes, they’re just things. Embrace change, it’s positive. Sounds like a great series coming up, could do with an adventure like that myself.
I rode from Glasgow to Malaga and got the overnight ferry to Melilla (Spanish enclave in Morocco), then over the border and a three-week tour, Atlas, Sahara, all that stuff. Back up the coast to Casablanca and on to Tangier. Ferry to Genoa and on to my son's wedding in Tuscany. Back over the Stelvio to Amsterdam, ferry to Newcastle and home - 6K miles. What bike? KTM 790 Adventure, was perfect. (I also have a GSA).
Great to hear of your new challenges (move, new bike, Morocco and meds) - I'm looking forward to future installments to see how it all goes. As for selling the bikes, it's probably not a bad thing to have an occasional clear out to help simplify one's life...maybe keep one favourite ;) Mic sounds really clear.
Chris stop saying these videos are pointless please good sir, I know speaking for myself and so many other people that we love these rambling videos, we watch this channel because of you and love seeing the adventures you go to or a random S1000RR back lane ride, I'm all for mens health too! appreciate the video and have a fantastic day mr double bloody decker
YES! Another road trip series. I've just finished watching, yes I know im very behind, the first P2T series and I thought it was great. So 2.0 would be good to watch.
Just go do it mate, ive just booked two and a half weeks in Spain/Portugal in September on the bike after having very unexpected open heart surgery in January. It’s been a massive boost to my mental state after alls happened recently, just go do it fella😎🙏🏽
I went to morocco because of you and Al's video about the Mick extance experience. While I was there I rented a car and did 600 miles of exploring around. The road from agoudal to boumalne dades is absolutely stunning. If you find yourself near either of those places you should check it out. There is also a great hike called the monkey fingers trail with a local guide named Lachen who's a top man and speaks english
Just go to South America! Spent 1.5 years riding through south and Central America and was life changing. Every day another bit of track gets paved so don’t wait. You never know enough, just do it.
Keep your bike and just add some protection to it. Bark buster hand guards, Double Take mirrors, valve cover protectors that mount to the crash bars and a full length bash plate. Maybe a tank protector sticker here and there and you’re good to go. Those ORS bikes are very low and they are very standard too in terms of options, plus they have had a hard time if you have ever done an ORS course and seen how some of them have been ridden. Hopefully off to Morocco in late march on my GSA.
I agree with having a beaten up bike for adventures. Its what i did with my Tiger 1200 Rally Pro, i opted for an ex triumph experience bike because it was £5k cheaper than new and had 3k miles on it. Its got its scuffs but i just take it out off road and enjoy it, use as intended.
Exactly the same as a friend of mine did. Test ride to Morocco and them shipped his bike to Anchorage before riding down to Ushuaia. That was about 10 years ago and he's not even half way down yet :)
You made the absolute correct decision, However, you couldn't have made that decision until you saw the wreck you were gonna swap it for. Look forward to Morocco, I am trying to persuade my missus to come to Scotland on the back of my SDR gen 2 this summer
Follow our usual route that’s ideal , at least for us. I’ve tried lots of alternatives (I’ve been to Marrocos almost every year since 2015) and this route is the best (mainly): via Teoutan, Chefchaouen, Fez, Ifrane, Merzouga (go to Auberge du Sud and rent a tent), Zagora, (Dades) (Toudra) Ouzzazate (Ait Ben Haddou), (Tata) Marrakech, Ouzoud, Fez, Tânger, Tarifa, etc…(possibilities if time allows).
We’re off in April Chris, look at a place called Agoudal and the R704,highest village in Morocco you’ll pass through the Dades and Boulmane gorges, look forward to seeing this video, might even see ya over there, well done on getting off the meds, and for letting us into your life…
Hi Chris. A suggestion for a night under the stars in the desert would be a mud and straw hotel that are dotted about. They look like French Foreign Legion forts in Tintin books. On top of the very wide walls one maybe able to roll out a sleeping bag. I have done this, but not since 1996. All the best, old chap. 👍
Im thinking of the same for this summer .Im 50 this year bought back my old speed triple which had been stolen. Ive rebuilt it over the winter and im thinking if riding it down to ibiza ,im from up north, where i spent a couple of mad holidays in my 20s . Dont know why i just feel the need...Rambling on sorry.😊
4:13 Chris, I can assure you that you're not too green for South America. I have 1/10th the riding experience and 1/100th the mechanical skills that you do. I still went and despite all the struggles, I had the time of my life there for 6 weeks. Once you've gone through the first few days of mental calibration it just starts coming to you.
Managed to test ride a GS1250 at the weekend! I now understand why they are BMWs top selling bikes! Loved it! Definitely own 1 at some point and do a euro trip!
Like 44 Teeth but absolutely love it when you’re flying solo as the Baron. Great plans for the year and I’m looking forward to following your adventures. All the best mate 👍
Just done Morocco on a RE Himalayan which was surprisingly a blast and did a 7 day guided rally thing on a KTM 450 - both adventures were awesome and I surprised myself at my off roading brilliance!!!. May I suggest as a global motorcycle adventurer - often on my own - that you control the black dog days by quitting all alcohol and meds. Just an idea that works for many people. There is nothing wrong with being all over the place - there’s a lot a place to be all over - so do it Go light on bike - you will be surprised - no one likes GSs or watching them - so try a Tuareg or CF Moto or Ducati -you will be pleasantly surprised Good luck
This trip that I've planned is a closing of one chapter and an opening of another and doing it on my bike that I'm absolutely in love with.

Keep the original GSXR! That was the original Baron bike, back in the old double bloody decker days! 🤗 I would give anything to find my old GSXR from back in the day!
Nostalgia
Is that the same gsxr that went off roading?
Wish I never sold my 2003 GSXR 600. Classic white and blue w/ the white wheels. It was my first bike. Loved that thing. Wonder where it is today..
That bike is what inspired me to go touring and off roading on my Honda naked bike. Good times
Absolute nostalgia!! I remember when he went into the shop on a mobility scooter to get one haha
Chris - good for you for being so open about your meds. Usually a taboo subject and one which so many of us are ashamed to talk so openly about. “Inspirational” is the best way to describe it.

@@juicy9592 what the heck are you mumbling on about?
@@PanicInSectorFive can't you read?
@juicy9592 personally I don't know many people that talk openly about the meds they're taking

Excited about this Morocco adventure. Seeing the garages reminds me of the Tour De Baron trip you did on the GsXr1000. You got me into motorcycles

Coming off of citalopram can be quite a shock to the system. You described it well as visceral.
Excited for you and the refreshing changes ahead.
44 teeth is entertaining but much prefer the solo BVG vids
Good luck this year with what you do and look forward to joining you on your trips

The Baron is Back. Frankly awesome news all around.
The excitement and anxiety bit helped put some bits into perspective. I'm glad you are doing better Chris ❤
"I want to film something that I'm really proud of and that inspires other people to go out and make the same mistakes that I make."
Love this.
Great to hear of your new challenges (move, new bike, Morocco and meds) - I'm looking forward to future installments to see how it all goes.
As for selling the bikes, it's probably not a bad thing to have an occasional clear out to help simplify one's life...maybe keep one favourite ;)
Mic sounds really clear.
Always good to see a new vid from the Baron. Love from Texas brother
Great video and I think you made the right decision, keeping the GSA. Safe travels.
The intro is sooooo nostalgic, love it
YES! Another road trip series. I've just finished watching, yes I know im very behind, the first P2T series and I thought it was great. So 2.0 would be good to watch.
Just found your channel and it's brilliant mate I'm enjoying what your doing crack on I'll be following
Top choice getting off the meds Chris! I took various kinds for many years, and they did me zero good! 😅
Always great and honest content from you. Can't wait to see how your plans develop.
Exciting plans ! I too seriously need to reboot my life. Move house. Clear put. You are inspiring me. 👍
Nice to see you again
Good to see the the filtering talk/ride/rant videos, always great to ride along with you. Hope the planned trip goes ahead.
It’s a great year for a reset. Lean in. Good luck with all the new adventures.
Im excited for the 2nd P2T adventure series. I greatly enjoyed the 1st. Hope you are doing well, Chris.
Love to see you as the mann version of Itchy boots :)
I've always wanted to go to Morocco. Looking forward to this one!
It is indeed nostalgic. Particularly the intro. Takes me back to goblin green chronicles. The pinnacle of motovlogging was very early...
Went to Morocco in October, and did the loop around as you intimated; was a fantastic trip😃👍
You’re at your best when your doing your tour videos. They are fantastic
Had a similar thing happen coming off the same meds. Confidence took a nose dive and became much more self aware of risk and danger on the bike
Managed to test ride a GS1250 at the weekend! I now understand why they are BMWs top selling bikes! Loved it! Definitely own 1 at some point and do a euro trip!
Top man Chris, same boat and reducing. Hope it all fies well mate . Thanks for the content
Watching your videos make me want to go for a ride. #inspiration
There is nothing wrong with being all over the place - there’s a lot a place to be all over - so do it
Go light on bike - you will be surprised - no one likes GSs or watching them - so try a Tuareg or CF Moto or Ducati -you will be pleasantly surprised
Good luck
Been to Morocco five times now. Absolutely LOVE the place!! Honestly, once you’ve been, you’ll want to go back again almost straight away!
Happy to chat about the place - if you are at the Bike Show this weekend, give us a shout. I’ll let you buy me a beer
You crack me up Chris please please please keep doing what you do. You help people probably alot more than you realise ❤
