100% Fix for GALAXY NOTE 4
This fixes note 4 emmc error, deep sleep issues, random reboot issues, boot loop issues, unable to wake phone, wakelock,
Paypal donation welcome if it fixed your phone you could donate here paypal.me/Arnookie anything helps no matter how small.
Anyone attempting this please do not go under the glass try push it forward from the battery compartment and then run a card around the edges of the grey plastic. Just go carefully when doing this and don't rush. You can heat the screen with a hairdryer to make removing the phone from the casing easier. It's the best way to do it.
Also you could use Aluminium Thermal pads or Copper instead of cardboard for better thermal cooling. Just make sure its 0.5mm or 1.2mm thick but no thicker!
You should not need wakelock but here is a link if you need it.

This is done at your own risk I am not responsible if you break your phone. 😉
I've done this to two Note 4s I had. Fixed them both. One was an older phone I had 'given up' on after it had deteriorated to the point where it refused to reboot without a 20 minute freezer session. (Even for simple screen shut offs). The other was its replacement which started to exhibit a lot of crashes and bootlooping all of sudden after a couple months of trouble-free use. I had tried various wake lock software on both before trying this. But the wake lock fix was never a sure thing, and eventually, it stopped doing anything.
Anyhow, if you've got an old 4 that you're ready to throw in the parts scrap heap, give this fix a shot. It sounds almost crazy, but it really works. And speaking of really working -- thanks to ARNOOKIE VR for putting together and posting this great little video. He doesn't throw in any ads so his stuff is really user to user -- and real. I think that's great. If this helps you, be sure to like the video, subscribe, and buy the guy at least a beer (or two!).
And spread the word! (Thanks Arnookie!)
I'm so glad it worked for you. Enjoy your working phones. Thank you for your kind comments. I really appreciate it so much. I rely on any donations to help me experiment and save people money. My donation link is in the description of the video. Any amount helps and and is always very very appreciated. No pressure to anyone to donate to me but it's a great way of saying thank you. A big thank you for spreading the word about this video. Take care and have a great day. 😉
I've been adding the link to this video everywhere I can (Android forums, Reddit etc).
By the way, remember that one phone that lost the stylus function? I went back in last night and added another layer of card shim to the digitizer connector and it worked! Fully functional Note 4s! Actually, it's great to have two identical models now -- lobe for travel, one for day to day. Plus, I now have a suefire test setup for battery diagnosis! If it doesn't work right in one OR the other, I can confirm that it's just the battery.
Something I thought about the other day about your technique: if I was somebody hoping to pick up a great phone for just a bit of money, I'd check the used sites for anybody offering a Note 4 for parts real cheap because of Emmc failure symptoms! I just checked my local used phone postings this morning and found 2 such candidates. One under $50.
Maybe a bit risky, but if you feel comfortable with trying your procedure, the payoff could make it worth the try!
SQ read at 201 mb/s (before it was 37mb/s) and write SQ write at 97 mb/s (used to be 31 mb/s) RND RD s 5753 IOPS (3640) and RND WR 2951. Im a happy bunny with this fix! Lets hope it holds! Battery seems to last a lot longer, no heating at all, and camera etc are opening up really fast now. Thanks mate!

1 month update report: repair is still working great! No issues. Nice to have the 'Deep Sleep' option again as it's made battery charge last longer than ever! Awesome.
Dude. You saved my life. Well, my phones life. It sat bricked for a few years and after trying multiple things, I came across your video again by chance and now my phone works. I have access to videos and pictures I thought I lost forever. Thank you!
I'm glad it helped. 😉 Merry Christmas. 🎄⛄
My dad threw his note 4 into a junk drawer after trying to fix it with new battery. Few years later my phone is on the fritz due to letting the kids use it, I come along and find this video and bam she’s working again. Thank you 🙏 2020
I'm so glad it worked for you. 😊😉
Tried this as a little experiment for a Note 4 I've had sitting dead in a drawer for over a year and it actually worked! Never thought I'd get it up and running again but here we are. Thanks for the video!
You are so welcome glad it worked for you. I have a PayPal donation link in the description if you fancy buying me a coffee. 😉
Wow after tying everything for last two years I gave this a go. My phone wouldn't do anything no charge symbol no boot just 100% bricked. Now I have a perfect working note 4 and I'm amazed that my Google vr works like you said it would with out overheating. You have made me so happy dude. 😉
Wow this really works fixed my note 4 after 2 years of greif. Thank you so much. This is amazing.
Is it still working fine ???
Can't believe it's actually worked! Nearly decided to throw my Note 4 away until this video. Thanks man
OMG! You are so awesome man. I watched this and dug out my two Galaxy Note 4 smartphones. The first one which I purchased in 2017 now works. I am blown away. It was stuck on the boot loop and because I don’t just throw stuff away, I’m now a happy camper especially now that I need a phone. The second note 4 has a black screen with the lights on, so that must be another fix. However, I’ll see if I can try this fix on my Note 3 that I liked so much. Kudos to you bruh. You are much appreciated.
Wow you're the best. I thought my Note 4 was only going to serve as a paperweight. It's been sitting in my miscellaneous electronics bin for the past few years. I decided to follow your instructions and voila!!!! Back in Business!!! I used the paper from a flat battery package and just cut it to size. Thank you!!!!!
I'm so glad it worked for you. 😊
I'm really thankful for your wonderful video. Sincerely i tried everything then I got tired after several days. I left the phone for several months then I saw your video. My phone is back to life thanks to you!!! Thank you
What a Genius!!! You literally saved my life. I've tried everything and nothing worked until now.
Glad it worked maybe you could buy me a coffee through my PayPal donation link in the description. 😉

You are AMAZING!!! Thank you, you saved my Note 4 phone. I used an old plastic discount card instead of cardboard. My phone works like a charm now. God bless you!!! 🌹🌷💐
I haven't turned on my note edge in 3years.. when I finally plugged it up.. nothing.. no charging light.. nothing. I replaced the battery and charger port, plugged it up.. still nothing. As I was about to throw it out I came across this video. Tried this method and "WALLAH!!!!!" My note edge is alive again. Not only did it charge. It powered on and works like I first got it. Thank you so much yo. Bigg help.
You are very welcome 😊
I have a PayPal donation link in the video description if you fancy buying me a coffee. 😉
Thank you very much
I have watched more than 100 videos to repair my mobile phone, all were useless, finallyI repaired my Note 4 after watchingthis video
Thanks. My Note 4 is still functioning for a week now. This repair has given enough confidence to change the battery on my Pixel XL. I might even buy another Note in the future.
That's great maybe you could consider a small donation to say thanks but no pressure link is in description. I'm glad it worked for you. 😉
Just wanted to say thank you. After a year of sitting in my drawer, my lovely note 4 is operational.
You have a coffee on me!

Thank you I really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy your working phone. 😉❤️
Greetings from Portugal! It works lovely. After two year of fridge... I can restart normally the Note 4. Long live the King ARNOOKIE VR!!!

Tried this fix last night and now my phones better than the day I got it,thanks a lot for uploading this .Easy to follow and to understand....will send a paypal donation when I get paid :)
I'm glad it worked for you. 😊
Thank you very much for your awesome video. My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 just died today. I followed your instruction and was able to fix the main screen frozen issues. My phone is now working fine.
MAN, I can't really believe this worked, I have a note 4 from at&t having emmc write errors when flashing it. Found your video and I had no faith on it, did it an BAM! The phone came back to life! Thank you! Wish you the best
Absolute legend! Managed to fix moms old Note 4 after 6 years of not working!
Thank you soooo much I was able to get photos off an old Note4. Took me 2 tries as a last resort I put the phone in the freezer and it worked! Thanks again!!!
Thank you. I only occasionally get an MMC error on boot. I always get hanging issues without the WAKELOCK. I just installed the new Wake Lock Revamp - PowerManager from the Play store as it's the one you use and I had no idea there was a new one. Everything still working good so far. Not sure if I should risk this "operation" at the moment but certainly will if it gets worse! Samsung / carriers should be made to pay to fix this fault as it's inherent!
I'm really glad it's working for you. The mod is well worth it. It makes the phone perform how it should. I take small PayPal donations links are in description. No pressure just please like and subscribe if you get chance. 😊
This is the only method that actually fixed my problem with my note 4. Thanks a lot for this video m8.
Im glad it worked for you. I have a donation link in the description for small donations. No pressure but anything helps. Have fun with your working phone. 😉
BRO!!! SO FAR SO GOOD. REALLY WORKED. SOLVED ALL!!! UNSOLVABLE PROBLEMS AFTER SO MANY POSSIBLE FIXES. THANX A MILLION!
Is it still working fine ???
My wife has an old Note Edge SM-N915V (from 2015) that started having this issue. It's designed differently inside - but the memory chip is in the same location, and the phone is easier to disassemble since there is no glue involved. I used the cardboard in similar fashion, and the phone booted right up and started working again. It is on Marshmallow now, so we'll see if it has any sleep issues, but so far, so good. Thank you sincerely for the advice.
I'm glad it worked for you.
Thank you so very much my note 4 has been a great door stop or paperweight due to the fact I could never rely on it! following your instructions now, it seems, as of the last month or two, you really may have found the best possible solution so thank you!
You are so welcome I'm glad it's working for you. 😊👍
YES its work, i just FIXED 2 note 4 same Emmc error, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. i will keep my note 4 in 2020.

This revived my 1 year-ago dead Note 4....
Easy to do honestly. I'm not a pro tho...

@@ArnookieVR Hello dear. Shoud I use double tape along with cardboard ???
@@inzargul6913 No it's not necessary. 😊
This worked for me (so far). My Sprint Note 4 suddenly started rebooting 4 days ago. I never got the EMMC error so I delayed trying this solution. Took phone to Sprint repairs and was told they don't have partsfor my 'old' phone so the recommend I upgrade to a new phone. Being at the end of my rope I decided to give ur fix a try & for the 1st time in days my phone is working perfectly for several hours. THANK YOU!
That's great news maybe you could buy me a coffee. Donation link is in description. 😉
Thank you so very much for posting this. It worked perfectly. I haven't been able to use my note 4 for over a year. You rock! I will definitely donate.

Dude you brought my Note 4 back to its glory. Not only it doesn't get hot anymore but it is waaaay more responsive. I am using lineage 16 (pie) and it looks amazing. Also I have the same battery as you and I knew the problem was not with the battery nor the charger. Cheeeera
You are welcome if you fancy buying me a coffee or beer my PayPal is in the description of the video. 😊
Is it still working fine ???
I think you're definitely onto something with this.
had the typical issue and installed wake lock. then it i let it run flat by accident and it would not boot no matter what charge the battery was (tested the battery charge with a multi-meter so i knew it wasn't the battery).
what i did to get it working was i removed the outer casing and firmly but gently pushed down on the area where you put the cardboard, and held preassure there until it booted to the home screen.
Might be placebo but i'm quite convinced you just saved me £200!
Bought a note 4 second hand about a 2 months ago and have had none stop problems.
I was very reluctant to by second hand but the GAME employee assured me it was under 12 months warranty.
went back to the shop with the phone when it wouldn't boot, only to be told that it's a refund in in store credit only and that's only after they send it off for a "2 week repair".
we all know that means it will be sent back to me as "water damage". typical.
Again thanks for this video, i'm really not in any position to be dropping another £200 on some other phone only for Samsung's totally not planned obsolesce to kick in 2 years later.
Subscribed and liked :)
I'm really glad it worked for you. I take PayPal donations info is in the description if you fancy buying me a beer as a thank you. 😉
Plenty 2nd hand on sale in eBay for £150.
Taking it apart was a pain, and it wasn't working at first, but it does now seem to have worked! I did layers of copper tape I have until I was about 1.00mm. That may be too thick. If using cardboard it could compress and still work. I went back to about .7mm and put it back together. I have wakelock uninstalled now and for the first time in three years I can turn the phone on and off without issues. Mine is an unlocked Sprint Note 4 (unlock was complicated). I used on TMobile for about a year and it crapped out. Looks good now!!! Thanks!
My phone had to go into the freezer everytime I wanted to restart. I was highly skeptical about this but I tried it as I didnt have much to lose. I used aluminium foil instead of cardboard and surprise surprise the phone restarts now wiithout issue! Thank you so much!
So glad it worked for you enjoy your working phone. You could make a PayPal donation if you like but no pressure. Just please subscribe like and share the video. 😉

Awesome, had already prepared a new phone, then saw this. Operation performed today, hardest moment was loosening the bottom near the usb connector. I used a 0.8 mm copper cooling plate 15x15 mmfor the chip and two pieces of creditcardplastic (all creditcards thickness 0,76 mm) for the connectors, connectors clicked in fine, phone booted after closing!! Working fine so far, turned off wake lock, now will wait and see if the fix is permanent. Thank you so much, I really love this phone, use it with otterbox defender plus special brodit otterbox active mount in the car.
Really glad it worked for you. I have a PayPal donation link in the channel description of you fancy buying me a coffee. I'm just glad it working for you and no you should not need wakelock anymore. It's worth buying a decent battery if you find the battery has lost capacity. It often happens with the emmc issue. Just don't buy those cheap batteries from eBay they sell tons of fakes.
EXCELLENT !!! Thank You, it worked
Thank you so much for this information I had a nightmare with my phone as you say putting it in and out of the freezer to try and get it to boot properly
Did you try this fix. It really does work for most people. 😊
Geat job.
Tried on mine Note4.Previously carried on.After repair, weak as new.
Thank you so much. It worked on my Note 4 (N910G). Before I tried the "Freezer Method" but it's just a temporary fix. Then I found your video. After doing your method, I can turn my phone on and off. Then I just installed a custom LOS 15.1 rom without wakelock app. Thank you!!!
That's great would you mind subscribing and liking the video. I removed adds to make the video easier to watch. So any donations to my PayPal link are very much appreciated no matter how small. 😉 Take care and enjoy your working phone 😊. 😉😁

check his description it has a lot of useful tips.
Thank you I'm really glad it worked for you. I take small donations but no pressure at all. I'm just glad to help you. If you still have heating issues you could try aluminium, tinfoil or a thermal pad to improve this fix, Enjoy your working phone.
The tiny camera is actually the 'infrared blaster' -- another handy hardware device that Samsung stopped including in future Note models. I still use mine on my tvs and such. And even when I'm somewhere else and somebody has lost their remote! But you're right, you have to include it a bit when moving that board off and on. And I'm not totally sure, but the little connector ribbon beside the camera that has to be dealt with when lifting and lowering the board, looks to me like it's connected to the 'proximity sensor, and not the camera itself.
@@TheBroacher I used the infrared alot. Never understand why they never put it in the new devices. Samsung really cock up alot in my opinion. Make new devices and remove some of the most handy features just makes no sense.
You are the best. This fixed my note 4 that would not even boot or react at all. was completely dead for 3 years. now fixed thanks to you. I followed the video and had it working in less than 30 minutes. I owe you souch. thank you thank you thank you. 👍
Hello my english is not so good. I have a Note 4 910F with EMMC Error. My Note not working good with Wakelook
How can i fix this? Which glue i can use? I dont unterstand
@@humiboy87 You can use any glue. Even a small blob of bluetack. 😉
I not unterstand how can this small glue fix the EMMC Bug an Note 4?
I will try this but can i use any double sided glue?
@@humiboy87 you need ceral box cardboard folded three layers thick and either double sided tape or glue. Hope that makes it clearer for you
@@humiboy87 It works by putting pressure on the emmc chip. This help it reconnect to the mainboard.
Brilliant!!!! .Thanks ARNOOKIE VR.... Hardest part was separating the screen/plastic. Used folded aluminium on the chip. My phone's back online.. :)

Thanks!!! Works great for my Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910F)
That's great you could consider buying me a coffee through PayPal donate. My link is in description. 😉
Thank you. I can now restart my note 4 without putting it in the freezer.
Thank you so much, been debating doing this for months now, as I haven't had much luck with fixing smartphones (I fix computers daily so I'm used to fixing electronic stuff and I have some knowledge but I am just too clumsy for phones, it's just too delicate), I usually break other stuff that used to work or break it completely.
But I ended up doing it as my phone crashed like twice a day an needed to go in the freezer to boot again (already had wakelock and it had been doing fine, it was still fast despite being old and wouldn't crash often, but was annoying when it would run out of battery, but after like 2 years it started freezing a lot and would crash often.), so it was either I could try to fix it or I would need to get a new phone, which I didn't wanna spend the money for, but it was not usable anymore at this point.
And it did fix it, it boots up nicely, hasn't crashed yet and seems faster but for some weird reason the fingerprint scanner stopped working which seems very odd as I didn't mess with that area at all. But in the end I'm really happy about it, the fingerprint is no big deal, I'd rather have a working phone that I unlock with a code rather than a brick with a fingerprint scanner.
It's odd for the scanner to stop working. Pin is more secure anyway. I have a PayPal link in the description if you fancy buying me a coffee or beer. 😉
Curious why does the freezer trick work? When my battery runs out I have to take the battery out for 10 minutes and put it back in and try again. Sometimes I have to keep trying every 5 to 10 minutes maybe four or five times until it works again. Why is that?
@@DannyTillotson something related to bad solder joints, the cold makes them contract and make better contact to allow the phone to start.
It's only a temporary fix, just like the one in the video, I had to get a new phone 2 or 3 months after doing this fix because it totally stopped working.
@@imnota Gotcha! Thanks for clearing that up!
OMG IT WORKS !!! You are my Hero ♥️
Thanks for this!!! Definitely worth a try....
My Note 4 has been dead (constant rebooting or hanging at the gremlin man with an error) so I gave it a go this morning. I have to charge
the battery before I can thoroughly test. It did power up initially, so that's a good sign that
at least I didn't make it any worse...LOL.
It's a bit un-nerving at first pushing on the black part (when trying to separate the creme colored part from the rest) to get the bond to "pop" but it did. I found that hooking my fingernails on the edge of the metal bezel and using my thumb to push against the black part in your video (thru the battery area) worked the best, then sticking a credit car=d in the gap to keep it open while I did the same around the perimeter.
Those blue/grey wires are a bit of a bear to get back on....sooooo tiny. If one can get by without disconnecting, I suggest it.
The small ribbon connectors were amazingly easy to pop off and back on.....I worked on a Garmin GPS a little while ago to replace a screen and their connectors were a real bear.
I found that the cardboard I used , which looked just as thin as yours, was a tad too thick for the larger of the two sockets to seat properly so I tore the one
lamination from each of the two pieces i used for the sockets/ribbons. I used a small drop of super glue to affix the cardboard to the chip.....
For anyone who is wondering, my "first run" attempt at this took about an hour....a magnetic jewelers screwdriver and a magnetic tray to hold the screws is a
must IMHO. Also, I needed magnifying glasses to do it.....I guess I am getting long in the tooth. LOL
Like I said , it powered up and is now charging, so that is a good sign. Will test it
out later after fully charged.
Question,
though....the "wake lock"....is that just an app that I can download from Play?
Yes I'm glad it worked for you so far. If you do still have issues try ceral box cardboard folded 3 layers thick. It seems to work perfectly. You should not need wakelock but occasionally it is still necassary if you still hit the deep sleep issues. Wakelock is available here if needed. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wldonate
Please if you don't mind subscribe and like share the video. It would be a big help. That's all I ask if it fixed your phone. :0-)
SO it has been 3 full days and I have seen no rebooting or hangs yet...... But --- it doesn't have the SIM installed, though it is connected to WIFI...would the EEC chip still be getting used in this case? I switched phones and phone companies when this all started back in February.....
@@davepersonal9082 Thats great to know enjoy your working phone :0-)
@@davepersonal9082 Yes the emmc chip should work fine now.
so after trying various "fixes" for weeks I ran across this video...I got me a set of small screwdrivers and dived in. in general, the video does a good job of showing how to re-seat the chip.
after putting the device back together, there is both good news and (so far) bad...the incessant boot-looping seems fixed, so that is a HUGE plus, but now the phone gets to the T-mobile screen and just hangs, so my joy has been very much tempered by the lack of having a working device.
i am currently scouring XDA for fixes to my phone's hang issue...i did flash a good number of things trying to fix the boot-loop issue, so maybe it just in a bad state or something. the current ROM is stock 6.0.1. perhaps someone here has a direction to point me in to fix my hang issues. i did go into recovery and wipe both cache and factory reset. i will be trying to re-ODIN the factory ROM tonight unless someone here has a better idea.
thanks to the poster for the video...if I do manage to get the phone working I will send him a few bucks in appreciation.
Thank you I really would appreciate any donations. This is only a small channel and I do my videos just to help people or save them money. Your phone should work when you put the latest factory ROM. If it's just booting to logo you probably have a corrupt ROM or flash. Download Odin and go to samobile website for your correct ROM. Make sure it matches your country and carrier preferably. it does sound like you have fixed it apart from your ROM issue. 😉
@@ArnookieVR so ive used ODIN to flash the latest 6.0.1 ROM (QI2) and it installs, reboots into the android dude and the text "loading system"...then says "erasing" then goes into a boot loop. super frustrating to be honest i have put soooooo much time into getting this damn thing working i would love to just see it work. maybe i flashed the wrong kernal a while ago so tomorrow ill try to find the stock one and give that a try before just giving up.
@@markenriquez3809 Sure sounds like you fixed the emmc or you would not be able to get as far as you did. It will most likely be the kernel causing this like you seem to have figured out. You could try a custom ROM with matching kernel to try get it running or try find the official kernel on xda. I hope you manage to get it working. Good luck.

@@laraelbahnasawy Thank you for the donation. Really appreciate it 😊❤️
Keep in mind that this is not a permanent fix. One or more balls or solder joints have failed. The cracked joints will corrode and will eventually fail. Back up your phone on a pc or mac with Samsung software. Be sure to save your critical data onto the SD card often. Once this fails for good you may never get your internal data back without paying $$$. You can also buy thermal conductive foam and put it over the processor. This will conduct heat away and still put pressure on the chip. The cardboard will cause the chip to get real hot causing lock ups or failure.
You safe me to kick start my note 4 sitting in the cupboard for 3 years. Thanks
Thank you it worked like a charm!!

My Note 4 was turning on but there was nothing on the screen - it was black. I suspected the 2 sockets/plugs connecting the screen to the motherboard, as it had had this problem once before when I got the phone wet. At that time merely disassembling the phone and unpluging the screen and drying it all with a hairdryer did the trick. But this time the phone did not get wet.
As suggested here, I put a folded piece of light cardboard 0.66mm thick in total, under each of the 2 screen plugs so as to make a tighter connection to the sockets. I also put a 0.66mm thick piece onto the black square chip held on with thin double-sided tape, and a smaller 0.33mm thick piece under the larger plug which also plugs into the socket lower down on the motherboard. I didn't want to use foil as its conductive and if it slips at any time in the future it might short the motherboard. I reassembled it all and low and behold it worked and I have my Note 4 back! Thank you very much for the info.
If I had to do it over again I would probably just put a 0.33mm piece of card under each screen plug and leave out the rest, as I was only having problems with the screen and not the EMMC chip.
For anyone curious of the longevity of this fix, I successfully did mine 7 months ago and mine still runs with the same performance as it did right after the fix (not perfect or new by any means, but enough to work reliably). It's worth mentioning that mine still needs Wakelock to keep from randomly freezing, so my battery life is still abysmal, but my battery is several years old and probably needs replacing anyway so your milage may vary. Also it won't reboot immediately upon powering off, so I can't do a restart (I have to shut down completely, wait a minute or so sometimes with the battery out, and then power back on), or do anything that requires an immediate restart like a factory reset or update, but at least it can be turned off without worrying that it may be the last time, lol.
One other thing worth noting about the repair process: when you unadhere the glue in order to take it apart, it's possible that the glue will lose some of its adhesion and the glass will no longer sit flush with the rest of the frame when you put it back together, which will get your front camera full of dust and throw off the proximity sensor calibration. I'm going to open up the phone again soon and see what I can do about that, and if I get that fixed I'll update this comment.
The Note 4 is the greatest smartphone ever made, I'm not giving it up, and I've been recommending this fix to people on Reddit and other forums, and when I can afford a donation you're first on my list. Thanks again!
downgrade to lollipop
Thank you so much for this video! Totally fixed my boot-loop issue. However, I did notice that the phone was still getting pretty hot and laggy like it did before. (But it TURNS ON after 3 years of being hidden at the back of my shelf!) I think I did something wrong while trying to open the screen because now the "back" button on the bottom right of the screen does not light up - it still functions as it should, so I don't mind it not lighting up, but I am open to getting it fixed, if someone knows how.
Very useful!! Thanks.
You are a genius , my phone work fine now , i don't need anymore a wake lock ! Thank you a lot !

does this method reduce heating issue...
@@ArnookieVR hi..nice to see u have helped so many souls. Just out of interest, what is the difference technically when one uses cardboard and another rolled-pressed aluminium foil. It should be either a heat dissipate or conductor...in my mind I am thinking isn't both entirely different for the same problem...and how is it that it works? Can u pls explain. Thank u.
Yes

Is it still working fine ???
this phone haunts me to this day , i remember the day i got it i was the happiest lad ever , i barely lasted a month with it after it started glitching and lagging ,it would complain about an emmc failure , i moved on to the note 5 , tough choice but it was a better move
Despite the illness that makes you speak so annoying...(believe me , i had to make an effort in order to watch the entire video, it gave me the feeling that i should throw out the laptop to stop hearing you) , this method really fixes the Note 4 Emmc problem.
God bless you with health and happiness for sharing this with us! THANK YOU VERY VERY MERY MUCH! I hope you feel much better now and the infection you are talking about may become just a bad dream that it over. Wish you all the best! I just found out I have something growing in my lungs. Had to have a full body scan to see if it has spread. But the hospital have been rushing me through tests. Have a great day and enjoy your working phone. 😉
Armookie hi! I have a front camera issue. I doesn't work anymore, i get the message: "warning! An error to the server occured. Restart camera". I opened the phone again and again trying to stick everything in place, but no success. Any clue?
Been years since I've tinkered with my Note 4. This fix seems to be working for now. Need to buy some new screen adhesive though, it keeps popping out leaving a gap.
Up to now I've been using WakeLock and a deep freezer. The drawback of this is when away from home and having to find a supermarket freezer cabinet to drop it into or trying to explain to a friend exactly why I need to put my phone in his freezer first to charge it up. I've even twice resorted to buying an ice lolly.
Thank you very much
Does Front Midframe uses Chunk amount of adhesive? i was curious about it since Galaxy S5
Thank you much !
@ARNOOKIE VR You are Awesome and this is a very good video.. I think it would have worked. 2 points that really really would have helped. #1- Making it VERY CLEAR, DON'T POP OUT THE GLASS. #2- The thickness of the cardboard, using a dime or a nickle or something we all have available to compare it to. I Popped the glass and used (what I thought was thin cardboard), either way, many hours later, I cracked the main screen, but before cracking it, it would NOT light up or turn on, I could hear the phone boot up but no screen. I didn't know if possible one of the 2 main connectors were NOT clipped in. Anyway, I really do Thank You for the video!!! It was "My bad", but it still sucks!! But really, thank you!!! I might possible do it right if I get a 2nd chance...
Glad you enjoyed trying it. Sorry you broke the glass. Such a shame but.its really worth trying if your device does not boot or get the emmc error. 😊
@@ArnookieVR Thx for the reply. It is sad to me your video doesn't have more views! I do kinda wish you'd make the video again and be more clear on the glass sensitivity part. But at the same time,.. Well, it's Not worth you time, because You did say it.. Anyway, thanks again!!! Question though, what connector controls the screen? And shouldn't the screen at least give some light even if it's broken? What did I do wrong for the screen Not to come on at all.. though I can hear the phone boot up? Thanks again!!!
@@sogbryan6633 the connections are on the back side of the board just below the camera. Just make sure to press the motherboard board down fully you should have heard some small clicks when you did so. If the phone is no good to you I would appreciate it if you could donate it to me. I really could do with a spare to make a new video. 😉
@@ArnookieVR I would gladly give you the phone but I'm living in Belize so w/shipping and duty, it wouldn't be feasible. Also, for some reason, with or without the cardboard, I could get the "clicking" sound. I could pull up on the sides of the board and w/the resistance, it felt connected on both sides.. just no clicking sound. I think there's somethings else wrong but it's over my head, the main display(not screen) is Not actually cracked, it's more like slightly creased, so I would thing that the phone would at least bring out some color but no, simple stays black. Anyway, thanks again for the video:-)
The fix worked great! They only problem I'm now having is my S Pen isn't working anymore. I had two Note 4s I used this fix on and both the same. Everything working but the S Pen. I appreciate this video a lot, thank you.

amazing. big thanks it worked. altrough I accidentally raped a bit of a cable at the top of screen and now left menu button does not work. but downloaded free app so I got it back when I touch screen

So glad it worked for you. I have a PayPal donation link in the description if you fancy buying me a beer. 😊
Answering my own question: If you are doing this on a Galaxy Note Edge, its a much simpler job as the sub-cover and the logic board comes out way easier. All the connections are on the top of the logic board and have an easy access.
However, theres no room to insert a piece of cardbox in between the chip and the cooling piece. I did this and my logic board stood lifted just enough for the Vibrator Motor connectors not to touch the board. Thats why I had no vibro function.
If you have a Galaxy Note 4 Edge, you have to use a much slimmer piece to press the chip. I used a cooling piece (pad) of a broken cellphone chip and its barely thicker than an electrical tape, so perhaps 2 or 3 layers of electrical tape should do the job if you don`t have a broken cellphone laying around. Apparentely, the tolerance in the note edge it`s way smaller than on the regular Note 4.
I assembled all up and my phone booted wihtout spending 20 minutes in the fridge for the first time in 6 months. I`ll update you guys in a week to let you know how it holds up. Thank you @Arnookie VR for the excellent video.
Incredible, does the principle of working cardboard cool EMMC? ,, I will try on Xiaomi MI4, a few days ago suddenly restarted, and finally it can't boot, even though I have flashed several times, it still bootloop, hopefully this method gives hope
Who is being tortured in the back room? I can hear someone torturing someone. Dont sound like no movie either there boy.

Hello,
You mentioned that there is a certain Android version that doesnt use emmc as Lollipop does. Can you tell me which one? Ex. 5.1.1 or previous ones. Thanks
do you repair if device is sent to you. samsung said device was rooted and i requaire a reflash new os on. had emmc error stuck in boot
The emmc error is what this guide fixes. If you can follow the guide you could do this yourself. I could do it for you but could not guarantee it will work on every device. Some devices the chip fully fails and needs a new emmc chip itself or now motherboard. It's worth trying this first because it has a very high success rate. Like I said it's not guaranteed to work for every single device.
Anyone that lands here, you can alternatively use a folded piece of aluminum foil to make your shim. The foil should provide better heat transfer. I left the heat pad in place but you could remove that as well. I did not need to use shims on the connectors, I did quite a lot of folds I would say just shy of 1mm thick and then trimmed where I could with scissors.
Yes I have been suggesting that as well as copper or aluminium plates or thermal pads. Look in the description for details. 😉
@@ArnookieVR I ended up opening it again and found I had to use pieces of business card for shims on electrical socket connectors to get good connection. I could see using a copper shim it would just need to be sanded rather thin. I wonder if this bga issue is related to the newer non lead solder and temp change issues.. Lots of electronic components were affected.
@@epoxeclipse Wouldn't it be great to know the actual cause of the defect? The non-solder change sounds very plausible to me! I wonder what other devices have been effected this way? I have an old Asus Vivotab Note that was going wonky in terms of the touch screen. When I checked online, tons of other owners were getting the same problem, all in the same time period. As advised, I opened up the unit, barely wiggled the relevant connectors and its been fine ever since. And it's about the same vintage as my Note 4. Could it just be that there's an unaccounted for solder defect that only manifests itself a couple or three years after being built? Hmm.
@@TheBroacher one of the biggest issues was they changed to tin based solder from lead based solder. Lead solder lasts much longer and was easier to use in industrial manufacturing. Lead based solder also held up much better to heat cycles. So they changed to a type of solder which requires different parameters to use in industrial processes and then also doesn't heat cycle nearly as well. This caused major problems. If you talk to anyone that does bga reball they will tell you use lead based for the reball.
The front camera feeds from under the top of the board. Check you have not trapped the camera ribbon cable under the board. Its really easy to miss that small ribbon when re-seating the motherboard. It loops over to the back and clips in. watch from 6.25 minutes into the video.
Did you manage to fix your camera issue with the advice I gave you?
amazing video going to try the fix what about using thermal compound on the emmc chip to help keep it cool would that work better ?
Do not use any thermal compound at all. Trust me it's a really bad idea. Please read the video description for more details. 😉
definitely a tricky part... those two wee connectors that he shims up... of 4 junk Note4's, i was able to resurrect 2... but the Stylus no longer works on one... but, hey, it works otherwise! (I'm the one that did the "put in the freezer" trick originally, and now i know it's the expansion/contraction that causes it to work sometimes... but this fix is MUCH better, if you can do it carefully, and if it works... it all makes sense... crappy Samsung soldering!)... read advice also below from Chris Just (Chris the cabbie)...
The two connectors where ArnookieVR puts tiny cardboard shims, i think is necessary. I also put a TINY spec of whiteout on the opposite side of the board, so i'd know where to press kind of firmly to seat those in. you could also try that... also, make sure the shims keep the connectors perfectly flat, as ANY angle will stop from connecting properly. This DOES WORK (but you gotta get a bit lucky...)... one of the screens separated on me (i tried to pull the screen itself instead of the backing that the screen is attached to. If I were doing again, i'd put my oven up to about 150F, then turn it off, and put the phone in for about 20 minutes to loosen the sticky on the seals, and then pushing from the battery compartment should be a bit easier.
I'm on my way over to give Arnookie a few bucks... THANKS!
Thank you and thank you for sharing your advice. I'm glad it worked for two out of the 4. Maybe give them a try again. It usually works. 😊👍

How do you get the screen off because Anytime i try to get the screen up i feel like im going yo break the phone in half.
Warm the screen with a hairdryer on the hot setting it should pull away easy after that.
Hello, I have this phone and apart from this issue (which I´m afraid it will stay because I wouldn´t even try to open it) the rear camera has an issue, it shows some colored lines when opening the camera in a low light environment. They appear both in the "preview" when you oprn the camera and they stay in the recorded video. The front camera works fine. Do you have any idea about this problem?
It sounds like it needs a new camera module or maybe just the camera cable needs disconnecting and refitting.
I have tried this..it worked for a while..than stopped. Changed mother board..quite a bit of cost...but this problem started again about a year later ..again..same Emma error, which cannot restart the phone..needs freezer!
This time I followed the UA-cam guide..I switched to tin cut out...it was worse..so switched back to card...but still needs to put in freezer to restart...and going down one version back is weird..but I found no use in that..used wake app but that drains battery fast..(replaced battery)..well I guess, age of the board and solder connections failure could be the reason...maybe the sd card and simcard connection...or charge port....or just basic quality of the battery...yes...not all replacement battery is good.
