As someone who lives is Waco I audibly laughed when you said, “not a fancy town…” 😂 You should have seen Waco when I got here in 2009. Downtown was 80% boarded up and now it’s thriving. But yes, we got some work to do. 😄
As a Wacoan and former employee, I can tell you the Magnolia team takes the corporate motto of We Do Good Work That Matters to heart. We (I still claim them as my family) pray for that day's guests each morning before the doors open. Like Joanna, the team learns *every* single detail matters and there's no product ding or guest need that's too small to not at least attempt to solve. I could chat all day - but know that warm weather visitor volume is highest. If you can stand the Texas heat, mid August to mid September (minus Labor day weekend) is super for lower crowd volume when most folks are busy with back to school. Tues-Thurs are the best days to visit any time of year. Part of the success of Fixer Upper was that Jo and Chip's clients could buy houses for a song in our (then) soft real estate market and spend $$$ on the reno. We're a working class college town that's now attracted the world's attention - tourists, venues that want to sell to tourists, real estate investors, a Musk Space-X plant nearby, and you name it. Sadly the resulting skyrocketing home prices haven't helped our local families with affordable housing and other issues, but the new life has allowed Waco to prove streets and long needed infrastructure upgrades. The current economy may prove to be hard on tourism and the discretionary spending that is our lifeblood, but we've learned what success feels like and are proud of our city . I believe God ordained and guided our town's past and the mission and ministry of Magnolia and will give us all we need and more. So pleased and blessed you came to visit us!
I lived I Seattle for 21 years and left it for Oklahoma in 2019. The prices in Texas and OK are for real. Your money goes much further and the people are so nice
I adore your channel. And the way you think and appreciate fine things, fine old things! As a Texan I’m glad you had a great experience! Y’all come back soon!
When I went to the Silos, someone (a visitor) started singing Amazing Grace when I was in the church on the grounds. Talk about a spiritual experience! I absolutely loved my day there. Magical. I really want to to go again sometime but I live quite far away.
I’m was glad to hear that the food prices were so low because I have repeatedly heard how “over the top” the prices were for the decor items in the Silos. (If they lowered those prices to be more affordable, they would still make up for it in volume.) Nice to hear about great customer service!
Thank you for sharing the footage Sarah!!! Someday I hope to get there and see the passion. I am so impressed with just the sense or feeling of being at home, the environment lends itself to. Just beautiful!
So nice you were there on a sunny warm day. I was there windy, gray, cold in late February. Yes, the grassy field area looked fun but it was so windy you couldn't sit there. I totally forgot about the restaurant....next trip. Thank you.
I previously posted a very similar comment which for some reason is not showing up so if it shows up later I apologize for making the same remarks twice. I was born and raised in Waco Texas which is a very lovely City with some beautiful neighborhoods, gorgeous parks and extremely friendly people. The area where Magnolia is located is an older part of Waco and had become a bit rundown which is why Chip and Joanna chose that area to revitalize and to help bring back downtown Waco. There are many lovely things to see in Waco like the Baylor University Campus, the lovely Cameron Park Zoo and Cameron Park, along with Lake Waco and the many gorgeous neighborhoods and homes that surround it. I would invite anyone planning a trip to Waco to Google the city and find all the places of interest and take time to explore. I am sorry you made the comment you made about Waco homes. My mother grew up in that area in the 1930s and 1940s when folks appreciated having a roof over their heads. It is my hope that no one living in one of those homes was watching your vlog.
@@countrysister700 Yes there is much to see. I was mostly prompted to comment due to the comment Sarah repeated about Waco homes. It made me sad for my hometown especially as many Wacoans can't afford the escalating home prices there.

Oh what a lovely place! My oldest daughter went to the Silos several years ago and had the opportunity to talk with Joanna's mum. My daughter said it was a wonderful experience and she loves the Gaines even more after that trip. They have given the residents of Waco some fabulous opportunities. Save my spot for the next trip!💝
I have wanted to go visit Magnolia for a while. After seeing your video, I want to go even more. Thanks for your tour, and description of this beautiful place!

Awesome video. Joanne and Chip have covered every angle for their customers. Love the family area's, when you take children shopping, sometime there is very little thought given to them. It seems like an adorable place and you obviously had a blast. I am in England and will probably never get there except in your video's. Great video X

I visited Chicago few years ago and I seen so many homeless in the streets even it was winter. In the evening we could hardly slept due to non-stop siren of ambulance and police cars. Our hotel located right in Michigan Avenue not far from American girl shop. I am Australian and seeing those numbers of homeless are very confronting and sad. We didn't feel safe walking around the city.

Hi Sarah was waiting for this video. Thank you so much for going through the gardening area. Have seen many magnolia videos but not of those areas. Everyone needs a little magnolia in their community. You highlighted so many sweet things. Someday I will get there
My gf and I visited there 3 yrs ago. Really fun. So many other nice shops right by Magnolia. Several yrs ago we drove from St Louis to the Round Top/Marburger sale. Loaded up the car for sure!
Hello Sarah (hope I spelled your name correctly), thanks for making this video back in April of this year. I enjoyed this video immensely since I am a big fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines' Fixer Upper TV Show on HGTV. Thanks for the insight, experience and the feel of what's it's like to visit the Magnolia Silos along with the Magnolia Table Restaurant. I never knew that, someone wanting to eat there would have to make online reservations 30 days in advance. Wow! It's that popular in Waco. 😳 Thanks again Sarah. 😊👋👋
This is a great little summary of Waco. It's good that you even touched on the area around Magnolia which is quite old and a lot is not yet "fixer uppered". I was born and raised in Waco, moved away for about 15 years, then moved back. It's hard to believe the transformation! It really is a site to see. Great for a day or two trip especially if you are a fan of the show.
I live in Waco and its a beautiful place... The area that you where in is actually under development ...The neighborhood has come a long way is is still being revived. Maybe check out other areas as well the next time you visit, you will love it. Great video and tfs❤
One of my favorite places on earth!!! The seed shop is my favorite on the property too! And u should have seen Waco before the Gains came to town. I went to Baylor on the 90’s and it is WAY better now lol!!
Sarah, your hair looks pretty.😍 I got to visit Magnolia a couple years ago. It was so much fun. I loved the food.😂😋👏🏻 Grabbing a cup of coffee☕️ and watching.❤️
Enjoyed walking through with you as I had been about 6 years ago Yes I know what you are saying ,it was almost unreal but I did get pics with Joanna’s mom and JD at Ironworks. It was on my bucket list and it didn’t disappoint me.
Her comments were completely unnecessary. Joanna & Chip love Waco. Why bother visiting their businesses if one is going to insult the town the Gaines love? And not everyone in Waco can afford a home renovation, but are still a part of the overall community, which, at the end of the day, is to be celebrated & not criticized.
@@twistoffate4791 I'm a Wacoan and don't take offense. Some of the arteries leading into downtown are 1940-50's blue collar homes of glass plant and similar industrial workers. They were well built but serve as homes still at a price point more affordable to for some. Face it - nobody's home town is all like Castle Heights and our other affluent neighborhoods. Another poster correctly pointed out the Market at the Silos used to be run down, filled with derelicts, an eyesore no one knew how to remedy. But God nudged a girl named Jo....
@@countrysister700 Like I said, the Gaines made a difference and brought additional commerce to Waco. But there's no point in bashing the rest of the town. Ok? Have a nice evening.
So fun visiting vicariously through you! Hoping to make it there one day myself. Also, the portions of the video of you talking, your lighting etc. is especially lovely! (As are you!) Are you doing something new? Always learning and improving, I know, but wanted to say that I noticed and brava! 💡🎥✨
Waco is a small town. People there don't care about making it to the top of the corporate ladder. What matters is FAMILY & how you treat each other with RESPECT. One doesn't need to live in a BIG HOUSE to do that.
Waco is a beautiful town. I think you missed so much that could have been seen and experienced. Cameron Park, Castle Heights, Lake Waco, Baylor University, Indian Springs Park on the River. Beautiful homes. Downtown Waco. The Suspension Bridge. You missed the good stuff!!!!!!!!
U literally named everything the tourist center names. Nevermind airport park. Woodway park. Brazos park east. Union Hall. La fiesta. Even the lake Waco spillway.
Beautiful home decor ideas Thumbs up Always 💕The person who is reading this comment, I wish you great success, health , love and happiness 💖 Thank you for inspiring me to push harder with my videos 💖
Thank you for sharing this with us I enjoyed it so much I. I also want to buy the 2 silver metal boxes that you purchased please! I have tried to find them please hep.I
We visited in summer of 2021 and we were disappointed. Was very crowded. Not much to shop at. One item I liked was a small 6 inch plain ordinary flower pot and it was $31 dollars so that didn't leave with us. Was a big line waiting to get in the bakery. The "Seed" store didn't have any seeds at all. There is no parking lot so you have to park wherever you can.
The restaurant looks very typical southern California style to me. It became a staple Mediterranean style that was borrowed from China and Middle East - then used in other places I've read.
I enjoy watching your videos but I was a little disappointed by your comments about the area around the silos. It is just an older part of town that is likely being refurbished because of the Silos. There is nothing wrong with an older town, lots of history and character
Agreed. I know the Gaines would hate to hear it said that the town was a stark contrast to the work they have done and unkind judgments being made about their neighbors. There is so much more to Waco than what can be seen in one short trip and, while the progress seen as a result of the Gaines’ work is beneficial and impressive, some of the folks in those little neighborhoods have been priced out of affording anything else. I felt for those living on the streets shown if they happen to watch your video, which they might do since it is about their town.
Waco is actually a really great and beautiful place. The Silos are in an older area of Waco that do need to be renovated. The "Fixer Upper" homes that Chip & Joanna do typically end up matching the neighborhoods where they are done and do not typically "stick out". I love what they have done for the town but living here, I also don't love what they have done. Everyone is so fascinated with the show that many end up moving here. Our home appraisal values go up 25-55% each year! We don't make the money that Chip and Jo do so that type of increase really hurts. And if you live here, you don't go near the Silos.
You are correct! Waco is a beautiful and great place in our state. However, I really believe that folks are just moving in droves to our state, not just Waco. Appraisal values for Texas homes is on the rise overall. That’s all 😊
Can you please help me find or tell me the name of the boxes you bought the silver ones I had looked and I can’t find them on their site I would like to buy them too! I love your videos they are so enjoyable and I have learned so much from you thank you so much! I want to go there looks like a such an enjoyable place!
If you'll recall the Elite was sitting there empty after multiple restaurant owners failed to make a go of it. Even the Citranos found it with too many problems and too risky to try. It took a massive investment of money to reno and get it going. They did in fact keep as much of the original features and flavor as possible working with agencies concerned with that issue. The "old" Elite was no longer charming and Wacoans didn't do anything to save it but this family thankfully did.
Omg, loveling how people put up tips for visiting this palce. Its not a very big place, so its impossible not see and do everything there is to do. But thanks.and each person that posts a video thinks they're the first one tondo so, and they think they will teach you something thenothers haven't. Lol wow
I live in Waco & have all my life. Ur unkind comments about Waco offend me. Magnolia has revitalized our downtown area but with great input from the city coffers. Locals know where to purchase “their products” elsewhere for reasonable prices. Waco has a lot to offer other than Magnolia. I would suggest visitors experience all Waco has to offer.
Magnolia etc is great but the area is not reflective of our city if you’re looking for beautiful neighborhoods. Hope you were able to visit other areas. Hope you enjoyed your visit to our “beautiful” city.
Sarah, I enjoyed your vlog about Magnolia Silos, but I think somebody in Waco got a bee in their bonnets with all their comments about your unkind remarks. I personally didn’t find them offensive, but I understand many of the locals resent the impact of the Gaines’s (change is hard). IMHO, their Uber defensive attitude doesn’t reflect much Texas hospitality. You didn’t give us many tips other than getting early dining reservations. Did you find the merch in the gift shop & home store expensive & made in China quality? Thanks.
For the amount of vitriol that people spout these days, it is surprising to me that they are so thin-skinned when they feel that comments are directed at them in some way. I watched the video again to see if I missed something. You made observations and provided a moment in time during your visit. Any town in America is going to have modest homes to extravagant homes. It's not a put-down, it's reality. Sarah shares a wealth of knowledge and her experiences. I appreciate her video coverage of the Texas visit.
As someone who lives in Waco, I wanna say DO NOT go to Magnolia. Instead, visit small local businesses such as Celestial Sisters, Skellington Curiosities, or Fabled Books. The farmers market is also great. These are people who actually need your money. We hate magnolia here. They don’t treat their employees with respect and they’re driving up the prices on housing. They’ve gentrified the downtown as well. Additionally it was extremely rude of you to say those things about our town. Don’t come here if you can’t respect the work we do.
@@SheHoldsDearly that wasn’t areal apology. That was you justifying saying bad things about people’s homes and lives. That isn’t okay and you need to learn to do better.
As someone who lived in a tourist town for ten years,( Vermont ski area) the small business owners relied on the tourists and the bigger things that drew them there. ( our business included). There were a lot of small woolen mills by the river and when polyester became a big hit😵💫 in the 1970’s, the little towns shriveled up,making Vermont one of the poorest states in the nation. So, was it annoying to try to get groceries on the weekend when the population went from 2000 to 20,000? Absolutely, but the skiers were “our bread and butter” and we were grateful. ( and we learned to get groceries on Wednesday and enjoy our weekends at home)
Agreed. I learned a good lesson as a child. We were on vacation & dove through a small town, much like the ones my parents grew up in. I commented on a shabby house & said I was glad to live in our house. My dad told me that that house may be all that family could afford, and that they were rightfully relieved & proud to have a roof over their heads. I suddenly understood. His point was crystal clear.
Hi Peggy, I'm sorry that was how my statements came across, it certainly wasn't my intention! As this was a vlog style video, I mentioned it more to show the contrast between the Silos and the surrounding neighborhoods (which look much like my own town in WA), and not as a judgement against the houses themselves, and certainly not the people living in them.
I do not understand the appeal. I'm not bashing them but all they've brought is construction and congestion. I've basically lived in Waco my whole life and wish this was in a different town.
That customer service vibe is "Texas" hospitality. When we moved from Virginia to Texas it overwhelmed us how awesome Texas people are ❤️❤️

I never knew that, someone wanting to eat there would have to make online reservations 30 days in advance. Wow! It's that popular in Waco. 😳
Thanks again Sarah.
Thank you for sharing this! Is a dream of mine to go someday soon... this was very helpful!
Looking forward to next week 🇬🇧
Texans are so friendly and hospitable ❤️
I live in Waco and its a beautiful place... The area that you where in is actually under development ...The neighborhood has come a long way is is still being revived. Maybe check out other areas as well the next time you visit, you will love it. Great video and tfs❤
I certainly plan to visit some of the other great Waco spots next time I'm in town!
One of my favorite places on earth!!! The seed shop is my favorite on the property too! And u should have seen Waco before the Gains came to town. I went to Baylor on the 90’s and it is WAY better now lol!!
Great video, thanks for sharing!!
Sarah, your hair looks pretty.😍 I got to visit Magnolia a couple years ago. It was so much fun. I loved the food.😂😋👏🏻 Grabbing a cup of coffee☕️ and watching.❤️
Very fun, thank you for the tips, muchly appreciated. I hope someday. Blessings.
Enjoyed walking through with you as I had been about 6 years ago Yes I know what you are saying ,it was almost unreal but I did get pics with Joanna’s mom and JD at Ironworks. It was on my bucket list and it didn’t disappoint me.
On my bucket list!!! Enjoyed the 3 part series!!
I really enjoyed this video but were the negative comments about the town of Waco necessary?
Please, see my statement in the description.
I wish they had is a building with displays from their Fixer Upper show. The rest of it is inspiring and Uber creative. Smiles...
Ooooh, what a cool idea! Like a museum!
Thank you for sharing! I've always wanted to go there!
So fun visiting vicariously through you! Hoping to make it there one day myself. Also, the portions of the video of you talking, your lighting etc. is especially lovely! (As are you!) Are you doing something new? Always learning and improving, I know, but wanted to say that I noticed and brava! 💡🎥✨
The story on the church was on a u tube channel and it was so good look it up youll love it!!🥰
I would love to go there! Thanks for sharing!
This is a great video of overviews thank you for sharing your trip💛
As someone who is born and raised in Waco maybe keep some of those comments about our town to yourself :)
Please, see my statement in the description.
I would love to go back with you sometime! To the Silos.
She sure did , so much more to Waco than just magnolia.
Thank you for sharing some ideas, I plan on being back and hope to hit more of these local spots you mentioned!
U literally named everything the tourist center names. Nevermind airport park. Woodway park. Brazos park east. Union Hall. La fiesta. Even the lake Waco spillway.
Enjoyed the antique maul the best. Magnolia place was nice.
We visited in January with no reservations and only a ten min wait, lovely time there
Beautiful home decor ideas Thumbs up Always 💕The person who is reading this comment, I wish you great success, health , love and happiness 💖 Thank you for inspiring me to push harder with my videos 💖
Hi there.. love the video! I was wondering.. what type of music do they play at the Magnolia stores?
West and a north Waco is where all of the nice areas are located. You were in the older, low income areas.
Thank you for sharing this with us I enjoyed it so much I. I also want to buy the 2 silver metal boxes that you purchased please! I have tried to find them please hep.I
Thank you so much for sharing this.
Please, see my statement in the description.
Please, see my statement in the description.
That’s all 😊
Please, see my statement in the description.
Did you go to the Little Shop on Bosque? That was Joanna’s original shop. Great deals there.
Can you please help me find or tell me the name of the boxes you bought the silver ones I had looked and I can’t find them on their site I would like to buy them too! I love your videos they are so enjoyable and I have learned so much from you thank you so much! I want to go there looks like a such an enjoyable place!
I live in Waco and the magnolia table took over our historic restaurant Elite, as well they taken over Waco chip n Diane
In my much younger days my friends and I sometimes hung out at the Elite. It was historic and I wish the had preserved some of its original charm.
Great video!👍
That church! 🤩🤍
Magnolia on my bucket list to visit
Omg, loveling how people put up tips for visiting this palce. Its not a very big place, so its impossible not see and do everything there is to do. But thanks.and each person that posts a video thinks they're the first one tondo so, and they think they will teach you something thenothers haven't. Lol wow
Thx so much!
Please, see my statement in the description.
Magnolia etc is great but the area is not reflective of our city if you’re looking for beautiful neighborhoods. Hope you were able to visit other areas. Hope you enjoyed your visit to our “beautiful” city.
I plan on being back and look forward to getting to see even more of your town! :)
Are those little green houses sold in kit form?
I'm not sure what you are referring to, was it something you saw in a Magnolia store. You could check online for a green house, if so.
Thanks for sharing. Raising the bar in business dealings is one reason Chick Fila is so poplar.
We tried visiting a couple years ago and gave up due to severe lack of parking. It was a mess.
I want to go!
This is funny to watch cause I live here and casually go to magnolia to study
Sarah, I enjoyed your vlog about Magnolia Silos, but I think somebody in Waco got a bee in their bonnets with all their comments about your unkind remarks. I personally didn’t find them offensive, but I understand many of the locals resent the impact of the Gaines’s (change is hard). IMHO, their Uber defensive attitude doesn’t reflect much Texas hospitality. You didn’t give us many tips other than getting early dining reservations. Did you find the merch in the gift shop & home store expensive & made in China quality? Thanks.
Thank you for this perspective. I thought the prices for fine and I think everything I bought was made in the USA, so there’s that.
They bought a local landmark and restyled it into the Magnolia Table.
Look like normal houses to me wtf are they suppose to look like, million dollar houses?
Please, see my statement in the description.
Please, see my statement in the description.
I’ve spent a lifetime in Waco and we are SO much more than The Silos or Chip & Jo …. 😞
I'm sure of that! Looking forward to seeing more of Waco next time I come to visit. :)
Your pretentious attitude toward the "houses" in Waco was a major turn off.
As this was a vlog style video, I mentioned it more to show the contrast between the Silos and the surrounding neighborhoods (which look much like my own town in WA), and not as a judgement against the houses themselves, and certainly not the people living in them.
tytyty
I do not understand the appeal. I'm not bashing them but all they've brought is construction and congestion. I've basically lived in Waco my whole life and wish this was in a different town.
