    Jay I am making it my goal to be non dependent on auto key codes by this time next year. That lishi work is amazing! Your videos are by far some of the best Locksmith content on UA-cam. Thanks for your time!

    Great Video. I like your Lishi work. I bought a Toyota 2-1 to dig into the trunk lock on my daughter's Corolla, then she wrote off her car a week ago. Now I have a pick without a car to practice on 🤣🤣. I gotta make me a jamb marker.

    Wow, new construction and the wall is already cracked. Glad to see you use the jamb marker, I thought it was a good idea and picked one up but wondered if it was something other people actually used. Your Lishi skills are awesome, thanks for showing and explaining, including the wiggles 😁 I hope the school closures were just false alarms 😬

      "New construction" just means they built it way to fast and didn't care much around here. On new lock installs with a 1" hole, I can't see why anyone wouldn't use a jamb marker, it's the same as using lipstick or a paint marker, just a bit more accurate and less mess.

    Great video locksny, I just learnt a heap of things. Firstly so many different key fobs requiring different things to do to make them go. Never seen the port thingy in a glovebox before. That jamb marker, now that's a clever idea do you buy them or make them. If you make them could you give us a little explanation next time you use one on video at how you knocked one up, Excellent skills with the lishi too. cheers mate, thanks for this video

      Look up how to do a fresh deadbolt or knob lock install. The tool he used marks the center of the hole on the door. Which allows you to transfer the same hole for the strike on the door jamb. You could also use the 1” hole barrel drill bit to make the door jamb mark.

    • @locksny
      @locksny  2 роки тому +1

      Take a 1" wood dowel, find a nail, drill a hole slightly smaller then the nail, cut the head off and drive it in head side first and sharpen the point if you need to. I will show it the next door I do so you can see how simple it's made. You can also buy them in plastic.
      The car key business is not a cheap one with the inventory you need to stock. Cheers PW

      @@locksny thanks for explaining how to make one. As an ex carpenter I used to do a lock install every so often and would use templates from the packet or if none I’d just line it up and use measurements or just eye it and hope. Good to know this time saving tip. Appreciate you showing this in your video and taking the time to explain how to make one. I’m not the sort to go for a plastic alternative when I have a wood option. The auto locksmith here in Oz is becoming a specialty on its own. Not many locksmiths here that do residential and commercial do auto, those locky’s that are the jack of all are a rarity here now. As you say just the costs of holding all that different stock these days as well as the different tech I have seen you and PJ use would be quite prohibitive to a newbie starting out on their own. Not to mention all the licences you have to fork out each year for access to the tech also makes the startup costs for an auto locky prohibitively. Have a great weekend ahead. Cheers
