Can’t compare Priest and Swerve. Priest is gonna get a storyline and will wrestle Drew, Punk or Gunther while Swerve can’t get a rematch with Joe.
@reginaldshort8486 there are some parellels between the two. I agree Priest is being setup for a prominent storyline, but he is going into Clash at the Castle very much the underdog against Drew McIntyre, much the same way Swerve is going in the underdog against Ospreay. And you can argue, both are behind the top storyline on TV, for Priest, he is behind Liv Morgan/Dominik and Swerve is behind The Elite imo.
@@thewrestlingoldhead no to all of that. Priest will main event 1 night of WM while Swerve is wrestling low card guys like Nick Wayne and he’ll eventually lose to Okada, Osprey or MJF in the next 90 days ending an unimpressive title run.
@@reginaldshort8486 with TK's track record, I cant see Swerve in the ring with Okada or MJF because his head would explode trying to come up with a winner.

I started watching wrestling again earlier this year when I saw Adam Copeland main event dynamite against Minoru Suzuki but on the same episode I saw Swerve go up against Jeff Hardy and I was immediately captivated by his energy and got immediately invested in his title chase. An investment that paid off when he finally actually won the belt at Dynasty!
While I do agree his title run has been secondary to the main storyline running in AEW I don’t think it has to stay that way, swerve did a lot of horrible things as a heel and the baby face swerve doesn’t necessarily have to make amends with his past, but I think there’s potential for him to constantly confront his former allies and enemies with a storyline that should eventually culminate with him either taking down the elite, having a screw job orchestrated by the elite, or having an intense personal feud with a returning Keith Lee before dropping the belt to the next mega babyface/heel that’s coming up
Personally I don’t want to see someone who’s already held the belt hold it again this year unless it’s Hangman finishing his feud with Swerve and they play hot potato with it for a couple of PPV’s
@Demonatared Its so funny you bring up Keith Lee, I brought this up in a question posed to Disco Inferno and Konnan. Disco was opposed to Keith Lee in a title match, which I can understand based on his absence. But, talk about a story. This is what AEW is in need of. Youve got Hangman Page and Keith Lee who were fan favorites, now made to look like villains because that fans chose Swerve Strickland, those are stories that create emotional investment. I love this comment, your comment is one of the reasons why I started a youtube channel, because it sparks thoughts of where to go next for storylines, it makes wrestling more fun! I hope to hear from you on other topics in the future!
What about a time limit draw at Forbidden Door and Ospreay wins King of Hart cup?

@@CINEMATICWRESTLING He is, but it is fair to say that Will Ospreay is favored over Swerve at Forbidden Door. So, Swerve winning would boost his title reign considerably. It might even turn the fans against him and AEW needs a heel right now.

I am writing this comment right after watching Dynamite (6/5/2024)... Swerve is absolutely being booked the right way since Double or Nothing. He is main-eventing Forbidden Door, doing interviews left, right, and center, and doing great promo work on Dynamite as well. Whatever criticism you have of AEW, booking Swerve lately is not one of them. I'm invested in him as a champion, and I think Tony Khan is almost surely booking him to win against Ospreay.
His first several appearances after winning the belt he got laid out for minutes on end while guys did a promo on his back. He's played second fiddle to Jungle Boy. A couple weeks ago a midcarder goon - Luchasaurus - kicked out of Swerve's finish. His own faction turned on him and made him look like an absolute idiot.
His booking has been atrocious.

I specifically said "since Double or Nothing", my comment had nothing with how he was booked before that (I felt it was underwhelming, but not the worst thing ever). Christian got the better of him at first, so what? A heel has to get some heat before the big PPV match, isn't that the case in every feud since the inception of wrestling? I hate to bring up the WWE comparisons because it invites toxicity, but Cody Rhodes was tricked by AJ Styles, looked incredibly gullible in that segment, but nobody seemed to have an issue with that, and that's the most protected champion in all of wrestling at the moment. Luchasaurus kicking out of the finish was not the right approach, I'll grant you that. The match was great up until that moment. This is similar to when Cody does his finish 3 times to beat every opponent these days, it just rubs me the wrong way. "Played second fiddle to Jungle Boy" how so? "Midcarder goon" I don't believe that, just because he didn't main event a particular dynamite doesn't make him a mid-carder. As for his own faction turning on him, it's a heel faction! Swerve goes babyface of course the entire entourage won't turn babyface with him, this happens all the time in wrestling why are we acting like this is completely out of the ordinary? Besides, this happened during the feud with Christian, and again my comment was on how Swerve was being booked AFTER Double or Nothing.

@@vilelucaI agree, he hasn't been treated like a champion should. Even his celebration was postponed til Collision. TK is not a booker. Money doesn't magically give Tony Khan the talent to book professional wrestling. It's very obvious. This a a passion hobby for Tony. If he ever discovers pussy, he might let professional bookers do what needs to be done with this failing promotion.
This all has to lead to a Swerve Strickland heel turn and using tactics to cheat to beat Ospreay leading into All In where he will most certainly be boo'd at Wembley Stadium.
@@thewrestlingoldhead This is definitely a possibility. However, last year they did pull off a babyface vs babyface situation between MJF and Adam Cole. It worked, so I won't be surprised if they book Swerve vs Danielson or Ospreay as such. I just hope that whatever the booking is it doesn't feel forced. I don't want Swerve to suddenly act heelish just because he's facing Ospreay at Wembley. The transition to a heel, if it happens, has to make sense. Either way, it's a breath of fresh air to be invested in AEW storylines again, there's a handful happening at the moment that I'm really interested in, Swerve's title reign being one of them.
