I bought the first version (2014) of this tablet/netbook in 2015, with 64G on chip SSD, brand new from local retailer. It was very cheap (about €280). Later upgraded its op system to windows 10. It was perfect. It's IPS screen is beautiful with brilliant, vivid colors. And regardless the 2 GB RAM, it was always fast. I watched movies on it, browsed the Internet, wrote emails. It was very convenient during flights. One of my best purchases. I love it. Or loved it.After 5 years of usage its display is broken. RIP. But overall I am content with this product. I would buy it again.

Yes, windows has learned from the Vista debacle & W10 is much better at working with less resources & better than android now. Many windows fans are still using nokia lumias (1gb ram) and getting faster browser speeds than androids with twice the ram.
saw your video... very good... there are 2 different models on market of this. one is upgradable with an already built-in sata 2.5" disk (different bottom chassis of keyboard unit), the other model (the one you have) isn't upgradable.

Yes, the 10E has the extra storage & the IPS display/Google glass. Still many of both types around in perfect condition, after 7+ years. Hardly garbage!
i got this a few years ago when i was 10 as a christmas gift. it worked just fine. Now i just need to wipe the harddrive and to do that i need to remove it.
this device is meant to be low on spec, as you have said this is not a laptop or desktop pc this is a tablet ... this device is good for those who just use it for web browsing or ms office work .. not for gaming or heavy works .. yes you can not upgrade it .. and i think you cant even upgrade the ram... i have a laptop and this tablet too and this tablet is very useful when i do not want to carry extra weight and just wanna do simple work like powerpoint presentation

Great information! I was trying to upgrade this "tablet" thinking it had space for an ssd, for traveling, but is the same model you demonstrated. I am glad i bought a decent laptop.
For me the acer switch 11 works perfectly. You have to consider that this is a tablet you can work for a very long time because it has a atom processor and SD-drive. Including a hard drive would spoil that property. The SD memory is slower but at least I can use this device during long train rides. At tip is to remove the windows installation files and the old windows installations and there is plenty of space to write lengthy reports including pictures. If more memory is needed you can install 64 GB, 80Mb/s SD card for 25 Euro.
With a little bit of miracle my local PC Store manage to do not only upgrade the storage they also added more memory from 4gb to 16gb and upgraded the processor to an i5 problem is its more heavier Edit: Mine is actually an 11 so i think that's not applicable to the 10
The person who gets benefit from this is not going to care about the SSD or the upgrades, they want the portability and the switching. The fact the tablet even opens up as easy as it does is a glowing recommendation for it by my opinion, because the other tablets absolutely do not do it.
Yes, I totally understand the aversion to not being able to upgrade / swap out - that's what I would expect a good IT person/electronics repairer to say - but in practice this is great. In my experience laptops are just not truly portable unfortunately, 'transformers' are just the right weight, & the tablet is even better for flexibility & collaboration. And they've outlasted many surface tablets from the same era, due mostly to longer battery life.
Great tablet/PC for my work as an author writing anywhere, very well made too, not all PC users want your full desktop max power, might want to consider that in future before you rant on unprofessionally about 'garbage' just because it doesn't do what you want.
lmao this device was way ahead of it's time, however they limited the crap out of it. 1. They have a locked down UEFI so you need to install Windows 8 X32 with 32 bit EFI loader ( must be inside or no boot) 2. Need to disable secure boot, crazy locked down 3. limited ram 4. Limited Hardrive However this thing lasts a full 7 and a half hours even after 4 years. I use this as a VNC front end to a bunch of Servers here and this thing is just genius because I can bring the tablet and used it as a full tablet while still allowing USB hub with keyboard and mouse in case I want. It is just Acer was silly as this product with a proper full BIOS/UEFI combo, SSD port, Ram slots would of been a killer product. I still use this damn thing everyday lol.
This isn't supposed to be a powerpack machine it's a convertible for light tasks,mainly for students And people who travel a lot.I'm gonna get myself one(student) for light tasks as I don't want to invest much into an expensive laptop right now,plus having a tablet is also quite handy :D
This tablet is a 64bit machine but 32bit boot. I am using the internal 32Gb memory for the main OS (in my case 64bit MX Linux) with a 128Gb micro SD card as /home folder; ie 160Gb potential storage. The internal ram can not be upgraded from 2Gb but MX Linux is very light weight.

By the way I just updated it to Windows 10 and works better now. Side note: This netbook cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 but Microsoft is supporting Windows for at least 4 more years so there is plenty of time to save to get a new netbook or tablet if necessary.
How do you get the back cover off without smashing it and making it never clip in again? I have been given two of these to repair and they've both been pried open and the 4 screw standoffs have been ripped off by some gorilla and the back keeps falling off on its own now
On the 11inch version with the i3 processor you can replace the M2 ssd bij a bigger one, such a pity you can't change the memorysize. It's 4GB and you have to deal with it. On the base station you can add an extra drive.

After 4-5 years of usage this is a common problem of the early model. The display cannot be replaced, I think. It is glued very strongly to the plastic frame of the machine. It's a pitty, I loved my little machine. Mine has an 1200x800 LG display inside of it. I tried to remove it, without success.

You need to open the screen and pry the battery jack from the Motherboard and wait for 10 seconds. Re-plug the jack and turn the power on. Its a bug in this laptop. I have faced the same problem many times but I have to carry spurge to tear down the cover whenever I encounter it.
I have this Netbook and they weren't manufactured for productivity they were just made for watching videos online using the internet emailing and stuff like that just like a tablet and it is great for that I also knew that you could not update the hard drive and yes the hard drive is very small however I put in a 256 gb. mini SD card and put a lot of stuff on that this Netbook is not garbage it is one of the better made for portable usage tablets like an iPad or a Samsung Android tablet which I have this unit is just as good as those however when I do any productive work I use much bigger much better laptops so again this Netbook (hence the term) was not made to produce movies or edit things or do any kind of productivity on it is just like a Samsung Android tablet for an iPad simple use only.

Why did you take it apart and then say you cannot upgrade it? lol. Also you state you can build a better machine Blah Blah Blah. But this is a ultra portable netbook, not a desktop. Poor comparison there.
I don't have access to this device anymore. If memory serves right, with devices with embeded storage, its difficult to troubleshoot the storage component, which is one of the negatives of this type of device. You would need to boot into BIOS/UEFI and try to see if you can spot the boot device physically, if yes, then maybe just the boot sector is corrupted and it may be fixed by rebuilding the BCD (google is your friend). Sometimes the boot device may have been unselected, so you just need to reselect it or rest the BIOS to default. If you can't see the device in you boot device, then its possible that the storage chip is damaged, in which case a "CHKDSK" command from Command Pompt. may help to a certain extend (again google is your friend). If that fails, then I'm afraid you are looking a t a failed storage device, and would need replacing, if you can find someone to do that for reasonable price, unless of course there is something else wrong with your motherboard. There could be other issues. Sorry but I can't say for sure without accessing the device physically and troubleshooting. This may help to find you storage device or at least eliminate possibilities, although its for a laptop the principle is the same: No Bootable Device Insert Boot Disk And Press Any Key - Easy Troubleshoot & Recommended Fix ua-cam.com/video/4TZUnW-s7w8/v-deo.html

Yes, they're great, and windows 10 works perfectly on them. The magnetic attachment to the keyboard was also a fairly new thing at the time, I think.

Where is the hard drive of this thing?
It doesn't have one, the storage is a soldered on component, and the computer only allows for an additional SD card.

They run Windows 10 fine (not 11 due to hardware limitations) & I just installed office 2019 offline (over 4Gb). Plenty of space left ;)

Use a 256gb SD card and change the install location to the SD card and upgrade the ram by using virtual memory
Virtual memory uses the disk, which is tremendously slower than RAM.
Luckily I didn't buy one. I got it for free. xD Still pretty useless though.
