Every one of us has heard and recited this verse innumerous time. This verse is the most revered shalok used to glorify the embodiment of Guru Tattav. Our teachers, elders, friends and even our Gurus have quoted it many a times. I can say this is the most famous verse used in context of a Guru. One of the reasons for its rampant use is, this verse is quite self explanatory and other is that it can be pronounced easily as compared to others Sanskrit verses. You may have heard or read meaning of this verse but this guru poornima we got to know the most accurate and precise meaning. Sri Pundik Goswami ji Maharaj who leaves his listeners spellbound with his divine explanations on glorious Hari Lila and is miraculous in rendering lengthy phrases flawlessly, expounded this verse in most unequivocal and definite way.
Guru Brahma - Brahma ji is associated with creation and he has four heads pointed to four cardinal directions. Guru takes responsibility of creating your spiritual world and just like Brahma ji Guru provides or creates four major things in one’s life - Mantra(prayer), Granth( scripture), Isht(Supreme personality of God head), Dham (place where Lord resides) .
Guru Vishnu - Vishnu ji protects and maintains the universe with his four hands similarly a true Guru maintains our spiritual world with four efforts - Ashirwaad (Blessings), Hari katha (Words of wisdom), Bhajan (way of showing gratitude towards supreme) and by imparting Prasad (love and happiness)
Guru Maheswra- Shiva ji is known to be the destroyer and when he assumes this form he has five heads. Guru also brings five destructions or changes to make our advancement in spiritual life- Vikaaro ka destruction (changes of our disorders), changes in our Aakar (mind set), annihilation of our bad character, changes in our behavior and extinction of our material responsibilities.
Guru Pram Brahm - Guru is Parm brahm as he is Omni present though he may not be available physically but he is always there in prayers, scriptures, and blessings, in gratitude, in love, in changes and in the supreme personality of God.
गुरोर् विष्णु-
चार हाथ। हाथ से विष्णु संरक्षण करते हैं,गुरु भी चार चीजों से आध्यात्मिक जगत का संरक्षण करते हैं।
पहला हाथ आशीर्वाद-
कोई माने न माने, दम उसमें भी होता है। और हम किसी संत के पास लेने क्या जाते हैं?आशीर्वाद। और एक बात कहूँ,आशीर्वाद पूजा से नहीं मिलता, आशीर्वाद सेवा से मिलता है। पूजा करके कोई आशीर्वाद नहीं दे सकता। भगवान भी नहीं देगा। पूजा से वरदान मिल सकता है,सेवा से आशीर्वाद मिल सकता है। वरदान विफल हो,सकता है। हिरण्यकश्यपु से लेकर रावण तक का हुआ है पर आशीर्वाद सुफल हो सकता है। सबसे पहले गुरु आशीर्वाद देता है।
जिसके पास आशीर्वाद देने की सामर्थ्य है। देगा वही, जिसको मिला हो। जो कमाया ही नहीं,वो देगा क्या? सेवा करने की वो मेवा आशीर्वाद ही है।मेवा इकट्ठी होगी तभी तो बटेगी। एक हाथ आशीर्वाद है।
दूसरा हाथ वचन है-
आशीर्वाद अप्रत्यक्ष हो सकता है,प्रवचन अप्रत्यक्ष नहीं हो है। आशीर्वाद अप्रत्यक्ष भी हो सकता है। गुरु महाराज अपने धाम में विराजकर भी आशीर्वाद दे सकते हैं। पूर्वज पितर अपने लोक में बैठकर भी अपना आशीर्वाद दे सकते हैं। आशीर्वाद अप्रत्यक्ष भी हो सकता है पर वचन तो अप्रत्यक्ष भी होगा।
उपदेश,आदेश,मंगलानुशासन,वचन, प्रवचन और ये सबको एक साथ बोलना हो तो हरिकथा। गुरु आशीर्वाद देता है,गुरु वचन देता है। वचन से मतलब उपदेश देता है,शबद देता है। गुरु सबसे पहले आशीर्वाद से संरक्षण करता है संरक्षण मतलब maintenance.
maintenance पहले आशीर्वाद से होता है,कुछ न बने तो सद्गुरु का आशीर्वाद बन जाता है। कई बार गुरु का वचन बन जाता है।
तीसरी चीज संरक्षण-
गुरु संरक्षण करता है,भजन से। जिसका भजन प्रबल है वो आपका maintenance,आपके आध्यात्मिक जगत का संरक्षण कर सकता है। आशीर्वाद,वचन और भजन ये तीनों अलग चीजें अलग हैं।
जो प्राप्त न हो, उसे प्राप्त होने की ताकत देना,उसे प्राप्त करने की ताकत देना आशीर्वाद है। बड़ी बड़ी जगह भागवत जी में इसका वर्णन है। कई कई जगह,लक्ष्मीवान भव, कई कई है पुत्रवान भव और वो तो कोईकोई है जो कृष्णदास भव॥ उपनिषद ने आशीर्वाद दिया- अभ्युदयवान भव, निश्रेयशवान भव ये उपनिषद के आशीर्वाद हैं। अयोग्यता को योग्य बनाने की प्रार्थना ही आशीर्वाद है। जो नहीं है उसे पाने की प्रार्थना करना आशीर्वाद है।
उस पाने का मार्ग दर्शन करना,कथा है। पाया कैसे जाएगा?उसका रास्ता दिखाना कथा है। और और उसे पाने की ताकत देना भजन है। आशीर्वाद, प्रवचन,भजन और अंतिम चीज,गुरु क्या देता है?
प्रसाद-
अंतिम चीज,गुरु प्रसाद देता है। ये चार ही चीज मिलेंगी गुरु के पास। प्रसाद मिल जाएगा। ले कुलिया ले जा। कुलिया का मतलब,महाप्रभु को ले जा। ऊपर से गेरुआ और भीतर से सफेदा। सन्यासी के वेश में गौरांगी श्रीराधिका और श्यामसुन्दर विराजमान हैं। कुलिया ले जा। प्रसाद ले जा।
प्रसाद का मतलब प्रसन्नता ले जा। प्रसादस्तु प्रसन्नता॥
