This song absolutely crushes! Can you imagine making music this good and people only remembering you for a hairdo. Paul Reynolds is up there with the greats.
How this was only a B track is totally beyond me. In my opinion its one of their all time classics. Class lead guitar 🎸 classic bass, classic drums and that spine tingling classic seagull riff on the synth. CLASSIC!
I'm walking over quicksand Stop talking, holding my hand I'm circling to a new low Shout loud and let the world know I'm sailing on the jetstream Like walking through an old dream Have you ever been down? You should take a look at my life I've been living in the city I could let you look at my miles Have you ever been down? Yeah well take a look at my life Have you ever been down? Just take a look at my life...
Can you imaging a B side this good ? AFOS on the edge of prog rock with their distinctive new wave sound... wow, This should have been on the Listen album. Excellent, I'm glad I still have my 12'' vinyl of Transfer Affection :-)))
Quicksand never was on the vinyl pressing of the Listen album. However it was on the cassette release as well as "Rosenmontag" and "Last Flight of Youri Gagarin", those 3 songs complete the "3 extra tracks bonus" on cassette.
Why in the world is this _A Flock of Seagulls_ track not available on the Amazon Music app? They are usually pretty good at being completists. It's such a great tune!!!
I got to see the original band at the HoB in New Orleans for the Bands Reunited tour. They still jammed and were very loud! Wish they would get back together to make new music.
They have, Ascension got released a year ago. It's re-recordings of their older hits with an orchestra added, sounds amazing. A completely new album isn't off the table, but Mike Score will finish a second solo album first
I was there too! I think it was July 2004. I have a picture of me and Frank somewhere. Those guys played like they did 20 years prior. One of my all-time favorite shows.
Bit too heavy/prog rock-ish for my liking. I personally prefer their lighter and poppier tunes. Sorry but heavy metal and hard rock are my least favourite genres of music. Noticing a pattern here. Hostility towards songs like I Ran, Wishing and Space Age Love Song…those songs are derided as mainstream at best, and effeminate and “gay” at worst. Which is a ridiculous attitude to have.
This is my favorite band from Liverpool.
Paul Reynolds un dios de la guitarra
This song absolutely crushes! Can you imagine making music this good and people only remembering you for a hairdo. Paul Reynolds is up there with the greats.
No... This song is like anything I've heard. Indescribable. how did it not blow up the radio back in the day?
It's very dark... It's got nine inch nails over tones.
It's a scandal!!!
WOW Frank did an amazing job with the bass
I just started studying this era, but I'm pretty sure this is one of the greatest New Wave bands of all time.
Great song! Maudsley's bass up in the mix is excellent but this is a vehicle for Paul Reynolds' guitar: big chords, slides, harmonics...just so good.
Im just listening to this again but with new earphones. That bass! 😎🖤
Their best song for sure! Those guys were musical geniuses!
The entire sci-fi vibe to the album Listen is mesmerizing.
This album was and still is AMAZING
Paul Reynolds guitar on this is stunning soooooo good!
How this was only a B track is totally beyond me. In my opinion its one of their all time classics. Class lead guitar 🎸 classic bass, classic drums and that spine tingling classic seagull riff on the synth. CLASSIC!
Yeah I don't get it. In my opinion, this is their best song. Maybe because it has such a dark broody sound to it?
this song still blows me away today. def my fave AFOS song.
Blow my mind always, love so much this song, the sound, Reynolds guitar🙌🙌🙌
I'm walking over quicksand
Stop talking, holding my hand
I'm circling to a new low
Shout loud and let the world know
I'm sailing on the jetstream
Like walking through an old dream
Have you ever been down?
You should take a look at my life
I've been living in the city
I could let you look at my miles
Have you ever been down?
Yeah well take a look at my life
Have you ever been down?
Just take a look at my life...
Good lord! How did this song not rip apart the airwaves? First time I've ever heard it. What an amazing song!!!
Same! When I heard this recently, I wondered how I missed this amazing track for so long. Feels like it could open an iconic 80’s action film...
makes you wonder how many other hidden jams there are out there
@@video.treasures No doubt!
Sound effects are badass
Quicksand Was A Flock of Seagulls most darkest track
Love the Base Lines in this song...strong and powerful.
Great bass solo!!!
And that bass tho..
Can you imaging a B side this good ? AFOS on the edge of prog rock with their distinctive new wave sound... wow, This should have been on the Listen album. Excellent, I'm glad I still have my 12'' vinyl of Transfer Affection :-)))
It's an extra track on later pressings of Listen 😎
Quicksand never was on the vinyl pressing of the Listen album.

I like the originality of darkness of this song.
Incredible guitar work. Haunting vocals. Under appreciated gem.
The 80s is my favorite decade. I love the music, the movies, and the fashion. 😍❤!!
Great song. I listen to it and I realize I'm still 19, even 33 years later.
François Hubert When this album came out I was 17 and when listen to FOS I’m that teenager again ah to be young again
You are still 19, in part. You’re every age you’ve ever been up until now. It’s all still part of you.
A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS SOUNDING ULTRA OUTSTANDING!!, the dj
Sounds a little like Blue Oyster Cult meets The Cars. Pretty heavy sound for the Flock. Cool tune!
Super strong Gary Numan/Tubeway Army "Are 'Friends' Electric?" vibe here.
The way to listen to this tune is with BOSE headset. I wish there was a time machine. Long live the 80's
Such a *_BADASS_* song. *_CLASSIC A.F.O.S. RULES..._*
master piece of new wave style 80 perfect
Brilliant track. Amazing sound.
this band is soo eipic.
Volume has to be 11+
One of the best songs to play if you have big woofers.
rosenmontag= red monday. Great Band many memories of the early 80's. Guitar work is amazing too.
I love you very much AFOS , so much a part of me , your music made me, I'm sailing on the jet stream, transcend all music of this time
I still have this album
Excellent guitar work.

That ending tho
I got to see the original band at the HoB in New Orleans for the Bands Reunited tour. They still jammed and were very loud! Wish they would get back together to make new music.
They have reunited once more and are working on a new project called *'Ascension'.*
They have, Ascension got released a year ago. It's re-recordings of their older hits with an orchestra added, sounds amazing. A completely new album isn't off the table, but Mike Score will finish a second solo album first

Also underappreciated.... Frank and Allister!
Yeah good shout 👍 .all 4 of them could really play quite a rare thing in the 80s
Have it & love it!!! I want my FOS!!!!
Que excelente sonido, gran banda
this is good..almost proggy
Brilliant !!!
This is amazing
this blows I-Ran away!!
It certainly does
☆LONG LIVE THE 80'S☆
Wow very much like Early Cure, or other post-punk/goth sounds
Great tune from my youth. AFOS ROX!
new to me, and great
BRUTAL
#Energía!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gary Numan's "Are friends Electric" is all over this. I wonder which came first, I think GN's track was 1979?
Music to smoke weed too
SICK
and the outtro....
Hell yes...that outro gives me goosebumps
G.B wuz here
a gim it is wow
This song is not on Apple Music, surprisingly.....
Futuro real 2028 ...yeaht .. fatal banda ..
This needs a metal band to cover it.
Deftones would do an excellent cover IMO
Bit too heavy/prog rock-ish for my liking. I personally prefer their lighter and poppier tunes. Sorry but heavy metal and hard rock are my least favourite genres of music.
