I work at an LGS, and yeah you definitely don't get paid enough to deal with some of the customers/players who come in. But, at least for me, it's not about the money, it's about getting to spread the joy of the game to others who may be interested in learning how to play.
I love that the gimmick of Adam's character as a lead is that he's just... the only nice, normal one. The subtlety of the humour of his interaction with Nelson being short, but perfectly pleasant and not aneurysm-inducing is delightful.
@@MoTownIfrit that's true, the YJ's Twitter page says that it has the most attended MTG tournaments in the city. No doubt that they had some help from Friday Nights
As someone that worked in an LGS for a year. I think this may be the best episode ever. I love it and can appreciate the little things that this video has. A+ crew
As someone who loves themselves some good sleeves, the entirety of that sleeve scene gave me both pleasant chills and horrifying realizations of my obsession for that good-yet-unattainable good sleeve feel.
Remember, everybody; most players are kind and want to hang out with friends, and most LGS employees are kind and just don't want to deal with overtly obnoxious customers. Most of MTG persons are roughly approximated in Nelson and Adam, and that's rad.
In a stunning turn of events, Adam is actually the most awesome and normal customer ever, and I strongly approve. Edit: I'm not sure we'll be seeing Paul again.
Skylord was the pick anyways. Not worth committing to 2 colors first pick especially when skylord is never going to be cut from any deck playing blue and is splashable
Some say that Volcanic Island is still drifting at sea to this day. I like to think it settled down and now lives a comfortable life as an actual volcanic island.
"Hello, I would like to return these sleeves?" That look is what everyone in the service industry will give you if you come in 5 min before close or less.
@@ForeverOdd I've always found it funny how the best part of a retail worker's job of that parts that don't involve customers. I used to *choose* to start at 5am on Sundays so I could have three hours to work without customers (ad signs don't have themselves after all). Those were the best three hours of my work week.
got to say this was done beautifully. Love every scene and the still air shots work so well. Nelson and Adam are best boys. the final Scene also was perfect, standing ovation!
Yep, commander players definitely like to show up early, I usually get there around 4pm, sometimes earlier if I'm buying singles Yj is a great place, and Nelson is a lot friendlier in person
"What if you both left the store? :D" I love Nelson's delivery on this line so much, truly beautiful and it manages to capture a mixture of wishful thinking and sarcasm all at once with his briefly distant gaze on that line delivery, like he's briefly in that daydream in which Cameron and Kathleen did in fact leave the store. Truly brilliant
Nice. Gotta love the "Really?" stare from Nelson when Paul turned up at closing time. If you've ever worked any retail, this is something you're intimately familiar with. Adam is a very good boy. Pretzels to keep clean, non-greasy hands are the perfect pick for any sort of gaming.
If you havent already, watch all of their Commodore hustle series. Its not like, full sitcom length or anything but its still really funny and there are a lot of episodes.
This may be one of your strongest episodes of all time. Really tight writing, and the framing device sub-plot with Adam is kinda like your earlier episodes too, which all rocked. Really enjoyed it 👍 Thanks!
It only just hit me that Anafenza and Adeliz have no mutual color identity, so the only cards that can be shared between them are colorless, hence the "ship of Theseus" joke.
Looking back (and excited for a new season soon) we never did find out what graham took. Some say it’s still on that pick one screen even to this day. As for me, I hope he picked Ashiok.
They do 11 episodes a year, so one every month except November, which they skip due to Desert Bus for Hope being that month and it taking literally all of their time and energy.
I absolutely adore that in this setting of wacky, unlikeable-yet-still-lovable characters, Adam's gimmick is "completely normal, good dude." Also Nelson's patience is boundless.
Loved how you focused on a normal LGS daily function. Yelliw jacket is pretty much how all other stores go through their normsl maintenance. Awesome video! (Needs more deej)
Adam as the straight-man in this series has honestly elevated it to new height. Having worked in retail and knowing people who work in an LGS, Nelson's story-line hurts me on a deep level.
love the cards . . . i want a Paul . . . for at work . . . when i need to wash dishes . . . to look awesome while doing it . . . also when it cut to the fan i leaned in for a breeze . . .
"Not so dummy thicc that the flicking of my cards alerts the judges"
Ok that one got me
I know it had me dead😂😂😂
Oh my god I did not get that on my first watch xDDDD This is hilarious!
That's the first time I've ever liked that meme
I didn’t get it :c
Colonel...
So what i learned from this is that Adam is a good boy and Nelson doesnt get paid enough.

No, Adam is best boy.
He is a big burly boy
Alternately, Adam is the only non-psycho in the LRR crew and Nelson doesn't get paid enough.
No joke: exactly what I was gonna say here.
I love that the gimmick of Adam's character as a lead is that he's just... the only nice, normal one. The subtlety of the humour of his interaction with Nelson being short, but perfectly pleasant and not aneurysm-inducing is delightful.
Well, he did bring that Angus Mackenzie deck to Commander and had no idea how it won games...
What's even more hilarious is the other "characters" are more believable than one might think... smh... nerds are weird people
An episode where Nelson is basically the main character, I love it.
In general it's nice having Nelson around, so this episode was especially good.
When a sketch comedy troupe has enough store credit to rent your entire LGS.
It's free advertising

You ain't a magic player if you don't have scheduled anxiety nights.
I think they call that one a big mood
Same, my dude.
So I'm sure you don't mean any harm, but... referring to Cam, who is First Nations, as your spirit animal is kind of maybe a little bit... tasteless?

I just started working at my LGS and I've never related harder to a video, possibly ever. Also I want to know how Graham's draft turned out
He still hasn't made his first pick. Legends say he's still pondering over Ashiok and Leyline Prowler.
Korren He chose basic Forest and secretly got qualified to join the next Mythic Championship
Oof, same here. This was too real lol

Because they never wanted to leaving the loving embrace of Adam's friendship.
This is so wholesome
Adam "Normal Human" Savidan continues to mystify production studio full of magic playing crazy people. More at 11.
It's like when missy tried being nice to them .
They craze each other so much even a little gesture seems like an assassination plot to the guys.
Technically, Adam Savidan is a "Human Canadian" snow permanent hate card.
Adam is not a normal human he's a unit
Hey. Tell Matt he hit it out of the park with the sound. I felt the emphasis on the sound design and he did a great job
"I'm not trying to be difficult"
Shopkeep "I don't believe you"

I want a video with lo-fi audio and random calm takes of the Yellowjacket, like the fan and the airship
This was the chillest episode, even when Nelson had to deal with almost everyone's shenanigans
That final message on the white board at 2:40 made me cry. Thank you all.
