I have EDS and use a wheelchair when I have to go do things where I would need to walk or stand more than a few minutes. I have such severe laxity in tendons and ligaments in my spine that I lose all feeling in my left leg after about 5-10 minutes. For so many years I denied myself mobility aids because doctors told me it was "just sciatica" or "piriformis syndrome". People with disabilities deserve to use whatever aids they need to be able to get out and enjoy some of life.

I also have the trouble of a loss of feeling at time depending on what I’m doing. Wow it’s surreal to hear someone say it of themselves!!! Thanks for sharing

I am newly in a wheelchair- first pushed then bought an electric wheelchair to gain more independence. I have metastatic breast cancer in the bones causing pain, limited walking or standing for even short periods (5-6 minutes). My disability is pain and limited lung capacity secondary to damage from many radiation treatments ( 187 to date) most to the chest. Due to my age (70) I don’t get much push back, in fact most people are helpful.
Manual wheelchairs can have little battery powered engines added- this might help many. My wheelchair can be turned off and pushed too.

I wish my small framed chair had a tiny little motor sometimes.

I sadly recognize the pride part about using the chair😅
