We have used shearing knives in the past but we find hand clippers give our trees better texture and are far easier on the body. My father has had 3 shoulder surgeries on one shoulder and 2 more on the other.
@@berkeysnursery8247 I was going to ask you the same question. I appreciate the reply. I only have a few years of shearing with a knife (not to mention all kinds of other labor) and my shoulder is suffering. I always figured the knife shearing could catch up to me and it did. The clippers do give a nice look. Your trees look excellent!

Hand clippers for the sides? 3' shearing knife is much faster!
