Becky, gel knee pads........get a pair and save your knees for problems later on. Buy the takeout, eat the snacks and buy the gourmet coffee/drinks. It will definitely take away some of the stress. What you all are doing now is very labor intensive. Continue to give yourself grace. I love the trim work you all are doing. It looks awesome.
Knee pads!! Yes this!
Yep yep that’s what I was thinking! There are some that have wheels that look like they would be so comfortable! The ones with the straps to hold them on cut off circulation.
Or you can also use a kneeling pad that you use in the garden. They are pretty reasonable at the hardware store. I like the wider ones.
Amen! Knee pads my dear! I use to have a home day care and i would go around on my knees picking up toys/books etc. My Momma would beg me to stop crawling around on my knees so much. She warned me i would pay for it later. Fast forward 16 years and She Was Right. She usually always was. I love your spirit girl! You aren't afraid of work!
Completely agree with all you said she can also find knee pads at the dollar store the sponge kind they really do work great
Was on my way out the door. I screamed downstairs "Give me 27 minutes" my roommate knew you must have posted. I love your videos and the new house is amazing. Can't wait to see the kitchen and garden grow with you and Josh. Have a great Saturday.
I so relate!
Lol I feel like I'm hanging and chatting with my bestie while I watch lol
Yep I feel like a stalker but I’m on the other end of the country lol
Lol I'm same ,been checking in all day ,just about to switch off and boom
You can speed up the video and decrease watch time if you are in a rush! 😉
I had no idea you and Josh met online. You guys work so well together and your families are so intertwined I would have pegged you guys for high school sweethearts! 💕
Can we take a moment to remark how much I’m in awe of your Slav-Squats while ripping up carpet? Dude I’m dead just watching you work. Such a Renaissance Woman. 💪
Josh’s trim work is incredible. I agree you always feed friends that help their favorite food.
I absolutely LOVE the idea of a landscape architect! That's so smart!! ❤️
Becky: If you’re missing a hammer check time 13:19.
I’ve never seen anyone work as hard as you! You create everything with joy and excitement. Watching you leaves me both exhausted and inspired. Mahalo for sharing your life with us. Aloha from Hawaii.
Whoever buys your old property are going to be blessed with a beautiful garden!♥️
Your energy amazes me, Becky. I don’t know how you find the time to film and edit videos while doing everything else but I am really glad that you do!🌻
Me too❣
YES! please bottle it and share!
I think it’s because she eats so much and so nutritiously.
Josh has made good progress! Kudos to your friend for being such a good helper.
Oh my gosh this is such a rewarding day!! SOOO thankful that your friend came to help!!! This was an action packed segment! Not only are we getting a look at how the garden is doing at the old house, we got an opportunity to see all the progress you've made! Josh's trim is absolutely beautiful!! You and Josh certainly have worked hard on your "week off". You both deserve a vacation....like sitting in that beautiful new back yard and just stare at the mountains and day dream of what you envision for your home to come! So happy for both of you!
Hey, after you get your current house is cleaned out you should do and old house tour. Me and my mom love ❤️ watching your videos we have watched most of your videos. I love watching videos with you and your mom for parties. I love your dogs too, I think they are so cute! I think that is amazing that Josh is getting used to being on camera. My mom and I are thinking about starting our own UA-cam channel; cooking and other stuff. I love helping her. I help doing the dishes, cleaning, laundry and cooking. We are going to try some of your dinners and freezer meals. We love you! Mia ~ age 10
You are one amazing woman! I have binge watched you for three days! I filled a whole stack of 3 x5 recipe cards watching you and your Mom's parties and everything you do. I watch on TV so I didn't see the subscribe etc or recipes. I love love love your skills! You are amazing. I'm 68 now and wish I had 1/3 your energy. Been ill with cancer. Have a niece in Vancouver and daughter in Portland! God bless all your endeavors! We're using your recipes from 4th of July for our trip to Ocean Shores.
I agree with everyone, the house will be stunning , but I'm so excited to see the garden design. Blessings on you all. Take care not to overdo yourselves.
For next time:
When you need "matching" trim for windows and doors, consider taking matching trim down from INSIDE of the closet doors. Replace the inside closet trim with something of the same scale (even if the profile is different), and paint to match the rest.
Most people will never notice that trim inside of a closet doesn't match.
Its his OCD that will, tho.
Buth Josh will 😉
Great work today pulling up the carpet and padding!!! Tell Josh the trim work is absolutely gorgeous!!! So excited for you guys!!! ❤️
So exciting to see the progress. Those craftsman style headers/trim made it look totally different. So classy. It literally changed the look of the whole room. Also the way he did the three doors looked awesome. The choices y'all are making are beautiful. Bravo, great work.
If you don't already have one, go get yourself a moisture meter. You can quickly check your walls and floors to see if there is an abnormal amount of moisture when you see staining. That will tell you really quickly if something is fresh, or if it is just an old stain that the issue was handled.
I loved watching the pups be so helpful! Dogs, the love of our lives!
I always wait to get a notification, and tonight it's a rainy day so I'm in bed with my little 3 year old and we get to snuggle while watching Becky ❤️
I love how “the boys” ere watching you so intently rip out the carpet. They seem happy at their new house! Josh is a master at the trim work! WOW 🤩. Glad his friend helped you guys out.
Don't forget to get your air ducks cleaned out prior to moving in. Over the duration of years there is probably a lot of build up in those vents. When you have the AC on or the Heater having those cleaned out is a must!
So true! The previous owners didn’t do much at all to keep things working well & mine were disgusting and filled with god knows what!
True even when you buy a newly built house. There was construction debris in ours!
Sooo important to everyone!
Becky that is exactly the trim in my 120 year old home in Michigan!!!
Watching you getting freezer meals out, I just realized you will eventually have to move the freezers and what's in them. Maybe work it down so one is empty, move that, then move contents once it has reached temp. Like that puzzle where you have to get things across the river.
hi sweetie, I have been watching you on my tv for months now and I love your show. You have made me wish that I had done just what you do, now at 72 I find it hard lol. You are the bomb of UA-cam. Thank you for all you do, you keep me going Becky
Beckie I know that carpet was not your preferred choice but judging from the looks of it it looked new. Perhaps one option could have been to post it on marketplace for someone to take it say for a boys room or other small room. Come and remove it and take it away. Just a thought. I was thinking boy that carpet looked new and this idea could've saved some of it from the landfill and help a family in need.
Hi, I know you and josh have thought all this through so can you explain hanging the new trim before painting the walls? It’s going to look fantastic!
I was thinking the same thing
Yes I wondered too since I think it would be so much easier to paint without having to paint along the trim which is the part I hate to do the most when painting! I also paint the trim before putting it in too then touch it up the nail holes.
I have alson wondered why on HGTV shows they would put flooring in before painting and I would wonder WHY would you paint after putting in new flooring! Well I am a messy painter maybe they are more professional than I am! 😆
In new construction the carpenters always come through and nail up all the trim after the drywall. That job often leaves marks on the wall, they leave scuffs and mark off the studs and stuff. Then after it is caulked they usually go around and spray all the trim, you want to fully cover the caulk and go up onto the wall a hair.
@@helloworld441 She did say they are going to paint the trim.
In another video you used a strainer that you slide onto the pot to drain potatoes and also a special opener to open your canned items. I’d like to know where you got them. Enjoy your journey with your new home🌻
I love the way the wood chips look in gardens around the beds. I signed up for chip drop and no one has dropped anything yet! We're pretty rural though so it's not surprising.
Your garden looks sooooo beautiful right now! Looks like it’s exploding with goodies!!! Also your trim is beautiful, you have great taste! It’s almost the exact same trim profile in my 1913 home 😁👌
Oh that stain has me so nervous! Hopefully since it was dry and not wet it’s been long taken care of properly. The Kilz is definitely smart.
Thanks so much for taking us on this journey with you two!
Josh is full of surprises. That trim piece was awesome. Best way to do in that location. And I love the trim. And yay Mexican take out. And glad you got some help yay. And the dogs are adorable. 🥰
Wow Becky. Love that you are sharing this journey with us. Great job. And you're friends dog is adorable
The trim looks so good!! It reminds me of our first house.. it was built in 1910. 🥰
I can’t wait to watch this. You two are my favourite UA-camrs - this new house is a beautiful dream ❤️💙❤️💙
We just went through the carpet removal last year. Pulling the staples is the worst part. You and Josh have a good friend to help you. Good friends are hard to find.
Your so blessed to have so much! That carpet looked brand new, the pad also! I know there is people who would take it all out for free, just to have it. The same thing with the trim. Place an add in paper. You'd probably get tons of calls. You can check them out b4 you bring them into your home.
Ahhh, finally found someone who shared the same thoughts about that seemingly brand new carpet and pad. And the color was very pretty. SAD really
Lol...the pupsters were soooooo confused when you cut into the carpet amd started ripping it up. To cute
Josh!!!!! Your trim work is so beautiful I love it...and Becky of course i love everything you do too!! You both are great!!
I have two auto immune diseases that cause me chronic pain and fatigue. I'm 45 and I feel like I'm 70 most days. I love to garden and wish I still had it in me to run all day long.
I just wanted to say I have so much respect for your hustle!❤️ I know people who are perfectly fine physically and just don't have the drive to do what you do. The amount of work you achieve in a day is only a dream for me with my physical problems.
I enjoy watching your channel and everything you do. You're an amazing woman and your husband is lucky to have you. When I think of what the current American dream is, you two have nailed it. Our society has reached the point that we need as much independent stability as possible, especially with producing and relying on our own food crops as much as possible. Covid taught us that food shortages and prices are no joke and can occur at anytime. It must feel so good knowing if anything goes south, you are more or less capable of self sustaining. Keep up the good work! I love your new home, it's very much deserved. You worked so hard for all this, you should be very proud!
I check every other day for a new video u really have helped me so much wit my hole an garden I’ve followed all ur steps an tricks an my garden is going so good thank you so much for sharing ur life wit us
I love the dogs! I think they were whining because they were like "Who is she talking to? There's no one there? Is she losing her mind?" Hee Hee....I love your videos so much I've been binge watching them for the last 48hrs and my DVR is now at only 5% capacity left...oh my!
I also made a mental note that you are 3mths+ pregnant doing all of this and you don't seem phased at all. When you slipped a little in the previous video when taking down the curtains I let out a huge "OH MY GOSH DON"T FALL!" and thankfully you didn't, it didn't even phase you! You are resilient (SP) and I'm so happy and proud for you. I know I'm behind in all you've done but I feel like I'm there with you now even though it was then...(huh?😋!)...just soo soo proud of you guys. I don't even know if you'll ever see these posts but I had to comment.
I know you probably can't but gosh that carpet looks so good to bad you can't donate it or put it in the shop or basement space until you get to those areas, just a thought.
The "no shoe zone" or game/media room makes me think of fun and drinks and food so I'd think that shoes wouldn't be my 1st worry as much as spills on the carpet.....just from experience...
Can I be a dirty ole 56yr old lady and say your friend has a very nice tusheee...😁😇🤪🤭....plus when Rocky the dog came up to your friend and dropped his toy saying "don't forget about me, I'm bored, let's play!!" sooo sooo sooo cute
I am unbelievably invested in this house move!
I cant wait for all the future videos youll be making about it, and from it!
On that note, i was wondering if youd film the process of making your new pantry in the basement? Id LOVE to see how you and josh tackle that
I remember those long exhausting days of renovating. Take breaks and yes get take out meals and yummy coffees. It helps a lot! Congratulations on your new home.
You said we made the sandwiches together, but to be fair, I really just sat and watched while you did all the work. ;)
😅
Glad to see you thought of installing the fire escape ladder.
It's looking good. Friends are always a blessing to have for extra help!
My husband and I also met online, we will be married 20 years this coming Feb!
I only found your channel about a month ago and I am truly enjoying your content. I am a 44-year-old woman and had a stroke at the end of this past December and lost strength and mobility in my right upper extremity and haven't been able to work since. I was in the process of looking at homes with land for gardening on a bit smaller scale than you guys right before this happened, but unfortunately that is all on the back burner while I recover. However, I am doing better month by month and prayerfully I will regain full function or at least enough to be able to possibly continue in a modified manner eventually. But I believe that God is in control and He has a purpose for me regardless of the final outcome so no worries and not saying to gain sympathy, merely want you to know that you guys have been a light to me in watching your journey. To see the unbridled passion and joy you both exude in what you are doing is a blessing to my heart and allows me to live vicariously through you until, God willing, I may be able to resume working towards that dream for myself. I pray you both are blessed on this journey of yours and look forward seeing your path unfold. Thank you so much for sharing what you are doing!
May God bless you with a speedy recovery, a d continued fortitude.🙏🏻
@@eer4465 Ty so much. God's blessing's to you as well!
that sounds like such a great idea having a landscape designer come in and help with the garden design. Can't wait to see what you build! Everything is coming along, so exciting.
Greetings from East Texas! Very exciting to see the progress on your new house! Y’all are working HARD! Take time to care for yourselves too
I make my breakfast sandwiches with the Costco cheese buns, I always toast the buns before I put them together. I also use Canadian back bacon instead of sausage or regular bacon.
You're house us going to be gorgeous when it's done. Way to go Josh, you have some serious talent with wood working. I like that he is in your videos more. He seems a lot more relaxed and you two are so sweet together. It's so nice to see two people in love and that are so nice to each other. We need more of this!
You guys are so talented! I’m so happy that you’re able to make your house your own and how beautiful it’s going to look.
I love all your "helpers." LOL. So funny. So nice to have help. Good Job!
My knees are hurting just watching you tug and roll that carpet. You both are such hard workers and so deserve your successes and this beautiful new home 🏡 ❤️❤️
So sad the carpet was not donated. Is it America thing to have textured wall and ceilings as here in the UK we don't have that we like flat walls painted or wallpapered. Trim is very nice.
Loved watching this but I was on pins and needles worrying that your friends dog was going to step on either the tack strip or the pulled staples😲. You guys have made amazing progress already. Looking forward to seeing how your garden will be planned out.❤️
I love how you are not afraid to try anything! You go, girl!
AMAZING JOB ya'll!!!!!!! Oh, to be young & fit, working toward your dream! I love your new border, the only problem I would have is dust! I am a clean fanatic & am doing away with anything that I have to dust! I do love how it looks down the hallway, all the same, clean. Having the fur babies around you is so cute!!! Love & prayers from Fla.
I have been binge watching you for 4 days!! You remind me sooo much of my granddaughter. Your mannerisms your voice your energy are the same. Speaking of energy you need to conserve yours. Take good care of yourself and that baby. Your home and the work you are putting into it is amazing! You both are blessed.
I just love how you guys are, it makes such a difference in watching a video.
I absolutely love your trim choice! It looks beautiful.
Why dont you paint before installing trim? Then you don't have to mask. I always pre-painted the trim and painted the walls before install, then touch up over brad nail holes after install, cuts out a lot of time.
Love that you got some extra paw power.
My wife has been following you for a while and now I have also subscribed, Becky! We are so jealous of your new house. Josh is doing an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING job with the trim work. However, I so have a question. Wouldn't it be quicker and more efficient to paint all the walls first, then install the casings & baseboard? That way, you wouldn't have "cut-in" painting to do.
I thought the exact same thing. So much easier to not have to cut in.
The eternal "discussion" in my house.
Note- I have become an expert cutter inner 😂
But if I can get to either the walls and or trim beforehand, I do it.
My husband and I said the same thing! Paint first! So much easier
My former brother-in-law was a professional painter. He said ALWAYS trim and caulk before painting, you'll get a much better finish.
As a new viewer/subscriber, I must say that your enthusiasm is infectious and your work ethic is something to be admired. Thanks for letting us tag along on this adventure!
I know you're super busy, but that glimpse of your nasturtiums has me all sorts of ready for a garden tour. Mine was planted late so I'm living vicariously through my UA-cam friends 😅 You guys are doing an amazing job! I'm so excited to watch your journey as you make your new home your own.
Why do you put up trim before painting? I don't get it.
I cannot believe how fast things are moving on the work at your new place. Josh's work is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! You are doing a great job too!!!!!!!!! I know you are itching to get in the garden area!!!!!! It is going to be such a wonderful place when you get it like you want it!!!!!
Dropped just in time to watch before I had to get ready for work! Josh did an absolutely awesome job with his trim work, and you've both got a champ of a friend who will help with reno work. I was also really excited to see the garden- it's exploded!!!
Hi Becky, what a lush garden right now!
Perhaps you could let some of the cilantro go to seed. The pollinators just adore flowers from the umbel family, plus you can use the green seeds in cooking, as well as harvest the ripe seeds to grind for coriander (and save some to grow new plants of course).
When you do decide to pull the plants, there is a huge amount of flavour in the roots. You can use them in making curry pastes or dry some and grind to a powder as well.
Such a useful plant :)
I love the new home renovation videos! I’m definitely invested. Thank you for sharing!
Great work guys!! My husband was a landscaper and we did a lot of plans so that the client could install the plan in sections as they had the time/money.
Y’all are amazing workers! I would wear out at lot faster than you two have. Sending blessings to your new home.
Love the new house!! So excited for all the wonderful improvements and beauty you will create! Looking forward to you sharing Thank you!!
That carpet looked new.
Padding too, I was like y'all could sell that if you're not keeping it.
used carpets can be used in the garden.
Weed control.
We use them on walk path areas.
Helps with mud issues too.
❤the new place.
People on the allotments use them ,Becky to prevent weeds ,might be an idea to save and use carpets in ur veg garden
@@janetsandham4399 they can also be used on slopes to minimize runoff, and erosion.
Why wouldn't you paint before putting up the molding?
That's a good friend!
We love seeing Josh in the videos now! You two make an awesome team and we look forward to all of your videos!
Love seeing all the dogs. I have a red golden doodle. And so nice to see Josh and your friend. You are so blessed and work so hard. May the Lord continues his grace and blessings in your lives🙏❤️🙏
What a lovely family you are. Your new forever home looks beautiful, I’ve enjoy watching your vlogs, luv the furbabies. Take care all the best to you both. 🇬🇧 xx
Lots hard work but you will both be so very proud of your forever home 🏡 💛 ❤️ 💗
I'm really enjoying watching you make your forever home yours. I was skeptical when you started taking the trim down because it was fine. (Little did I know the variety throughout the house.) Then you showed us what the finished product looked like and my goodness...Josh! That is amazing! I can't wait till he finishes and you've got this cohesive vision come to life. It's going to be awesome. I love mission style furniture and trim work. Awesome!
I live in a 75 yr old craftsman shotgun double. Your trim is exactly the style in out double.
Looks great.
Yay! I took your recipe for the ribs and I'm currently cooking some so this is perfect. For some reason whenever you post a video I'm cooking one of your recipes you just inspire me to be brave and try things I've never tried before!
I didn’t see the ribs video
@@jewelcooke7601 Correct. That's not what I said though. Lol
Where did you find the recipe?
@@CardioCaffeineQueen That was really rude to say to her when she was just asking about a rib recipe in order for you to try her recipe didn’t you have to get it from a video Miss smarty-pants
How was that was that rude? 🧐 Btw name calling even something as innocent as smart pants is rude when you just assume you know me well enough to think I was being rude.
She had it mixed in which another video I believe was from this year & I think after the holidays, but I don't think she has it on scratch pantry yet.
We took a large flat head then ground the sides down on either side to lift staples.
A tool is available but why spend 3 x more.
If you have too, hammer the tip to create a bend.
This is fun watching you do all this work. It will be nice to see it in the end
That was great having the extra hand
What an accomplishment, you two!!! SO happy to see how you're coming along! Can you talk a little about why you decided against painting before replacing the trim, though? We're considering painting our house AND changing out trim & think it would be less labor intensive (AND mitigate potential paint slip ups & accidents to clean up) to remove all trim, paint & THEN replace & paint trim.
If I'm not mistaken, I think I have heard her say they are also painting the trim. Not a 100% on that, but I thought I heard mention of it even in this video. 🤷
I just found your channel..having missed all your last home I’m so excited to start this new forever home journey with you , and in between I can binge watch previous videos.
Friends that show up , get stuck in and still come back for more are few and far between, he’s a great guy with a gorgeous dog.
Excited to see more xx xx
Love, love, love that trimwork - so simple, yet ellaborate and a demonstration of great craftmanship! 👏👏👏🤗
a thought would be to watch Living traditions homestead with sarah and Kevin where they have a chicken run with double fence around garden, orchard area. the double fence detours deer from jumping into the garden. the basement would be great for freezer, freeze dryer, pantry, cleaning and prep vegetables. upstairs for Laundry and empty jars till ready to can.extra freezer for everyday use.... down stairs freezer for pre- freeze foods for freeze dryer in cooler part of house .
I'm sooo looking forward to this new content. My husband and I are in the market for our forever home and it looks like you have more to teach me!
Wow! Your garden has gone bonkers!!
A side note on lettuces… they are crazy expensive in Queensland at the moment (about $10 to $12 per head! 😳 if you can get them at all). We had a VERY wet autumn and flooding happened through the ‘market garden’ areas and we don’t have lettuce available.
I am so much more productive while watching you. You are so inspirational thank you for making so many videos.
Great job & having friends. Always good 👍
Absolutely love seeing a notification from Acre Homestead. You were my motivation to start gardening
Ahh this brings back (recent) memories! When Cade and I first bought our house, the first couple of weekends was demo of the whole house, i was the dedicated staple puller too! Great video! Thanks for taking us on this journey!
oh my gosh you guys are AMAZING... I am so extremely happy that I found your channel--I learn something new with every video ! Thank you so much for doing them.
Wow ! So jealous of your hubby's craftsmanship! Amazing! Your are an awesome worker as well. I know how grateful you must be to have each other!!! XOXOXO
