With modern main battle tanks being around 60 to 65 tons they do actually make perfect sense. The reason Mechs are so large relative to the tonnage is probably because Myomer bundles (Mech muscles) are supper light weight.
Ill buy it!
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming how do you run a battletech channel and not know anything about it
Insecure nerd alert.
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming what?
You tell me. You’re the loser that is talking shit on my very popular channel.
The vehicles packs were the first ones from the Kickstarter that I painted up. Paint them um a nice neutral green or something and they can serve as a stand in for any kind of force. But well done, nice, video!
That or paint them up in a scheme of a mercenary band, it makes perfect sense for them to fight on whatever side.
Box art is of the Crucis Lancers deploying for battle. There's a full page spread in the Dominions Divided sourcebook as well as Battletech Universe
The popularity of this pack gives me hope that Catalyst takes note and produces more plastic VTOLs!
Many of us have been waiting for a Ferret VTOL mini since 1987. The Ferret is the very first vehicle
featured in TRO 3026 and yet all these years later an official mini has never been made.
I've been using Micro-machine AH-1 Cobras as Ferrets for decades.
The MM Osprey works well for the Karnov and the old Kenner Mega Force Triax helicopters
work as Warriors until these are more available.
For the VTOLs we have minis of the Partha/IWM minis are heavy and easily come apart so they
sit on my shelf while I use the proxies in game.
Also-IMHO the Striker SHOULD have been in the kickstarter.
Yellowjacket in all the flavors!
The Ontos was clearly inspired by its historical counterpart, just like Hetzer 😀
you get 1 upvote for using the mech2 merch sound track that i love during the turntable
19:10 I think someone did some number punching and figured out that 'Mechs would have to be made out of a lighter-than-air material for them to weigh what they do at their dimensions.
Great review guys, thanks! A friend recently sent an Inner Sphere Direct Fire Lance to me, very excited to paint it. Glad I found your channel, I am getting back into Battletech again after an almost 30 year break. I love to see all these mechs and vehicles in detail and as close in as you bring them, before I go trying to hunt them down. Well done! I had a pair of the old metal Ontos that Ral Partha made way back in the 80's, really cool to see it made in plastic.
Tex Talks posed a theory of a new weight measurement. A Star League Ton. Since weight for space travel would need to be uniform for all transportation and logistics . This would mean a new base line measurement.
Love it
So the tanks actually are too small in relation to how they scaled the mechs. Just look at the SRM6s on the Behemoth, those tiny 6 ports on top of the guns, compared to the SRM6s on mechs like the wolverine or gargoyle. Same with the AC10, the ac10 is pretty small, smaller then the ac5 on the marauder or the ac10s on something like an enforcer/hammerhands. I think a big part of this is the hex. The hex is 32mm across, so tanks cant be longer then this, meaning they are all scaled down to fit lengthwise on the hex. Compared to mechs, who use a lot more vertical height (and many plastic models are scaled up to be taller) the tanks look all scaled down, with 'mini' weapons and a strict limit on length due to not spilling over the base.
Mmm good points!!
I played a game with the Warriors as spotters for some LRM carriers and really liked how they worked together.
Modern day main battle tank crews are 4: commander, gunner, driver and loader. most are moving to auto loaders and might sacrifice the loader/mechanic/jack of all trade position
gotta love how you guys are salty about the ks as well LOL, great video as always
Haha dude its crazy - I can’t even get my shipping overcharge credited back
Love the video, @Death From Above Wargaming. Something I have been wondering. Is your Battlytics program able to run simulations for vehicles? Would be interested in see analysis videos for vehicles such as the Carnivore, the Alacorn, the Oro, and the Chalchiuhtotolin. Mainly to see you try and pronounce the latter on video.
The Countchocula tank? I would need to do code upgrades to support vehicles, hit locations, motive hits, etc. it would be a very diff analysis for sure!
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming I believe in you! And that Countchocula tank has a bunch of wheels on it!
It makes sense that tanks would be made of denser material than mechs. Even the heaviest mechs are significantly more agile than tanks, that’s kind of the whole point of building giant walking robots in the first place :)
I think CGL has done a great job scaling all the new minis.
i realy like the backround where you´re presenting the tanks! and thanks for you´re contenr, i like it .
Great video! Hope your KS comes soon. Maybe, Thom could do a dance so your KS arrives ASAP. Looking forward to more videos.
Thom dances on a regular basis
@ Aaron, I am talking about Thom dancing for your KS. Thom should have a rattle in each hand.
I'm only now getting into battletech. I've known about it for years, and played many of the mechwarrior videogames, but I only really like a precious few mech designs so never really got into it.
TANKS AND HELI'S HOWEVER are almost singlehandedly getting me interested in the tabletop game, I just wish that they were more easily available to get a box of tanks myself.
here in Australia, not expecting delivery until next year maybe... for ks
Ain't alone mate... bloody sucks... I have less kind words but... you know, won't make a lick of difference.
I run a group and they simply don't have the disposable income I do, I backed at 'Regiment' PLUS way too many extras, and I've been saying to them 'it's coming, it's coming' for like the last six months, slowly turning into less and less enthusiasm until finally CGL just outright came out and admitted it.
My players love the Battletech campaign I run for them (I'm basically the GM, perpetual OpFor and narrative master) they are chewing through the content I lay in front of them from Misery to just now finishing up the defensive campaign against the DCMS on the Lyran front during the 4th Succession war, onto some RNR on Solaris VII. They just itch for all the new stuff, the warriors, more tanks, and mechs I've mentioned and described from Hoplites, to chargers and the ost-line mechs, and shown them scroggins art for...
Double edged sword getting them all excited.
You should have seen their faces fall when I finally confirmed this stuff isn't hitting their table until next year when we were much more expecting it all to arrive at latest last month when I first backed. No early Christmas for Down-Under.
Does that backsplash art include Salamanders?
The Ontos is probably my second favorite combat vehicle, after the Partisan.
Running CVs in pairs might be standard IS doctine. I'm not confident on that.
'Mechs have a lot of empty space, likely to make room for all of the myomer flexing, actuators, and other construction considerations. In comparison, a tank is going to be significantly more compact. This plays out in armor distribution, too, with tanks being able to slap more armor on fewer locations compared to a 'Mech of the same weight.
IIRC a Behemoth has a crew of 7. Btech vehicle rules is 1 crew for every 15 tons of vehicle, I think. For the most part it really makes no sense, except possibly on the Behemoth, since they have so many weapon systems in so many facings.
"Touch it" 😂😂😂
I'd be down for AGOAT...
Thanks for the review!
Keep on truckin' guys! Great stuff, even if no Override content. 😅 Also, where's Thom? 😢
I bet Thom is busy handing out tickets to the gun show 💪💪
Thom will make an appearance soon. He hasn’t been thrilled with BT lately. Hard to blame him.
Behemoth reminds me of the Mammoth Tank from Command and Conquer series
Also that BMPT "Terminator" tank is a Russian made urban assault tank
Tanks can have a crew of 3 if they have an autoloader, like most Russian tanks, and western tanks still use a Soldier to load the tank, so four in those
Behemoth and Ontos have 7 crew each.
The mercenaries box comes with battlefield support cards for not just the vehicles you get minis for, but also the tokens it comes with as well. However, they are just the base variants repeated multiple times.

Well I've finally got my address confirmation in the UK. Hope you get yours soon (I can't believe you still haven't got your stuff).
"Two enter. Only one leaves."
i just love my combined arms and i prefer using the "old rules" for them, but i use the new ones if it makes a difference for my oponents.. but I am a COmstar/SLDF player so i have weird tastes in mechs too xD
How durable are these figurines? I worry that my nieces might be too rough with them during alpha strike games
They are trying hard to catch up to 3D printing STL files. Unfortunately, the quality of resolution is lacking at best.
I think they add multiple to the pack so it can be used by 2 player?
14:03 The designers of the Ontos achieved their goal: to make a hideous freak machine. Its real-world namesake was an ugly weird vehicle with 6-8 bazookas strapped to it. Ontos was a slang that meant "thing" in Greek. You can not like the design. Nobody did, and that's what makes it unique
That is amazing! I need to google this immediately
A normal tank has a driver, gunner, loader, and commander.
I will take your Ontos if you do not want them. They are fantastic in Alpha Strike.
You still haven't got your kickstarter yet?
lol no - I have gotten TWO address confirmations (one in July, one in Nov) and no shipping notices. I’m over it!!
@DeathfromAboveWargaming dang man. Sorry to hear that. And I thought I got mine late. Got it like 2 weeks ago. It's all that swag they are waiting on lol.
@JustinPivinski-cm2rh right - the shit literally no one cares about haha
Tanks won’t be as big as mechs, the entire point of tank design post-30s was to balance price, capability and compact form-factor. If a tank is compact it can get more effective protection from armour (see russian tanks), but it also leaves less room for other things like safe ammo stowage (see russian tanks sending their turrets into space). Tank crews are 3 for russia (autoloader turrets) vs 4 for most others (they have a loader).
Should say, big volume mech looks cool, big volume tank looks goofy.
Did @thomberg disappear is he ok?
Sent you a message offering to loan you my KS stuff for unboxing videos, never heard back. 😢
Where did you send? We did get a couple offers and tried to respond to all - thank you for your thoughtfulness but we are declining all these offers. Thank you for your thoughtfulness!
The warrior looks really bad arse compared to actual stats
Same with the skulker
That Ontos has ugly mold lines on the turret. Also the top lasers look a little warped or something.
the tanks DONT use the same armour as mechs
Sure they do. They get 16 points per ton for standard armor. They get ferro fibrous etc. It’s the same.

Haha no, not at all. He’ll be around for some reviews soon! Just how the scheduling works sometimes (also he may be annoyed over the KS mess……)
Oh, that's good. Any chance of another painting video?
@Atomicmurph maybe! We’ll see what 2025 brings.
