    He's overshadowed by Rivera but the guy was a complete rockstar in San Diego and had he played in a different era, he would have been the same rockstar throughout the league.

      +Define Ram That's what I said? Had he played when Rivera didn't, Hoffman still would have dominated and probably would've received more due.

      Tough call, the 1970s and 1980s had guys like Goose, Fingers, Quiz, and Sutter. First half of the 1990s would be his best bet.

      Aaron Seidl Hell’s Bells just adds a different tone. It’s so suspenseful to hear those bells, it’s like a funeral for the opposing team 😂

    Rivera may be the greatest closer, but Hoffman is a surefire number two. Still an all-time great for the city of San Diego and baseball.
    Also, Hells Bells is a perfect anthem for a closer.

      Had the guy responded I would have used WHIP and ERA to explain why Hoffman wasn't close to Mo's level.

      @Mr. Fuzzyman To get in the 3rd ballot is pretty darn good. Very few ever get in on the 1st ballot. Only two relief pitchers to get that honor are Eck and Rivera. Hoffman wasn't as great as those two.

      @@randalnihei9764 No guarantee since it took Goose almost forever to get there and he had pitched for the Yankees. Plus Hoffman underperforms in the postseason which doesn't help his case.

    Man I loved going to petco as a kid and watching him come out to those bells 🔔 I’m 25 now and I can proudly say I’m a padres season ticket member bc of players like Hoffman and khalil that made watching it so fun for me

    If Hoffman had played on teams half as good as the Yankees, he would be the saves leader by a country mile. Rivera was good, but he played on a 2 decade dynasty.

      Rivera posted better ERA and WHIP bud, he wasn't the best because of his saves numbers, it's how he earned the saves. Plus you don't get saves from closing blowout games.

    Let's be real, if he played for the yankees, people wouldn't be so quick to point out Rivera. Padres have been garbage to average for over 20 years since their collapse in the world series.
