Sales are interesting--it is quite easy to get caught up in the pace and energy. It takes patience and experience, but overall I think a nice Ayrshire is not a flop.
No kidding!! I was surprised at the temptation online ha! I have been to a few in person auctions but all beef cattle and not as tempting for me. I couldn’t believe the big lovely producers coming through the sale! Def learned a lot! Thanks for the comment.
Congrats on your cow buying experience, seems like you handled it in stride. There are some things in life that one needs to experience to understand, lol. Kudos to you for using it to shape your future decisions. The barn is definitely brighter, nice upgrade.
😊Wisconsin farmer here. Withee Premiere is just 30 min from me. Ww have wome fantastic dairy cows up here ans Airshires are wonderful little cows. Jerseys are unfortunately getting harder to find evern in WI. The dairy industry is pushing huge production that means Jerseys are being pushed out. My daughter and i are doing our best to keep Jerseys going here. If you want A2/A2 i can hook you up with a trusted Jersey A2 breeder. PLZ get your Airshire tested 75% of them are A2
Hi there!! Oh I’m so jealous! I’d be in trouble if I lived that close! I sent off milk for A2 testing and am crossing fingers. I’m in the market for spring calving A2 Jerseys but I don’t think I’ll be going back to WI. I found some about 6hrs from us in Mo. is your connection in WI?
Guaranteed if you lightly rub a small handful of salt just inside her female part, Kitty will strain for a short time, introduce any calf and she will mother it immediately. Will not affect her current pregnancy, 100% successful with stale milkers . Doesn’t work on freshly calved cows. Regards from an old Aussie dairy farmer
@@Oliver880-eg8szthat’s awesome! I’ll check em out! I am fond of Jerseys! I have 3 and I think I’ll probably stick with the breed. I just have an affinity for them. Thanks for the info!

Schwitty is an exceptional breeder. You happed into a couple of phenomenally bred balanced genetics.
I did get lucky! I’ve been able to stay in touch with them and they’ve been so helpful!

You’re alright, Mrs. Smith. I’m sure it will work out for you.
So far it’s worked out alright! Hopefully that continues!

Are you meaning that this is to help her accept a calf that is not hers?? So interesting....
Correct.

I can hear it now. "Honey, I bought a cow."
Pretty much!! Haha I called and was like “ummm….. I bought 2 cows…. And they’re in Wisconsin….”
Use Brown Swiss if you want a great cow for taking on calves. I had one that would accept 4 calves at a time.
I’ve had good luck with my Jerseys taking on calves 😊 but I think it really depends on the cow and not the breed.

My boss has Guernsey A2 A2 cow for sale we are from Northwest Wisconsin.
He sells all over the USA and Canada.
I’m in the market for some A2A2 cows but think I’m going to stick with Jerseys. I love them 🥰
@@smithsridge okay sounds good 👍
No…..extra protein to slow down production. Course dry hay, empty fiber
True! We feed an 18% dairy ration and they get brome and alfalfa. I used to feed bermuda (bc it was all i could find) but too much fiber!
