  • I have a confession to make - I bought two Chinese-direct mountain bike frames. I'm not sorry. Should you consider buying a cheaper Chinese bike from eBay? Yes, I think it makes sense for some. For beginners it's a gamble, but if you're handy it can work out.
    One carbon full suspension XC frame and aluminum FS enduro frame later I'm still positive on the price-to-performance ratio. They might be the best budget mountain bikes you can buy.

      Thank you for sharing the link! Do you happen to have the parts list you used for your final build? I noticed you added a Wolf Tooth headset; it looks like some of the components on your bike are higher-end. I really enjoy your channel and find your videos very informative!

    I bought my XC(light trail setup) from ICAN.
    No pun intended, I can 100% recommend buying from them. Haven had a problem. And the service was perfect.

      ICAN is like the premiere Chinese carbon dealer for sure. I don't think you can go wrong with them. You'll pay a little more but you get a warranty.

    Been looking for a new xc bike. Contenders are the Cervelo ZFS and Mach 4sl but I'll probably get a $600 chiner knockoff Epic Evo.

      Yeah it's a cost/benefit thing for many. If you don't care about a brand sticker on your bike it certainly makes it easier.

    Hello there! I'm torn between the ICAN P1, Trifox, Airwolf, DYI or BXT carbon and the Himalo AL bike frame. I'm particularly drawn to the geometry of your Himalo. I'm grappling with whether to invest an extra $200 for carbon or opt for an aluminum frame and upgrade components. At the end is the Himalo a good frame? At the end is weight really important for the weekend trail rider? Your insights would be immensely valuable in helping me make the right decision for my purchase and bike build. Thank you in advance for any guidance you can provide!

    • @VisionMTB
      @VisionMTB  8 місяців тому +1

      Well I think in my case I went aluminum because I wanted a sturdy frame that I wouldn't have to baby. My carbon is fine, no problems and it's 25.2lbs. You can feel the difference throwing it around. The Himalo is a nice frame with modern geometry so if you're fine with the weight it's a solid deal. The frame should be about 8.5lbs or so.

      @VisionMTB Thank you! I think I would be freaking out every time I crash or when my frame hits a rock. I already freak out when I chip on my hardtail.

    I am riding a Giant Stance 2 29 and I am in need for a good bike, are these frames good and should I get them for aggressive riding?

    • @VisionMTB
      @VisionMTB  8 місяців тому +1

      Funny, my wife has a 2023 Stance and I'd say that frame is super close in design to the Himalo. The Giant is more polished and has a better paint job but getting a frame only from them is unlikely.

    Do you know where I can find a Chinese hardtail frame for trail riding? Thanks

      Check AliExpress or eBay. Once you find a model you're interested in, do a Google search for reviews.

    2:24 Frame construction looks good. But not a fan of a kinked seat tube, as it limits insertion depth of the dropper post.
    Not a bike I would buy, but not complete trash. But I'm sure this is far better than the 2014 Trek Fuel EX I had, super flexy, bearings got pushed out, RD hanger bent on every ride. So that bike had to go.

      @VisionMTB I'm thinking about putting mine back together as well. It's a 29er from a company by the name of Carbonal or something like that🤔
      I'm thinking about turning it into a full suspension cycle cross bike.

    Can u share links of legit sellers on eBay, aliexpress or whatever place u bought from? I need to get my 12 yrs old a decent FS. But I don't want to spend too much money. Thanks

      Honestly I'd go with a Polygon Siskui D5 for $699 for a 12yo. It's a heck of a deal. You might be able to cobble one together cheaper from Ali but not by much at this point.

    0:57 super long stem, steep head angle, short reach, that can't ride well. I'm glad geometry has changed.

      Totally. I've switched it up a bit and it's definitely better. There's one trail by me with narrow passes through trees so that makes it interesting.
