Golden Gukesh D destroys Fedoseev's London System

- Featured is an excellent chess game between Vladimir Fedoseev and Gukesh D from the 45th Chess Olympiad Budapest 2024. This is a model game against the London System. In response to Fedoseev's London System, Gukesh deploys his light-squared bishop outside the pawn chain much like you'd see with the Caro-Kann. Moreover, with Gukesh's c-pawn arriving on c5 in one move we have a sort of accelerated version of the Caro-Kann with tension remaining on d4. Fedoseev's early attempt to pressure Gukesh's queen knight with a pin are addressed in an efficient way that soon results in a queenless endgame. Although the computer evaluation reads equal after 11 moves, it is Gukesh who can try to pursue an advantage since he has the bishop pair. Pay special attention to Gukesh's instructive pawn play and how they significantly diminish the quality of Fedoseev's minor pieces. Gukesh's win in this 11th and final round of the Olympiad was an additional exclamation mark to a fantastic performance. Gukesh scored 9/10 without a loss, earned 30 FIDE points, won team gold for India, won individual gold for board 1, and had a remarkable performance rating of 3056!! Gukesh D is completely on fire and almost certainly the favorite in his upcoming World Chess Championship match against Ding Liren.

Your explanation of the games is second to none.
thats why i prefer watching chessnetwork than agadmator
Truly superb
What is the meaning of the phrase
Second to none?
Second to nothing, basically first@@abictor3312
@@abictor3312 that means Jerry's analysis is on top. 1st in line, 2nd to no one.
I hope you review Gukesh-Wei Yi game as well.
Also brilliant analysis as always.
Gukesh's 3056 performance is the second highest performance ever in the entire history of all Chess tournaments, only Fabi had a better performance in 2014 Sinquefield Cup at 3098. Magnus's best performance is 3002 in a tournament in 2009 and is 5th highest. Arjun's 2968 performance in Olympics 2024 is 11th highest in Chess history. So probably we watched something really historic.
You know what you watched Great Indian GMs Arjun and Gukesh on fire throughout tournament great team effort from team India 🇮🇳
Remarkable 👍❤️
Fabi is 8.5/10 in that 2014 Olympiad game, but gukesh is 9/10 in this Olympiad .
@@ManiS-wd2euTPR or performance rating is a weighted average based on the strengths of one's opponents. On average Fabi played higher rated players.
Also Magnus doesn't just have the 5th spot for highest ever TPR but also the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th spots as well. His consistency at his peak was truly terrifying for anyone he played.
What Gukesh achieved is for sure monumental and I think he has great GOAT potential but just wanted to give some background about the monsters he'll have to surpass to get there.
@@hahahasan Yeah, that's true but Gukesh achieved this performance rating at the youngest age compared to all others. So, sky is the limit for him. Just needs continue putting good performances, learning and more importantly just remain humble and focused. I see, he can be a long term number 1 and world champion, specially because of his fighting spirit.
I loved how all his tactics were defended, they didn't happen on the board, but white slowly got worse while busy defending all those threats. You are a great coach. Thank you.
Thank you for the compliment Phoenix. 👍
the reason most players don't improve their game is because they prefer flashy chess streamers intead of Jerry's no-nonsense youtube channel... 👍🇲🇽
Gukesh had a performance of 3000+ in this tournament
That was already mentioned in the video.
Can't wait for Kramnik to report him for cheating xD
He won't because he teained gukesh when he was younger
Great attack from Gukesh he plays fantastic Classical Chess he has a great focus and plays with determination he’s not intimidated by other elite GMs he feels he can compete on the highest level my favorite player a scholar and gentleman he will make a Great world champion I can not picture him being denied Thanks Jerry 😊♟️‼️🏆🇮🇳
Scholar and gentlemen. Well said 👍
Wonderful game, thank for commentary !
This is the third version of the game analysis I watched and I liked it the most. Gukesh played it beautifully, stunning performance.
Please review Gukesh Wei Yi
Long game but was an important one
amazing, thank you
I watched this game twice, once with Agadmator commentary and analysis, once again with chess network and they both are great
Not really accelerated Caro Kann, because white pawn is not on e4. More like an accelerated Slav.
I hope you're planning on covering the upcoming WCC it sure looks like history will be made
Looks like you're new.
@@SR-fs2fd been watching this channel for 10 years. I know he hasn't missed a wcc yet
woot!
Never play f6 unless you play f6.
Very nicely annotated game, Congratulations GM Gukesh, Thanks sir for appreciation of Gukesh, Indians r proud about him after goden Olympiad, everyone wishing him now big golden Chess king crown 🎉🎉❤❤
A very smooth win in a brilliant performance. Thanks Jerry.
Great video as usual Jerry. I see plenty of London Systems online so the early ...Bg4 & then ...Nfd7 idea to cover the e5-square was useful and interesting. Alas, I didn't find Gukesh's ...f6 but you never know one day I might get near to a 98% accuracy game one day as well!?
Thanks for your deep analysis Jerry. Please analyze more games from the Olympiad
Jerry, why don't you upload blitz sessions anymore? Their my favourite
Gukesh plays like the youngest world chess champion ever. “A new power is rising in the east…”
Great great analysis thank you for making video.
Very beautiful explaining of the game, thanks a lot 👍
Gukesh is a phenomenon..a force of nature
Another gem, thanks!! Great insights
Best explanation of the game.
Superb evaluation!
Awesome explanation.

Brilliant game😮
Superb game from Gukesh and very nicely explained.
Certainly enjoyed the amazing analysis. Thanks a ton.
Pls do analyze Gukesh Vs Wei
Any title with “ destroys… London System,” and I click.
A brilliant game by Gukesh..He is turning out to be best chess player in the world..
Very good explanation and a very well played game.
5:52 for a split second, I thought Jerry was gonna say: she [the queen] is watching from the SKY 🤣
Surely the next world champion
Im still shocked by that 3000+ performance, the world championship is gona be good!
Great content always und a really great game!!! Thx for sharing. Poor Ding Liren, though I am a big fan of Ding he will have no chance against him.
Gukesh is awesome..future world champion.
Scary perfornance by Gukesh in the tournament for sure. The new WC incoming.
Great instruction form great Merry ❤❤
thanks for the two tips about the rook positions and the knight-king-diagonal (3 steps for the knight to give check). please more of that :)
I haven’t faced the London since I started playing C5 immediately against D4, inviting a Benoni. The games are more enjoyable…
Will you ever perform 3 check chess again? I really loved your videos with that, it also put me to sleep!
Our world champion is super
D is his surname of course he destroys..
Very beautiful analysis 👍
Wow type explanation
Great vidya thankye
Deep
Considering his age, it might be even possible for him to break carlsen's rating record or maybe even be the first one to break 2900 if he can have another breakthrough.
Only if he could beat magnus atleast 6 times
"Ceterum censeo Londinium delendum esse" - it's always a treat for me to see this hideous system getting destroyed.
Your explanation is good but feels slow.
@@ankur67678 Jerry makes videos for people who have attention spans and we love him for it. He takes time to explain details and nuance because those things are important to him and his audience.
If you want flashy fast and superficial the internet already has plenty of that for you
Is there a reason you’ve never done a game review of like chessbrah’s? I feel a lot of mutual followers would love watching!
1:00 "Accelerated Caro Kann" is probably a misleading description; - the black setup is a Queen's Gambit (declined) Reversed, in its most classical fashion. And, after white's Qa4 the game has a strong resemblance to a Cambridge Springs (reversed), just with the Bf4 already outside the pawn chain.
It’s not exact for sure. It’s close. A tension release away with cxd exd brings it more into focus.
See, I was also thinking about that, whether it's apt to call it a "caro kann" ish setup when white hasn't played e4 and black has played the ...c5 break directly instead of ...c6 and then ...c5, and their knight placed optimally on Nc6 instead of Nbd7.
Then I saw your comment about the resemblance to a reversed QG setup which made me think perhaps the comment by Jerry meant not exactly Caro-Kann but rather a 1...c6 line against 1.d4 which shares many thematic ideas with Caro Kann but Black has "accelerated" it by being a few tempo faster with the c5 break already played AND not had to play ...Nbd7 but rather ...Nc6, which is the more optimal setup as Black. Something like this: 1.d4 c6 2.Nf3 d5 3.Bf4 Bg4 4.Nbd2 e6 5.c3 Nf6 6.e3, where White's setup is the same as on that timestamp but Black is 2 tempi behind from having played ...c5 and ...Nc6
@@Anon_581 The relation between London and Caro Kann is rather: Should black, by own volition, release the tension in the center by c5:d4, e3:d4 then we would arrive in a Carlsbad structure, very typical for the Caro Kann exchange variation. 😉 - However, in the game black never felt any need for it.
