  • The Carli 4.5/5.5" Dominator System is hands down the most capable suspension system ever offered for the Super Duty platform. Want to out run a Raptor, tow a tailer and still drive in comfort down the street? It sounds impossible, but Carli somehow made it happen.

      @@CodeMoab It will absolutely do better if you've ever been in a stock Raptor in the dirt. There's just not enough shock control to do stuff like this in a stock Raptor without the truck feeling totally out of control. Some upgrades change that, but stock to this truck, the Raptor would fall short. We say that having done lots of side by side trips in Baja, including part of this video.

      Main thing is the weight of the diesel up front. I could maybe see the gas version hanging with a raptor but front end weight hurts pretty bad when doing raptor stuff. I done a gas conversion on my old truck out of necessity when my diesel blew and though I lost some pulling power it helped off road capability tremendously.

    You can really see the extra weight up front when getting airborne or nearly airborn with how quickly the nose dives. Many years ago I lived on a large cattle / sheep ranch in New Mexico. I had an F-150 with a 5.5” lift and 36” mud tires. The truck rode absolutely amazing on rough roades however if I got the truck airborn, it would dive and cause a double bounce. Back then all Incouks do was install double Rancho shocks on the front and rear (id make custom brackets to hold them at the correct angle for the twin I-beam style suspension of that time. Anyway in 1984, the price of gasoline was .90¢ a gallon. However Propane was .35-.40¢ per gallon. Quick note propan will have about 15% fewer mikes per gallon. The advantage was three fold.. (1) Much cleaner operation. The need to change oil was closer to 6000 miles vs 3000 of that era, (2) much lower price if purchased in bulk especially. We had two 5000 gallon tanks at the homestead, two 1000 gallon gas tanks and when needed a 1000 gallon diesel tank. (3) HERE was one of the best things about running propane. In my truck I had a 20-gallon gas tank and in the bed of the truck just behind the cab a mounted 60-gallon propane tank. When I ran the truck at very high off road speed, it would land almost flat or have a balanced front and rear suspension.
    Of course I lost 2.5’ of the 6.75 bed!

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  7 місяців тому +3

      Nope! That's normal behavior for a solid axle truck with a track bar that has over 10" of travel. The axle pivots around the frame side joint, which causes the axle to shift as the suspension cycles. Any solid axle radius/control arm truck with a track bar will do it!

    That from axle is definitely shifting to the drivers side at full extension. What’s the reason for that?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  6 місяців тому +1

      That's what solid axles do! The front axle moves side to side as the suspension cycles since the track bar is pivoting off of a fixed point on the frame. It will shift to the driver's side as the suspension droops, and passenger at full compression. With 10" of travel up front it's pretty noticeable.

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  6 місяців тому +9

      Which is normal. A track bar pivots around the frame mounting point, so the axle moves to the driver's side at full droop and passenger at full compression. This is true on any Ram, Ford, or other solid axle vehicle with a track bar and totally normal.

    How does this system work vs the E-Venture? I don't see an E-Click style controller in the parts list, so how does the system change between highway/on-road and high-speed off-road and rock crawling modes?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  5 місяців тому +2

      The Dominator system uses a static valved shock, so it doesn't respond actively to terrain like the E-Venture. Outside of this using a 3" diameter vs the 2.5" used in the E-Venture, static vs dynamic valving is the other big difference between the shock packages. The goal of this system is to be as off road capable as possible. If you aren't pushing your truck like what's shown in the video, then the E-Venture will be a better fit.

      @@CJCOffRoad I have the 4.5 Dominator kit, finned reservoir, long travel bags, Apex parts, and various other components-all purchased directly from your site. I was reaching out for assistance with some Apex steering install issues and fitment. (correct) When I called, I was hoping to schedule a slot 2-3 months out or more to bring my truck in, to get everything ready for a hard drive to Baja, just needed support from the pros-CJC, and to purchase/install the trophy hitch and additional parts. This wasn't just a random steering issue call from a random person or parts unknown. That would be silly. I'm sure you guys get an overload of nonsense calls and requests-I totally understand, trust me.
      I’m fairly certain I spoke with Ben in sales twice-once about the 4.5 order time frame after purchase and again regarding the steering issue we're discussing now. Whoever the grumpy, semi-monotone sales guy is who sounds like you're bothering him on the phone (I’m sure you would know) brushed it off stating, "That's not what CJC does," etc., and said he would get info then call back or email, but never did. As a long-time supporter and core part of the audience that actually buys the parts, it simply was what it was. That's the customer service component I'm referring to. He also mentioned he pulled up my order history during the call. I stated as well I have no prob paying for any shop hours in relation to steering work/help . I don’t know him personally, so I have no further input. But his approach risks tarnishing the hard-earned reputation and brand excellence you guys have built. And makes it really hard to buy more parts! Just my honest take. Also, the comment was in no way meant to get a response. I've resolved the issue on my own. One bad sales guy does not reflect a company as a whole. Feel free to delete this. And send email if preferred. I'm not here to throw shade in the comments.

    If an FX4 can do that why spend the extra $ for the Tremor?

      @realistic.optimist I did the same with my Ram, bought a base and upgraded everything else I care about. Saved me close to 20k because I got a worktruck over a limited. Use the extra money for making it a functional work truck.

      Doesn’t the tremor have a couple electronic 4x4 extras like hill decent and something else? If so can those be unlocked with forescan or is it exclusive to the tremor?

    I guess if you can afford an $80,000 - $120,000 truck you can also afford a $10,000++ Carli suspension system 😅

    80% of these are going on cartel trucks and thats been true sense the beginning lol. the other 20% are going on security contractors trucks and i bet i know who they contract with loooool.

    Should've been a 3.0 coilover with a 2.5 bypass shock upnfront and 3.0 or 3.5 bypasses in the rear with deavers.

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  5 місяців тому +1

      The issue is travel. There's not enough space to fit a coil over up front without significant suspension travel reduction unless you weld on a new coil bucket, which isn't really something most people want to do on their new truck!

      @CJCOffRoad you guys can always prototype a kit on my 06' f350 Amarillo chase truck. Currently on just a Carli spring and 2.0 fox.

      @CJCOffRoad  5 місяців тому

      Oh if you have an 06 we offer a coil over bypass setup! The 05-16 trucks have riveted coil buckets, so Carli offers a complete replacement fabricated bucket that bolts in to accept all the shock options you could dream of: www.cjcoffroad.com/collections/carli-2005-2016-ford-suspension-systems-2

      @CJCOffRoad guess you guys should sponsor an unchained system for my truck 😂, I'd use every bit of its capabilities. Whoops and g-outs aren't fun with the little 2.0s.
      I still have room on the truck for a big CJC decal.
      Would make a sick build episode for you guys too!

      Full Force Diesel sponsored Fuel system.

    How many people can actually afford the new truck AND then afford all the extras to “upgrade” it all to just destroy it on a dirt road? Can’t be that many

    • @CJCOffRoad

      To be fair, this truck is by no means destroyed. The suspension means you can do stuff like this and not damage the truck, which is exactly why there's value in doing it. If you have to drive oil field roads daily, you're preserving your truck with nice suspension rather than making yourself miserable and rattling the truck to pieces with stock suspension. To a lot of people, upgrades like this are a vital improvement to make daily usage more enjoyable.
