Watching extremists chat nonchalantly about how extreme they are and then trade theories about how to most accurately psychoanalyze non-extreme people is a very weird and awkward experience. “Now why on Earth would so many people not be loony conspiracy theorists who relish the thought of murdering cops???” “Dunno: must be the Dunning-Kruger Effect, I guess.”

Ikr. Now I'm no Destiny fan, I was just curious what his take on this would be. I was expecting him to say, idk, at least _something_ of substance this entire time, especially about the stuff regarding himself and his involvement in everything, and yet, he said almost nothing, seemed to ignore almost everything said, sped through most of it, and seemed more interested and focused on this dumb game taking up the whole screen, and someone sending him some music thing on Twitter, than actually engaging with the video, talking about what he either agreed or disagreed with, or maybe providing more context or something. I think at most, he did that like, twice in the entire video.
I don't watch Destiny, and after this, I don't think I'd watch him again, because this was _beyond_ boring. Might as well go back to the original SFO video, because then at least I wouldn't be expecting any additional info that I won't get.

If you went up to an everyday person that wasn’t brainrotted from being terminally online, and showed them one of his sweatier tweets (e.g. the burning cross), they’d probably be pretty put-off. Gain a function is a type of medical research that genetically alters an organism in a way that may enhance the biological functions of gene products, imparting it a trait it didn't have before. The WHY we doing that research could be for noble reasons like trying to predict possible evolutions so we have countermeasures ready, or it could be more nefarious reasons, like creating a biological weapon. It is a tool, just like a gun, which can protect or do harm depending on how it is used. Sadly, yes. Science is now about manipulating smart people into supporting a topic, not about presenting facts and letting people make up their own mind. And then letting those smart people convince dumb people into supporting the smart people, and by extension, that topic. And that's the BEST that Science has become. Far too often it's not about manipulating smart people into supporting something, but manipulating charismatic people into supporting a topic, and letting those charismatic people charm other people into supporting that topic. Or convincing very specific people in positions of power where they can have the most impact, regardless of their charm or intelligence. (ie: Business Executives, Politicians, Philanthropists, Influencers, etc.)
The actual science is virtually irrelevant. If you feel good about "sex" being a "spectrum", you can find "scientific literature" to support you. If you feel good about "saving babies" by "proving" that a fetus is a human being, you can find "scientific literature" to support you. If you feel that climate change is real, you can find "scientific literature" to support a whole spectrum of beliefs, from "It's all-natural and no human impact" to "we're all gonna die in 2030" supported in the "scientific literature". Habitat loss is your thing? You can support fragmented habitats being best AND single large habitats being best. And in almost all cases, the science itself is sound enough that you don't debate the science. We debate these by attacking the people who did the "science" and the people who support the "science" - the "science" itself is essentially irrelevant. "Scientist A went on Network A, they're obviously biased and should be discounted!" "Scientist B was funded by Big Oil, they're obviously biased and should be discounted!", "Scientist C is employed by the FDA after being on the board of a Big Pharma company.... um... crap." Or we dismiss the ENTIRE scientific argument based on the "Fruit of the Poisoned Tree" idea (ie: the idea behind he research is flawed so nothing the research finds is worth debating). And in either case, the science is left to the wayside.
And then we pick the side that makes us feel better.

You know that wouldn’t actually be good enough. What needs to happen is the content needs to transform. If I get the same thing from this video as I would get from the original creator, then the content has not been transformed. And the marker for transformative critique is a lot higher than just saying ‘that’s good that’s bad’. I won’t fault him to harshly for being bad at reacting, but to the degree that this isn’t transformative, yes this is a very bad thing. Fair use requires substantive transformation, this ain’t it

51:31 I dunno about arch Warhammer but Sargon has been involved in a ton of inter right wing drama over the years. Maybe he wasn’t the source of it just the victim?
I’m not ready to put Sargon in some special category all his own. Like would he accept anti capitalist fans?

Dude went full anti capitalist & anti America a while back so probably yes.
The last few years has been amusing to say the least as an outsider looking in. As his old fans say "Sargon was fun & interesting to listen to, Carl is a bummer who actively hurts to listen too"
If you don't know he goes by Carl online post 20019 or so.
Arch from everything I've seen is a pretty normal English right wing person, which probably why he ends up scraping with the black pilled rightiods & radicalized Doom sayers.

Let me grant Carl claims his desire to see America become an all white, secular religious Monarchy, is him being pro American. I think his logic is flawed to say the least.
Do you still listen too him? Because like everything I'm talking about is in the last 2 years or so.

Arch Warhammer is a very standard Norwegian right winger, in that he agrees with most of social democracy in principle but wants rollbacks in taxes and regulation. He is considerably more centrist than most of the people he pals around with on both the left and right, which includes the Golden One of all people, but Arch has a fondness for extremely spicy racial humor that keeps coming back to bite him in the ass again and again. Because he is an easier target than the big political channels, being primarily a warhammer channel himself, he’s been subjected to a years long harassment campaign of mass flagging his content, brigading of his social media, angry callouts by employees at CA and other UA-camrs, and allegedly in one instance hacking his account and handing his youtube channel over to some Korean scammers that got it deleted. The guy has been utterly algorithmically screwed, lost most of his income from youtube and has gone back to his regular job only uploading occasionally.
In case you want to know his crimes:
In 2016 he made a half hour video about the gnoblars kept by the ogres in Warhammer where he joked their nose would make anyone of a certain group of people proud. He also later in the video said the ogres keep some of the gnoblars in a manner akin to house n-words from human history. He deleted the video years ago but people still clip out those two sections for the soundbites of racism.
In 2018 on his Discord channel he made a joke about the 19th century forced reeducation of the Sami indigenous minority in Norway and suggested maybe Norway should have done like the Americans instead and just shot them. This is probably the most egregious statement he has made, but I hardly think any regular viewer of his aren’t familiar enough with his humor to realize he wasn’t actually advocating shooting the Sami.
In 2020 some of his moderators from his Discord were revealed to hold racist views and allow the use of slurs in the server, but he refused to fire them unless someone could have shown them actually harassing someone.
That’s pretty much all of it, besides the usual Platforming Nazis accusations since he has allowed Sargon and the Golden One to join his gaming podcasts now and again. It’s… a situation I feel conflicted by all around. I do not endorse any racism of course, but most of it was clearly jokes and only one of the incidents actually happened on UA-cam. It seems a bit extreme to hound him about this for years and continue to try to destroy his online presence when he is *the best* Warhammer lore channel, even if none in the Warhammer community will admit it and the other channels reject him. It especially leaves a bitter taste in the mouth when many of the same people denouncing him love JonTron and have forgiven him fully, when he was and is far, far to the right of Arch and was genuinely racist too. It seems okay in that situation because Jon is funny and also can be used for clout, unlike Arch, which they tossed to the wayside.
