@custa so at 38:34 where u say everyone has leveld up and it forces mistakes out of shock that previously they wouldn't get punished for, is it like the same thing for London Spitfire where hurricane didn't have to play perfect but is now having to fix mistakes that didn't get punished before?(obviously skillgap between shock and spitfire but same principle)
I don't think FdGod is bad or played bad. I think the problem is that he is a little too new to this roster and there is no trust between the two supports, and the rest of the team for that matter. I feel like synergy is lacking, he is trying to make up for the lack of synergy with skill and game logic, but it can only go so far against the top teams. I do believe Violet had a bad game against the reign. I saw him make some crucial mistakes(?) misplays(?) during this match. Perhaps he isn't too used to Moira's role for this comp.
I am no shock fan (as you can see by my Profile pic) , but I can tell you one thing for sure, even if you don't like every player on the team, you NEVER shit talk YOUR favourite team for not performing. If you do, you are no fan, you are a heckler, and tormentor. That moment when they struggle is when you should RALLY around them and give them support, not tear them down. We know the players are talented and put hours into the game every day of every week. Give them the credit and respect they deserve. If you don't even respect all the players you are discussing, keep your thoughts to yourself. Not everyone may have earned your admiration, but EVERYONE in this league has worked hard to get where they are, even Krystal, FDgod, Silver3, and ChangSik just to name a few, and NEVER disregard the amount of time, dedication and the mental it requires to become some of the best in the world at anything.
These bandwagon fans are truly sad and pathetic. I remembered a couple of people in live chat bashing the Atlanta Reign before the match, and quickly supported the team once SF lost. What's more, is that they instantly blame FDGod on Twitter. Nero had to even put out a statement about these people. smh
@Grant Robertson exactly your rooting for a team that means not an individual and overwatch is a team based game. Yes you can lose matches because 1 person played very bad, but then it's up to the other teammates to support, adjust or make up for it. Your a fan/supporter of a team not a fan/hater of a team when they lose. If the team your rooting for loses, support them not hate them. Hating on them doesn't do shit except make them feel worse, can affect mentally and ultimately to your team playing even worse then before.
I remember being an old London fan from day 1 of the first season, and I am glad that they won that year but the fans we got after were so fucking bad, honestly sorta glad london are "bad" this year because they are all gone :D
this video and the dallas v glads video really demonstrate one of the reasons why Custa won the Dennis Hawelka award like just "You know what the easiest solution is? to just not shit on anybody" so simple yet it made me smile so much
I throw a little bit of more blame on to crusty than onto fdgod. When crusty picked up fdgod he wanted to coach him into a super smart player with the mechanics of a superstar like fdgod. But crusty failed to see the problem of having two super aggressive supports. Lots of times the best teams have one aggressive support and one passive support. But now the shock have 2 aggressive supports that don’t mesh well together.
This I agree with! I think others are also the blame but I don’t see enough talk about selection of players and the impact that has because to have the best team you don’t need each player to be the best in the world. You just need the right players that fit together. Rather than be mad at FDgod, be mad at the fact he’s probably not on the right team for him. I think a trade with the glads would be super cool.
I agree and disagree, I personally think you are right, but it is also FDgod's fault a little more than you think. As you see he's not preforming up to his expectations, that is probably due to some old habits that he can't shake off, and he might not be taking the coaching into mind a lot, he is used to playing with another team that has another style than Shock, I think the blame is more equal than you think!

shock isn't "washed" as much as this is definitely a growing pains/transitional year for them. a lot of ppl were denying it early on, saying it was just a slow start and they'll come back angry and blahblahblah, but the fact of the matter is, they lost some good players and some good assistant coaches. a lot of the preexisting shock players (and maybe staff, but who knows-- im just a rando) seem to assume that they can do things the way that used to work for them-- throwing in ults when down 3 players, for example. that used to work for them, because they had so much synergy and TRUST as a team. that takes time to build, and they had the time and space to build it. this year, there's way less games and way more dangerous teams to face up against. things that might be a reflex or instinct for the core older players aren't so instinctual for the new players. this leads to team-wide mistakes, as there's a disconnect. especially since things that might be reflex or instinct to the older players might not work anymore with the new set of players and their styles of playing! everyone needs to exercise new "muscles", so to speak: the new players have to continue learning how to fit in with the team, and the old players have to recognize when old habits might not be so helpful anymore. finally, i really really hope the new players are doing ok mentally and have some resilience (and if they need help, that they can easily get the help they need from their team/staff without feeling bad about it). i also really hope there's no resentment from the older players towards the newer ones when disconnects DO happen.
I feel like instead of bashing / insulting specific players, it would be a much more useful and positive experience if these people just complimented the other team that won for playing well instead... Although the Shock made some mistakes, it's also due to the ATL playing really well in the end too. These people that decide to throw the blame onto FD God and Nero is truly disgusting and I'm glad that Custa is able to give more perspective from the players' POV such as the early beat on Nepal.
I’m so glad Custa defended the new guys. They were ok. It’s the whole team who weren’t ready but if you want to blame someone, my plat ranking would blame violet, so many mistimed ults and overly aggressive dps Moira in the first 2 maps
I think people need to start thinking that Crusty may not be as good of a coach as everyone thinks. Junkbuck joined at the same time as Crusty and now he joins the Outlaws with a less talented roster and is bringing great improvements to them.
Yeah its starting to seem like the real mastermind on why sfshock was so coordinated and such a good unit was Junkbuck I mean if you think about it the Outlaws are even playing that team style that the shock was praised for
@@dragon-fy7ed They picked up agape and casores to replace junkbuck/ninek core they had in 2019... agape was the head coach of the garbage london team last season and casores was in eu contenders when shock gave him a spot. I've been a shock fan since season one. I've seen their successes and failures. It's not that they 'suddenly suck" its more some teams have gotten better and SF is going through growing pains with neero and fd finding their footing. It's hard to do in ranked, imagine doing it at the highest level every week against stacked teams
I think part of the problem the Shock are having is they didn’t make any roster changes. They sat content with the roster that won the champ last year, which is a fantastic roster, while everyone else was making upgrades and adding new players.
They still have one of the best if not the best roster in the league, top ana, bap, Lucio, echo, tanks, tracer. With the roster they have they should be able to preform to a extremely high level in pretty much any meta. Also they did make roster changes except in the tank department. They added glister, Nero fdgod
@@Siks7Ate9 You’re absolutely right. They should be performing better than they are. Still one of the top rosters in the league. IMO, FD, Nero, and Glister are not upgrades over who they replaced. They are all fantastic players and are not downgraded. But every other team was making upgrades and signing hot new rookies.
@@braydenash6529 I agree they are not upgrades and in terms of glister Vs Ans it's a downgrade but that's just because Ans is just a nutcase. The added players just play differently in terms of synergy and imo violet is trying to hardcarry waaay to much and getting punished for it as well.
@@Siks7Ate9 Big facts. They’re still playing like they’re far and away the best team like last year but the competition has ramped up big time this year and they’re getting punished
As a shock fan it’s just really sad to see the team struggle like this. The team is completely out of sync, they went 4-0 i know but when you test their limits and adaptability they just break, hope next tournament without bans they can get back in form. Currently they are good but with 0 ability to adapt to unexpected situations
Just for the record, you are pronouncing Masaa's name wrong. It should be Masa but he said on his stream he doesn't care how people pronounce it. His name used to be TappoMasa666 which means KillerMasa666, but when he got signed to Gigantti he had to change it. The name Masa was taken everywhere so he just added an extra a but it's still pronounced Masa.
At 56:31 maybe they can just shoot at pelican or masaa atleast once per fight instead of diving 4 people while u get melted quite literally from an echo(beam) behind you
What nero could have done is peaked the orisa stickied fell back into the tunnel immediately till he had ult but that is also hindsight knowing pelican was looking at high ground still
I think Shock didn't play differently, they lost because they couldn't adapt and change their play style Viol2t maintained his aggressive style and heavily got punished because Reign was ready for it They have the one of the best rosters in the league but their inflexibility caused the loss
talk about fans as an atlanta fan and a fan of all their sports imagine what it feels like to be a hawks falcons and braves fan. As a reign fan i cant celebrate until it says we have won. I was still sweating after we were up 2-0. Choking is in the DNA of atlanta sports just a relief to not have to worry about that.
I watch all things ATL, and I feel you. In CoD last season they choked Grand Finals against Dallas, and while they’re the most dominant team, this is Atlanta, they choke when it matters. I’m just glad Reign, which has been middle of the pack for so long, is finally showing up and got into the tournament
I would like to address the Dreamer over Jjangu on Houston. Jjangu is one of the best main tanks in the league and excels at Winston and Rein. The Outlaws don't like the Winston right now, it probably isn't good for the rest of the team for them. They prefer Orisa as the main tank and in their eyes (and mine and a lot of others) Dreamer is the better Orisa, that's why Dreamer is coming in for Jjangu a lot now.
Do you think there's something wrong that no number one team has made it in May or June and all the 4-0 teams have lost in the qualifiers? What's the incentive to do well in the regular season?
It's more like there's a HUGE incentive to be super good in playoffs. The playoffs are very different emotionally and some teams have stronger mentals so they win
The problem with Shock is that despite beliefs, they refuse to learn from their mistakes. During the May Melee qualifyers, they did all their preparations for Outlaws, not caring about anyone else. Then they got swept by Dallas Fuel. During the June Joust qualifyers, they did all their preparations for Dallas not caring about anyone else. Then they got swept by Atlanta Reign. With prep, they can take down any team. Which is why they beat Fuel during week 3 of June Joust.
And they still play like nobody is on their lvl, trying to outskill enemies and win fights, that are already lost if the enemy team executes right, which they (enemy) didnt do that often the last years in NA. I agree with what u say, they dont have this perfect „system“ they had before, where swapping main tanks, supports and dps made no difference in the lvl of teamwork and coordination. Loosing moth is a big reason for this „downgrade“ of ingame coordination and ninek and junkbug are exceptional coaches that also arent there anymore. Great games to see their system failing earlier is last year in I think loss to valiant and glads, where they didnt play moth and swapped sinatraa zarya and achitect ana if im correct. I still believe in Crusty but Dragons got fckd by last years meta but already looked soo clean sometimes this season, still a Fate doubter though
Imo it's just a bs story to say that it wasn't that we got outskilled or outclassed by Dallas because we prepared for Houston. Dallas played so different from any other team that there was basically no way to even prepare for it as the desk said time and time again. Even if they had prepared, they probably would have lost to Dallas either way because Dallas just adjusts things on the fly all the time.
@@deviny I'm talking about in the June Joust. They thought it would be an easy win against whomever won between Atlanta and Boston. If they had won, they wouldve went up against Dallas.
Ahhh bad to see Shock lose 3-0 to Atlanta but at the same time i guess Atlanta are the better team in June Joust I wish Atlanta the best, hope they win the Joust
I think Shock needs to do an few things. First i would like Twilight over Viol2t because Twilight also heals an lot more. Sure you lose more damage output but damage is not the probleem. Maybe an Twilight and FDGod pairing will be better. Secondly I would stop putting Striker on characters like Ashe and cree and let Glister play instead. Idk why Glister is not playing the hitscan for this team but they need him. The more he plays the more confidence he gets.
I really dont understand why nobody seems to acknowledge Edison, hes just as good as kai IMO and as far as I remember he got a lot more playtime than him in the first half of the season
Imagine being a bandwagon success fan. I am not really a crazy fan of any team, but since OWL started i was, you could call it, Fuel sympathetic, simply because Seagull played on Fuel back then and he was the pro player i actively followed / watched streams and who basically got me interested in competitive OW in the first place. So maybe you could call me a Fuel fan and my god have we fuel fans suffered, but i never jumped to a successful team. But finally our suffering has ended and it feels good, even tho i am still waiting for the nightmare to begin again basically every match.
The San Fransisco Shock more like the San Francisco Choke (the new NYXL) .D Also ppl tend to put all the blame on FdGod. Why? I mean yes, he played bad, he knows that! He literally cried after they lost. He knew that was partly due to him. But it also has to be stated that Choi and Viol2t did not show up either. And I think the team still has an ongoing dps issue.
I wouldn’t place the blame so hard on fdgod. Pelican and Kai just did a really good job taking him down. He had a few bad plays, but a lot of his deaths were forced errors by the Reign.
IMO Viol2t, Choi and Striker did just as bad. Fundamentally there was also just a communication issue too. It’s not fair to just blame one player for a whole teams mistake.
@@andrewp2681 they did a good job because they hardly got pressured. Everyone is joking about pelican having an invisible echo skin. Shock seemed to be completely oblivious to what he was doing all game. All round a poor effort from the shock roster throughout.

Nero definitely could’ve gone down the stairs, fired stickies into gator and a few shots, have his ult and then copy Gator for super charger. FDGod was out of position a lot of the time, died first multiple times and fed. The shock were constantly at 5v6 the entire time. Everyone threw bad ult after bad ult to force their style, then lost. The synergy between healers doesn’t work with these two.
At 26 health, and 5 players down there, he would have died as soon as he shot the stickies. Plus he probably assumed that Pelican called out his position.

Saw this live on twitch, still gonna watch it 😎
These bandwagon fans are truly sad and pathetic.
The switch up is so obvious and so unfair to the players. It's really sad, you're completely right.
I remember being an old London fan from day 1 of the first season, and I am glad that they won that year but the fans we got after were so fucking bad, honestly sorta glad london are "bad" this year because they are all gone :D
Been an Atlanta fan since the beginning and I now worry that the bandwagoners are coming here. I definitely would rather them stay away.
this video and the dallas v glads video really demonstrate one of the reasons why Custa won the Dennis Hawelka award like just "You know what the easiest solution is? to just not shit on anybody" so simple yet it made me smile so much
This gave me a better understanding of what actually happened :D Nice video!
@@westont3945 very good and interesting point!
@Luke McHale I think you make a good point too!

I absolutely love this whole bit
custa, at 14:50 I gave in after watching the Dallas VS gladiators review. I went to the store and got myself some snacks aswel 440 gr of chocolate M&M's to be precise. Donno if you continue to snack on your next review but if so I'll have to get more snacks lol
TrippyTriangle was kinda pepega debating about what nero should have done on Hanamura B attack lmao
Yeah he was pretty annoying
As a reasonable shock fan i very much appreciate this vod review. Extremely logical and level headed. Keep up the great work custa
shock isn't "washed" as much as this is definitely a growing pains/transitional year for them. a lot of ppl were denying it early on, saying it was just a slow start and they'll come back angry and blahblahblah, but the fact of the matter is, they lost some good players and some good assistant coaches. a lot of the preexisting shock players (and maybe staff, but who knows-- im just a rando) seem to assume that they can do things the way that used to work for them-- throwing in ults when down 3 players, for example. that used to work for them, because they had so much synergy and TRUST as a team. that takes time to build, and they had the time and space to build it.
this year, there's way less games and way more dangerous teams to face up against. things that might be a reflex or instinct for the core older players aren't so instinctual for the new players. this leads to team-wide mistakes, as there's a disconnect. especially since things that might be reflex or instinct to the older players might not work anymore with the new set of players and their styles of playing! everyone needs to exercise new "muscles", so to speak: the new players have to continue learning how to fit in with the team, and the old players have to recognize when old habits might not be so helpful anymore.
finally, i really really hope the new players are doing ok mentally and have some resilience (and if they need help, that they can easily get the help they need from their team/staff without feeling bad about it). i also really hope there's no resentment from the older players towards the newer ones when disconnects DO happen.
The shock gave these guys jobs when no other OWL team wanted them, and people expected the coaching to be as good as before? Not a shot.
@@razoredge8284 ok but Crusty was supposed to be the best coach in the league and yet the things we praised them for seem to be what we're praising the outlaws for, seems like crusty wasn't the mastermind
Good takes here. It's a TEAM game
Maybe twilight should start starting for the shock
I've been a shock fan since season one. I've seen their successes and failures. It's not that they 'suddenly suck" its more some teams have gotten better and SF is going through growing pains with neero and fd finding their footing. It's hard to do in ranked, imagine doing it at the highest level every week against stacked teams
What about playing the Ana mercy comp that was played in the east
"I saw us sell all our players in 2020 but then we ended up being good that was sweet" LMAOOO 💯💯
"give the refs a weapon" has to be flat-out one of the funniest stream comments
i swear viol2t is just trying to use coalescence as a damaging ultimate rather than tring to keep his tanks/dps alive.
Custa talking about philly fans: permanent runner ups
Me (a fan since VERY early 2018): ah shit here we go again
Anyone else notice during the game Viol2t looked a little sick?
Gotta say Hi at the fine ladies and gentlemen on the Twitch chat
0:59 hows the future treating you ramweed89?
It's his past actually
I think that SF shock was already seen in the finals without playing and when he played and was overcome by Reign he did not know how to respond
At 56:31 maybe they can just shoot at pelican or masaa atleast once per fight instead of diving 4 people while u get melted quite literally from an echo(beam) behind you
People who are blaming FDgod make me angry he was doing alot but the thing is that lucio is basically one of the easiest to kill in this meta
I think rather than blame FDgod himself, it’s better to blame the idea of FDgod on shock if that makes sense?
What nero could have done is peaked the orisa stickied fell back into the tunnel immediately till he had ult but that is also hindsight knowing pelican was looking at high ground still
In short not much he really could have done
I think Shock didn't play differently, they lost because they couldn't adapt and change their play style
Viol2t maintained his aggressive style and heavily got punished because Reign was ready for it
They have the one of the best rosters in the league but their inflexibility caused the loss
Kind of the same thing with Washington and Boston. They seem to have difficulty to adapt fast enough
these videos are so good :3
If I have been a Houston fan since the start of the league I think I can be happy for them now.
talk about fans as an atlanta fan and a fan of all their sports imagine what it feels like to be a hawks falcons and braves fan.
Lol the comment at 1:23:06 made me laugh "wait valliant have fans?"
Also strength of schedule plays a big part, if you beat titans London Paris and another team that's great, doesn't mean you can beat another top team
I still believe in Crusty but Dragons got fckd by last years meta but already looked soo clean sometimes this season, still a Fate doubter though
bad take
Why would they prepare for Dallas when they were never going to fight them in the knockouts? Pretty sure everyone expected Reign to beat Boston.
Ahhh bad to see Shock lose 3-0 to Atlanta but at the same time i guess Atlanta are the better team in June Joust
I wish Atlanta the best, hope they win the Joust
You mean journament
It’s always nice when teams that are previously middle of the pack turn it all around a season after.

WHERE WHERE THE CONCERTIVES WHEN EVERY RIGHT WAS TAKEN!
The more he plays the more confidence he gets.
hallween every day make it treding all houres up!
Bandwagoners who only care about whose winning make it hard to be a fan of the best teams no matter what game it is
Custa I’m not sure if you know what a wife swap is lmfao
I really dont understand why nobody seems to acknowledge Edison, hes just as good as kai IMO and as far as I remember he got a lot more playtime than him in the first half of the season
They looked terrifying vs Dallas. I don't get it
Tbf Reign were so prepped to take advantage of the shock’s strats the entire match. In the Dallas game Shock weren’t forced to make as many mistakes.
i want nyxl and Atlanta to go the finals
I want Dallas vs nyxl in the finals so there's a chance for Pine to go up against his former team
i can see why you would want that
Low-key a good rivalry in Season 2
@@Monke-fj2qz yeah cause Atlanta gave nyxl their first losses of the season iirc and then they went up against them in the playoffs

he is not washed ok, he is by far the best player on shock this season, without him they are bottom of the standings, do u think taiyo would do better
They needed moth to tell super to slow the fuck down
The San Fransisco Shock more like the San Francisco Choke (the new NYXL) .D
Also ppl tend to put all the blame on FdGod.
Malding Shock fans should try being a Shanghai fan season 1 LMAO best compliment they got at the end of the season is that they could walk out of the game with their dignity for still playing after 40 losses
Good vid I just wished you talked more abt ATL playing good and not shocks mistakes
Here's the thing, power creep is a bitch, and the OWL has been power crept.
If Regina keep playing like this, I think they have a shot at winning the JJ
I agree I think Atl wins but im from dallas so 4-2 dallas in the grand finals less goo
Nero could get an 8k and people will still shit on him lol
I think it because people compare him to rascal and imo rascal the best flex rn
No people compare him to other echos which are better then him at the hero
Pelican diffed him completely, also a bad copy led to him getting separated and killed at the end of the first map, probably cost them that map.
@Connor Corcoran Doesn't fusion have like 3 matches they lost through the season?
@Connor Corcoran nyxl was playing fucking insane tho and a map lost is expected to happen doesn't even make a bad team. That like saying shock is a shit team because they weren't performing that good in the beginning season . Saying a team is bad because of that and they rolled hunters and mostly every top team in apac
Shock got team diffed there

SAY THE MAGIC FUCKING WORDS NDP!!!! AND DO NOT SAY MUCH AND IT WILL HAPPEN MY VOTE AT LEST
@@orangeglow57Official it’s better than doing nothing but getting blown up by Pelican. It creates a cross fire. What are they going to do, turn away from the other five members to shoot Nero? He could’ve definitely sticky bombed, then shifted up the stairs again. That’s a much more valuable play than what he did.
